הִפְקִ֥יד had appointed hip̄·qîḏ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ס over the land . bā·’ā·reṣ Jeremiah 42:1 כָּל־ Then all kāl- שָׂרֵ֣י the commanders śā·rê הַחֲיָלִ֔ים of the forces , ha·ḥă·yā·lîm וְיֽוֹחָנָן֙ along with Johanan wə·yō·w·ḥā·nān בֶּן־ son ben- קָרֵ֔חַ of Kareah , qā·rê·aḥ וִֽיזַנְיָ֖ה Jezaniah wî·zan·yāh בֶּן־ son ben- הוֹשַֽׁעְיָ֑ה of Hoshaiah , hō·wō·ša‘·yāh וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām מִקָּטֹ֥ן from the least miq·qā·ṭōn וְעַד־ to wə·‘aḏ- גָּדֽוֹל׃ the greatest , gā·ḏō·wl וַֽיִּגְּשׁוּ֙ approached way·yig·gə·šū Jeremiah 42:2 יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū הַנָּבִ֗יא the prophet han·nā·ḇî וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ and said way·yō·mə·rū אֶֽל־ , ’el- תְחִנָּתֵ֙נוּ֙ “ May our petition ṯə·ḥin·nā·ṯê·nū תִּפָּל־ come tip·pāl- נָ֤א . . . nā לְפָנֶ֔יךָ before you ; lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā וְהִתְפַּלֵּ֤ל pray wə·hiṯ·pal·lêl בַּעֲדֵ֙נוּ֙ . . . ba·‘ă·ḏê·nū אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā בְּעַ֖ד on behalf of bə·‘aḏ הַזֹּ֑את this haz·zōṯ כָּל־ entire kāl- הַשְּׁאֵרִ֣ית remnant . haš·šə·’ê·rîṯ כִּֽי־ For kî- מְעַט֙ few mə·‘aṭ נִשְׁאַ֤רְנוּ of us remain niš·’ar·nū מֵֽהַרְבֵּ֔ה of the many , mê·har·bêh כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר as ka·’ă·šer רֹא֥וֹת you can see rō·’ō·wṯ אֹתָֽנוּ׃ - ’ō·ṯā·nū עֵינֶ֖יךָ with your own eyes . ‘ê·ne·ḵā Jeremiah 42:3 יְהוָ֣ה [Pray] that YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְיַגֶּד־ will tell wə·yag·geḏ- לָ֙נוּ֙ us lā·nū הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ the way had·de·reḵ אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer נֵֽלֶךְ־ we should walk nê·leḵ- בָּ֑הּ bāh וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הַדָּבָ֖ר and the thing had·dā·ḇār אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer נַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ we should do .” na·‘ă·śeh Jeremiah 42:4 שָׁמַ֔עְתִּי “ I have heard you , ” šā·ma‘·tî וַיֹּ֨אמֶר replied way·yō·mer אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם - ’ă·lê·hem יִרְמְיָ֤הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū הַנָּבִיא֙ the prophet . han·nā·ḇî הִנְנִ֧י “ I will surely hin·nî מִתְפַּלֵּ֛ל pray miṯ·pal·lêl אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם your God ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem כְּדִבְרֵיכֶ֑ם as you request , kə·ḏiḇ·rê·ḵem וְֽהָיָ֡ה . . . wə·hā·yāh אַגִּ֣יד and I will tell you ’ag·gîḏ כָּֽל־ everything kāl- הַדָּבָר֩ . . . had·dā·ḇār אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh אֶתְכֶם֙ - ’eṯ·ḵem יַעֲנֶ֨ה answers ya·‘ă·neh לָכֶ֔ם ; lā·ḵem לֹֽא־ I will not lō- אֶמְנַ֥ע withhold ’em·na‘ דָּבָֽר׃ a word dā·ḇār מִכֶּ֖ם from you .” mik·kem Jeremiah 42:5 וְהֵ֙מָּה֙ Then they wə·hêm·māh אָמְר֣וּ said ’ā·mə·rū אֶֽל־ to ’el- יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ Jeremiah , yir·mə·yā·hū יְהוָה֙ “ May YHWH Yah·weh יְהִ֤י be yə·hî
