הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ and one of the king’s ham·me·leḵ וְרַבֵּ֨י chief officers , wə·rab·bê בָּ֣א came bā אִתּ֛וֹ with ’it·tōw וַעֲשָׂרָ֨ה ten wa·‘ă·śā·rāh אֲנָשִׁ֥ים men ’ă·nā·šîm אֶל־ to ’el- גְּדַלְיָ֥הוּ Gedaliah gə·ḏal·yā·hū בֶן־ son ḇen- אֲחִיקָ֖ם of Ahikam ’ă·ḥî·qām הַמִּצְפָּ֑תָה at Mizpah , ham·miṣ·pā·ṯāh וַיֹּ֨אכְלוּ and they ate way·yō·ḵə·lū לֶ֛חֶם a meal le·ḥem יַחְדָּ֖ו together yaḥ·dāw שָׁ֥ם there šām בַּמִּצְפָּֽה׃ - . bam·miṣ·pāh Jeremiah 41:2 יִשְׁמָעֵ֨אל Then Ishmael yiš·mā·‘êl בֶּן־ son ben- נְתַנְיָ֜ה of Nethaniah nə·ṯan·yāh וַעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת and the ten wa·‘ă·śe·reṯ הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים׀ men hā·’ă·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- הָי֣וּ were hā·yū אִתּ֗וֹ with him ’it·tōw וַיָּקָם֩ got up way·yā·qām וַ֠יַּכּוּ and struck down way·yak·kū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- גְּדַלְיָ֨הוּ Gedaliah gə·ḏal·yā·hū בֶן־ son ḇen- אֲחִיקָ֧ם of Ahikam , ’ă·ḥî·qām בֶּן־ the son ben- שָׁפָ֛ן of Shaphan , šā·p̄ān בַּחֶ֖רֶב with the sword , ba·ḥe·reḇ וַיָּ֣מֶת killing way·yā·meṯ אֹת֑וֹ the one ’ō·ṯōw אֲשֶׁר־ whom ’ă·šer- מֶֽלֶךְ־ the king me·leḵ- בָּבֶ֖ל of Babylon bā·ḇel הִפְקִ֥יד had appointed to govern hip̄·qîḏ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ the land . bā·’ā·reṣ Jeremiah 41:3 יִשְׁמָעֵֽאל׃ Ishmael yiš·mā·‘êl וְאֵ֣ת also wə·’êṯ הִכָּ֖ה killed hik·kāh כָּל־ all kāl- הַיְּהוּדִ֗ים the Jews hay·yə·hū·ḏîm אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- הָי֨וּ were hā·yū אִתּ֤וֹ with ’it·tōw אֶת־ . . . ’eṯ- גְּדַלְיָ֙הוּ֙ Gedaliah gə·ḏal·yā·hū בַּמִּצְפָּ֔ה at Mizpah , bam·miṣ·pāh וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הַכַּשְׂדִּ֖ים as well as the Chaldean hak·kaś·dîm הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה soldiers ham·mil·ḥā·māh אֲשֶׁ֣ר who ’ă·šer נִמְצְאוּ־ . . . nim·ṣə·’ū- שָׁ֑ם were there . šām אֵ֚ת - ’êṯ אַנְשֵׁ֣י - ’an·šê Jeremiah 41:4 וַיְהִ֛י - way·hî הַשֵּׁנִ֖י On the second haš·šê·nî בַּיּ֥וֹם day bay·yō·wm לְהָמִ֣ית after the murder lə·hā·mîṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- גְּדַלְיָ֑הוּ of Gedaliah , gə·ḏal·yā·hū לֹ֥א when no lō וְאִ֖ישׁ one wə·’îš יָדָֽע׃ yet knew about it , yā·ḏā‘ Jeremiah 41:5 שְׁמֹנִ֣ים eighty šə·mō·nîm אִ֔ישׁ . . . ’îš אֲ֠נָשִׁים men ’ă·nā·šîm מְגֻלְּחֵ֥י who had shaved off mə·ḡul·lə·ḥê זָקָ֛ן their beards , zā·qān וּקְרֻעֵ֥י torn ū·qə·ru·‘ê בְגָדִ֖ים their garments , ḇə·ḡā·ḏîm וּמִתְגֹּֽדְדִ֑ים and cut themselves ū·miṯ·gō·ḏə·ḏîm וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ came way·yā·ḇō·’ū מִשְּׁכֶ֞ם from Shechem , miš·šə·ḵem מִשִּׁל֤וֹ Shiloh , miš·ši·lōw וּמִשֹּֽׁמְרוֹן֙ and Samaria , ū·miš·šō·mə·rō·wn בְּיָדָ֔ם vvv bə·yā·ḏām לְהָבִ֖יא carrying lə·hā·ḇî וּמִנְחָ֤ה grain offerings ū·min·ḥāh וּלְבוֹנָה֙ and frankincense ū·lə·ḇō·w·nāh בֵּ֥ית for the house bêṯ יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH .
