אֲנִ֤י “ I ’ă·nî אֹֽתְךָ֙ - ’ō·ṯə·ḵā שֹׁאֵ֨ל am going to ask šō·’êl דָּבָ֔ר you something , ” dā·ḇār וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ אֶֽל־ to ’el- יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ Jeremiah . yir·mə·yā·hū אַל־ “ Do not ’al- תְּכַחֵ֥ד hide tə·ḵa·ḥêḏ דָּבָֽר׃ anything dā·ḇār מִמֶּ֖נִּי from me .” mim·men·nî Jeremiah 38:15 כִּ֚י “ If kî אַגִּ֣יד I tell you , ” ’ag·gîḏ יִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū וַיֹּ֤אמֶר replied way·yō·mer אֶל־ - ’el- צִדְקִיָּ֔הוּ - ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū לְךָ֔ , lə·ḵā הֲל֖וֹא “ - hă·lō·w הָמֵ֣ת you will surely hā·mêṯ תְּמִיתֵ֑נִי put me to death . tə·mî·ṯê·nî וְכִי֙ And even if wə·ḵî אִיעָ֣צְךָ֔ I give you advice , ’î·‘ā·ṣə·ḵā לֹ֥א you will not lō תִשְׁמַ֖ע listen ṯiš·ma‘ אֵלָֽי׃ to me .” ’ê·lāy Jeremiah 38:16 הַמֶּ֧לֶךְ But King ham·me·leḵ צִדְקִיָּ֛הוּ Zedekiah ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū וַיִּשָּׁבַ֞ע swore way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘ בַּסֵּ֣תֶר secretly bas·sê·ṯer אֶֽל־ to ’el- יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū לֵאמֹ֑ר - , lê·mōr יְהוָ֞ה “ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives , ḥay- את ṯ אֲשֶׁר֩ who ’ă·šer עָשָׂה־ has given ‘ā·śāh- לָ֨נוּ us lā·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֹּאת֙ this haz·zōṯ הַנֶּ֤פֶשׁ life , han·ne·p̄eš אִם־ I will not ’im- אֲמִיתֶ֔ךָ kill you , ’ă·mî·ṯe·ḵā וְאִם־ nor wə·’im- אֶתֶּנְךָ֗ will I deliver you ’et·ten·ḵā בְּיַד֙ into the hands bə·yaḏ הָאֵ֔לֶּה of these hā·’êl·leh הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים men hā·’ă·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר who ’ă·šer מְבַקְשִׁ֖ים are seeking mə·ḇaq·šîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ס your life .” nap̄·še·ḵā Jeremiah 38:17 יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ Then Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- צִדְקִיָּ֡הוּ Zedekiah , ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū כֹּֽה־ “ This is what kōh- יְהוָה֩ YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֨י God ’ĕ·lō·hê צְבָא֜וֹת of Hosts , ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar אִם־ ‘ If ’im- יָצֹ֨א you indeed surrender yā·ṣō תֵצֵ֜א . . . ṯê·ṣê אֶל־ to ’el- שָׂרֵ֤י the officers śā·rê מֶֽלֶךְ־ of the king me·leḵ- בָּבֶל֙ of Babylon , bā·ḇel נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ then you nap̄·še·ḵā וְחָיְתָ֣ה will live , wə·ḥā·yə·ṯāh הַזֹּ֔את this haz·zōṯ וְהָעִ֣יר city wə·hā·‘îr לֹ֥א will not lō תִשָּׂרֵ֖ף be burned down ṯiś·śā·rêp̄ בָּאֵ֑שׁ . . . , bā·’êš אַתָּ֥ה and you ’at·tāh וּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃ and your household ū·ḇê·ṯe·ḵā וְחָיִ֖תָה will survive . wə·ḥā·yi·ṯāh Jeremiah 38:18 וְאִ֣ם But if wə·’im לֹֽא־ you do not lō- תֵצֵ֗א surrender ṯê·ṣê אֶל־ to ’el- שָׂרֵי֙ the officers śā·rê מֶ֣לֶךְ of the king me·leḵ
