בָּבֶ֔ל of Babylon , bā·ḇel הַזֹּאת֙ then this haz·zōṯ הָעִ֤יר city hā·‘îr וְנִתְּנָ֞ה will be delivered wə·nit·tə·nāh בְּיַ֣ד into the hands bə·yaḏ הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים of the Chaldeans . hak·kaś·dîm וּשְׂרָפ֖וּהָ They will burn it down ū·śə·rā·p̄ū·hā בָּאֵ֑שׁ . . . , bā·’êš וְאַתָּ֖ה and you wə·’at·tāh לֹֽא־ yourself will not lō- תִמָּלֵ֥ט escape ṯim·mā·lêṭ מִיָּדָֽם׃ס their grasp . ’” mî·yā·ḏām Jeremiah 38:19 הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ But King ham·me·leḵ צִדְקִיָּ֖הוּ Zedekiah ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū וַיֹּ֛אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶֽל־ to ’el- יִרְמְיָ֑הוּ Jeremiah , yir·mə·yā·hū אֲנִ֧י “ I ’ă·nî דֹאֵ֣ג am afraid ḏō·’êḡ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיְּהוּדִ֗ים of the Jews hay·yə·hū·ḏîm אֲשֶׁ֤ר who ’ă·šer נָֽפְלוּ֙ have deserted nā·p̄ə·lū אֶל־ to ’el- הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים the Chaldeans , hak·kaś·dîm פֶּֽן־ for [the Chaldeans] pen- יִתְּנ֥וּ may deliver yit·tə·nū אֹתִ֛י me ’ō·ṯî בְּיָדָ֖ם into their hands bə·yā·ḏām וְהִתְעַלְּלוּ־ to abuse wə·hiṯ·‘al·lə·lū- בִֽי׃פ me .” ḇî Jeremiah 38:20 לֹ֣א “ They will not lō יִתֵּ֑נוּ hand you over , ” yit·tê·nū יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū וַיֹּ֥אמֶר replied . way·yō·mer שְֽׁמַֽע־ “ Obey šə·ma‘- נָ֣א׀ . . . nā בְּק֣וֹל the voice bə·qō·wl יְהוָ֗ה of YHWH Yah·weh לַאֲשֶׁ֤ר in what la·’ă·šer אֲנִי֙ I ’ă·nî דֹּבֵ֣ר am telling you , dō·ḇêr אֵלֶ֔יךָ . . . ’ê·le·ḵā וְיִ֥יטַב that it may go well wə·yî·ṭaḇ לְךָ֖ with you lə·ḵā נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ and you nap̄·še·ḵā וּתְחִ֥י may live . ū·ṯə·ḥî Jeremiah 38:21 וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- אַתָּ֖ה you ’at·tāh מָאֵ֥ן refuse mā·’ên לָצֵ֑את to surrender , lā·ṣêṯ זֶ֣ה this zeh הַדָּבָ֔ר [is] the word had·dā·ḇār אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH Yah·weh הִרְאַ֖נִי has shown me : hir·’a·nî Jeremiah 38:22 וְהִנֵּ֣ה - wə·hin·nêh כָל־ All ḵāl הַנָּשִׁ֗ים the women han·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁ֤ר who ’ă·šer נִשְׁאֲרוּ֙ remain niš·’ă·rū בְּבֵ֣ית in the palace bə·ḇêṯ מֶֽלֶךְ־ of the king me·leḵ- יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh מוּצָא֕וֹת will be brought out mū·ṣā·’ō·wṯ אֶל־ to ’el- שָׂרֵ֖י the officials śā·rê מֶ֣לֶךְ of the king me·leḵ בָּבֶ֑ל of Babylon , bā·ḇel וְהֵ֣נָּה and those [women] wə·hên·nāh אֹמְר֗וֹת will say : ’ō·mə·rō·wṯ הִסִּית֜וּךָ ‘ They misled you his·sî·ṯū·ḵā וְיָכְל֤וּ and overcame wə·yā·ḵə·lū לְךָ֙ you — lə·ḵā שְׁלֹמֶ֔ךָ those trusted šə·lō·me·ḵā אַנְשֵׁ֣י friends of yours . ’an·šê רַגְלֶ֖ךָ Your feet raḡ·le·ḵā הָטְבְּע֥וּ sank hā·ṭə·bə·‘ū בַבֹּ֛ץ into the mire , ḇab·bōṣ נָסֹ֥גוּ and they deserted nā·sō·ḡū אָחֽוֹר׃ you . ’ ’ā·ḥō·wr Jeremiah 38:23 וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- כָּל־ All kāl- נָשֶׁ֣יךָ your wives nā·še·ḵā וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ-
