בְּשַׁ֣עַר the Gate bə·ša·‘ar בִּנְיָמִ֗ן of Benjamin , bin·yā·min בַּ֣עַל the captain ba·‘al פְּקִדֻ֔ת of the guard pə·qi·ḏuṯ וְשָׁם֙ - , wə·šām וּשְׁמוֹ֙ whose name ū·šə·mōw יִרְאִיָּ֔יה was Irijah yir·’î·yāyh בֶּן־ son ben- שֶֽׁלֶמְיָ֖ה of Shelemiah , še·lem·yāh בֶּן־ the son ben- חֲנַנְיָ֑ה of Hananiah , ḥă·nan·yāh וַיִּתְפֹּ֞שׂ seized way·yiṯ·pōś אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- יִרְמְיָ֤הוּ [him] yir·mə·yā·hū הַנָּבִיא֙ . . . han·nā·ḇî לֵאמֹ֔ר and said , lê·mōr אַתָּ֥ה “ You ’at·tāh נֹפֵֽל׃ are deserting nō·p̄êl אֶל־ to ’el- הַכַּשְׂדִּ֖ים the Chaldeans !” hak·kaś·dîm Jeremiah 37:14 שֶׁ֗קֶר “ That is a lie , ” še·qer יִרְמְיָ֜הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū וַיֹּ֨אמֶר replied . way·yō·mer אֵינֶ֤נִּי “ I am not ’ê·nen·nî נֹפֵל֙ deserting nō·p̄êl עַל־ to ‘al- הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים the Chaldeans ! ” hak·kaś·dîm יִרְאִיָּיה֙ But Irijah yir·’î·yāyh וְלֹ֥א would not wə·lō שָׁמַ֖ע listen šā·ma‘ אֵלָ֑יו to him ; ’ê·lāw וַיִּתְפֹּ֤שׂ instead, he arrested way·yiṯ·pōś בְּיִרְמְיָ֔הוּ Jeremiah bə·yir·mə·yā·hū וַיְבִאֵ֖הוּ and took him way·ḇi·’ê·hū אֶל־ to ’el- הַשָּׂרִֽים׃ the officials . haś·śā·rîm Jeremiah 37:15 הַשָּׂרִ֛ים The officials haś·śā·rîm וַיִּקְצְפ֧וּ were angry way·yiq·ṣə·p̄ū עַֽל־ with ‘al- יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah , yir·mə·yā·hū וְהִכּ֣וּ and they beat wə·hik·kū אֹת֑וֹ him ’ō·ṯōw וְנָתְנ֨וּ and placed wə·nā·ṯə·nū אוֹת֜וֹ him ’ō·w·ṯōw בֵּ֣ית in jail bêṯ הָאֵס֗וּר . . . hā·’ê·sūr בֵּ֚ית in the house bêṯ יְהוֹנָתָ֣ן of Jonathan yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān הַסֹּפֵ֔ר the scribe , has·sō·p̄êr כִּֽי־ for kî- אֹת֥וֹ - ’ō·ṯōw עָשׂ֖וּ it had been made ‘ā·śū לְבֵ֥ית into a prison lə·ḇêṯ הַכֶּֽלֶא׃ . . . . hak·ke·le Jeremiah 37:16 כִּ֣י So kî יִרְמְיָ֛הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū בָ֧א went ḇā אֶל־ into ’el- בֵּ֥ית a cell bêṯ הַבּ֖וֹר . . . hab·bō·wr וְאֶל־ in wə·’el- הַֽחֲנֻ֑יוֹת the dungeon ha·ḥă·nu·yō·wṯ וַיֵּֽשֶׁב־ and remained way·yê·šeḇ- שָׁ֥ם there šām יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ . . . yir·mə·yā·hū רַבִּֽים׃פ a long time rab·bîm יָמִ֥ים . . . . yā·mîm Jeremiah 37:17 הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ Later, King ham·me·leḵ צִדְקִיָּ֜הוּ Zedekiah ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ sent for [Jeremiah] way·yiš·laḥ וַיִּקָּחֵ֗הוּ and received him way·yiq·qā·ḥê·hū הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ ham·me·leḵ בְּבֵיתוֹ֙ in his palace , bə·ḇê·ṯōw וַיִּשְׁאָלֵ֨הוּ where he asked him way·yiš·’ā·lê·hū בַּסֵּ֔תֶר privately , bas·sê·ṯer הֲיֵ֥שׁ “ Is there hă·yêš דָּבָ֖ר a word dā·ḇār מֵאֵ֣ת - mê·’êṯ יְהוָ֑ה from YHWH ? ” Yah·weh יֵ֔שׁ “ There is , ” yêš וַיֹּ֕אמֶר . . . way·yō·mer יִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū וַיֹּ֕אמֶר replied way·yō·mer וַיֹּ֤אמֶר . . . . way·yō·mer תִּנָּתֵֽן׃ס “ You will be delivered tin·nā·ṯên בְּיַ֥ד into the hand bə·yaḏ מֶֽלֶךְ־ of the king me·leḵ- בָּבֶ֖ל of Babylon .” bā·ḇel
