וַיִּשָּׁבַ֨ע swore an oath way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘ לָהֶ֜ם to them lā·hem וּלְאַנְשֵׁיהֶ֣ם and their men , ū·lə·’an·šê·hem לֵאמֹ֔ר assuring them , lê·mōr אַל־ “ Do not ’al- תִּֽירְא֖וּ be afraid tî·rə·’ū מֵעֲב֣וֹד to serve mê·‘ă·ḇō·wḏ הַכַּשְׂדִּ֑ים the Chaldeans . hak·kaś·dîm שְׁב֣וּ Live šə·ḇū בָאָ֗רֶץ in the land ḇā·’ā·reṣ וְעִבְד֛וּ and serve wə·‘iḇ·ḏū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מֶ֥לֶךְ the king me·leḵ בָּבֶ֖ל of Babylon , bā·ḇel וְיִיטַ֥ב and it will go well wə·yî·ṭaḇ לָכֶֽם׃ with you . lā·ḵem Jeremiah 40:10 וַאֲנִ֗י As for me , wa·’ă·nî הִנְנִ֤י I will hin·nî יֹשֵׁב֙ stay yō·šêḇ בַּמִּצְפָּ֔ה in Mizpah bam·miṣ·pāh לַֽעֲמֹד֙ to represent la·‘ă·mōḏ לִפְנֵ֣י you before lip̄·nê הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים the Chaldeans hak·kaś·dîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר who ’ă·šer יָבֹ֖אוּ come yā·ḇō·’ū אֵלֵ֑ינוּ to us . ’ê·lê·nū וְאַתֶּ֡ם As for you , wə·’at·tem אִסְפוּ֩ gather ’is·p̄ū יַ֨יִן wine [grapes] , ya·yin וְקַ֜יִץ summer fruit , wə·qa·yiṣ וְשֶׁ֗מֶן and oil , wə·še·men וְשִׂ֙מוּ֙ place them wə·śi·mū בִּכְלֵיכֶ֔ם in your storage jars , biḵ·lê·ḵem וּשְׁב֖וּ and live ū·šə·ḇū בְּעָרֵיכֶ֥ם in the cities bə·‘ā·rê·ḵem אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- תְּפַשְׂתֶּֽם׃ you have taken .” tə·p̄aś·tem Jeremiah 40:11 וְגַ֣ם When wə·ḡam כָּֽל־ all kāl- הַיְּהוּדִ֡ים the Jews hay·yə·hū·ḏîm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- בְּמוֹאָ֣ב׀ in Moab , bə·mō·w·’āḇ וּבִבְנֵֽי־ Ammon , ū·ḇiḇ·nê- עַמּ֨וֹן . . . ‘am·mō·wn וּבֶאֱד֜וֹם Edom , ū·ḇe·’ĕ·ḏō·wm וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר - wa·’ă·šer בְּכָל־ and all bə·ḵāl הָֽאֲרָצוֹת֙ the other lands hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ שָֽׁמְע֔וּ heard šā·mə·‘ū כִּֽי־ that kî- מֶֽלֶךְ־ the king me·leḵ- בָּבֶ֛ל of Babylon bā·ḇel נָתַ֧ן had left nā·ṯan שְׁאֵרִ֖ית a remnant šə·’ê·rîṯ לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה in Judah lî·hū·ḏāh וְכִי֙ . . . wə·ḵî הִפְקִ֣יד and had appointed hip̄·qîḏ גְּדַלְיָ֖הוּ Gedaliah gə·ḏal·yā·hū בֶּן־ son ben- אֲחִיקָ֥ם of Ahikam , ’ă·ḥî·qām בֶּן־ the son ben- שָׁפָֽן׃ of Shaphan , šā·p̄ān עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם over them , ‘ă·lê·hem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- Jeremiah 40:12 הַיְּהוּדִ֗ים they hay·yə·hū·ḏîm כָל־ all ḵāl וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ returned way·yā·šu·ḇū מִכָּל־ from all mik·kāl הַמְּקֹמוֹת֙ the places ham·mə·qō·mō·wṯ אֲשֶׁ֣ר to which ’ă·šer נִדְּחוּ־ they had been banished nid·də·ḥū- שָׁ֔ם . . . šām וַיָּבֹ֧אוּ and came way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶֽרֶץ־ to the land ’e·reṣ- יְהוּדָ֛ה of Judah , yə·hū·ḏāh אֶל־ to ’el- גְּדַלְיָ֖הוּ Gedaliah gə·ḏal·yā·hū הַמִּצְפָּ֑תָה at Mizpah . ham·miṣ·pā·ṯāh וַיַּאַסְפ֛וּ And they gathered way·ya·’as·p̄ū הַרְבֵּ֥ה an abundance har·bêh מְאֹֽד׃פ . . . mə·’ōḏ יַ֥יִן of wine [grapes] ya·yin וָקַ֖יִץ and summer fruit . wā·qa·yiṣ Jeremiah 40:13 וְיֽוֹחָנָן֙ Meanwhile, Johanan wə·yō·w·ḥā·nān בֶּן־ son ben- קָרֵ֔חַ of Kareah qā·rê·aḥ וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl שָׂרֵ֥י the commanders śā·rê
