אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֔ה Moses , mō·šeh מַה־ “ Why mah- תִּצְעַ֖ק are you crying out tiṣ·‘aq אֵלָ֑י to Me ? ’ê·lāy דַּבֵּ֥ר Tell dab·bêr אֶל־ . . . ’el- בְּנֵי־ the Israelites bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וְיִסָּֽעוּ׃ to go forward . wə·yis·sā·‘ū Exodus 14:16 וְאַתָּ֞ה And as for you , wə·’at·tāh הָרֵ֣ם lift up hā·rêm אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- מַטְּךָ֗ your staff maṭ·ṭə·ḵā וּנְטֵ֧ה and stretch out ū·nə·ṭêh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יָדְךָ֛ your hand yā·ḏə·ḵā עַל־ over ‘al- הַיָּ֖ם the sea hay·yām וּבְקָעֵ֑הוּ and divide it , ū·ḇə·qā·‘ê·hū בְנֵֽי־ so that the Israelites ḇə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וְיָבֹ֧אוּ can go wə·yā·ḇō·’ū בְּת֥וֹךְ through bə·ṯō·wḵ הַיָּ֖ם the sea hay·yām בַּיַּבָּשָֽׁה׃ on dry ground . bay·yab·bā·šāh Exodus 14:17 וַאֲנִ֗י And I wa·’ă·nî הִנְנִ֤י . . . hin·nî מְחַזֵּק֙ will harden mə·ḥaz·zêq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לֵ֣ב the hearts lêḇ מִצְרַ֔יִם of the Egyptians miṣ·ra·yim וְיָבֹ֖אוּ so that they will go in wə·yā·ḇō·’ū אַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם after them . ’a·ḥă·rê·hem וְאִכָּבְדָ֤ה Then I will gain honor wə·’ik·kā·ḇə·ḏāh בְּפַרְעֹה֙ by means of Pharaoh bə·p̄ar·‘ōh וּבְכָל־ and all ū·ḇə·ḵāl חֵיל֔וֹ his army ḥê·lōw בְּרִכְבּ֖וֹ and chariots bə·riḵ·bōw וּבְפָרָשָֽׁיו׃ and horsemen . ū·ḇə·p̄ā·rā·šāw Exodus 14:18 מִצְרַ֖יִם The Egyptians miṣ·ra·yim וְיָדְע֥וּ will know wə·yā·ḏə·‘ū כִּי־ that kî- אֲנִ֣י I ’ă·nî יְהוָ֑ה am YHWH Yah·weh בְּהִכָּבְדִ֣י when I am honored bə·hik·kā·ḇə·ḏî בְּפַרְעֹ֔ה through Pharaoh , bə·p̄ar·‘ōh בְּרִכְבּ֖וֹ his chariots , bə·riḵ·bōw וּבְפָרָשָֽׁיו׃ and his horsemen . ” ū·ḇə·p̄ā·rā·šāw Exodus 14:19 מַלְאַ֣ךְ And the angel mal·’aḵ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים of God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm הַהֹלֵךְ֙ who had gone ha·hō·lêḵ לִפְנֵי֙ before lip̄·nê מַחֲנֵ֣ה the camp ma·ḥă·nêh יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּסַּ֞ע withdrew way·yis·sa‘ וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ and went way·yê·leḵ מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם behind them . mê·’a·ḥă·rê·hem עַמּ֤וּד The pillar ‘am·mūḏ הֶֽעָנָן֙ of cloud he·‘ā·nān וַיִּסַּ֞ע also moved way·yis·sa‘ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם from before them mip·pə·nê·hem וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֖ד and stood way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃ behind them , mê·’a·ḥă·rê·hem Exodus 14:20 וַיָּבֹ֞א so that it came way·yā·ḇō בֵּ֣ין׀ between bên מַחֲנֵ֣ה the camps ma·ḥă·nêh מִצְרַ֗יִם of Egypt miṣ·ra·yim וּבֵין֙ and ū·ḇên מַחֲנֵ֣ה . . . ma·ḥă·nêh יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel . yiś·rā·’êl הֶֽעָנָן֙ The cloud he·‘ā·nān וַיְהִ֤י was way·hî וְהַחֹ֔שֶׁךְ there in the darkness , wə·ha·ḥō·šeḵ וַיָּ֖אֶר but it lit up way·yā·’er אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַלָּ֑יְלָה the night . hal·lā·yə·lāh כָּל־ So all kāl- הַלָּֽיְלָה׃ night long hal·lā·yə·lāh וְלֹא־ neither [camp] wə·lō- קָרַ֥ב went near qā·raḇ זֶ֛ה the other zeh אֶל־ . . . ’el- זֶ֖ה . . . . zeh
