גָּרִ֥ים wander gā·rîm שָֽׁם׃ . . . .’ šām Jeremiah 35:8 וַנִּשְׁמַ֗ע And we have obeyed wan·niš·ma‘ בְּק֨וֹל the voice bə·qō·wl אָבִ֔ינוּ of our forefather ’ā·ḇî·nū יְהוֹנָדָ֤ב Jonadab yə·hō·w·nā·ḏāḇ בֶּן־ son ben- רֵכָב֙ of Rechab rê·ḵāḇ לְכֹ֖ל in all lə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer צִוָּ֑נוּ he commanded us . ṣiw·wā·nū לְבִלְתִּ֤י So we have not lə·ḇil·tî שְׁתֽוֹת־ drunk šə·ṯō·wṯ- יַ֙יִן֙ wine ya·yin כָּל־ all kāl- יָמֵ֔ינוּ our lives — yā·mê·nū אֲנַ֣חְנוּ neither we ’ă·naḥ·nū נָשֵׁ֔ינוּ [nor] our wives nā·šê·nū בָּנֵ֖ינוּ [nor] our sons bā·nê·nū וּבְנֹתֵֽינוּ׃ and daughters . ū·ḇə·nō·ṯê·nū Jeremiah 35:9 וּלְבִלְתִּ֛י Nor have we ū·lə·ḇil·tî בְּנ֥וֹת built bə·nō·wṯ בָּתִּ֖ים houses bāt·tîm לְשִׁבְתֵּ֑נוּ in which to live , lə·šiḇ·tê·nū לֹ֥א vvv lō יִֽהְיֶה־ and we have not owned yih·yeh- לָּֽנוּ׃ lā·nū וְכֶ֧רֶם any vineyards wə·ḵe·rem וְשָׂדֶ֛ה or fields wə·śā·ḏeh וָזֶ֖רַע or crops . wā·ze·ra‘ Jeremiah 35:10 וַנֵּ֖שֶׁב But we have lived wan·nê·šeḇ בָּֽאֳהָלִ֑ים in tents bā·’o·hā·lîm וַנִּשְׁמַ֣ע and have obeyed wan·niš·ma‘ וַנַּ֔עַשׂ and done wan·na·‘aś כְּכֹ֥ל exactly as kə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אָבִֽינוּ׃ our forefather ’ā·ḇî·nū יוֹנָדָ֥ב Jonadab yō·w·nā·ḏāḇ צִוָּ֖נוּ commanded us . ṣiw·wā·nū Jeremiah 35:11 וַיְהִ֗י So when way·hî נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֥ר Nebuchadnezzar nə·ḇū·ḵaḏ·reṣ·ṣar מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- בָּבֶל֮ of Babylon bā·ḇel בַּעֲל֨וֹת marched ba·‘ă·lō·wṯ אֶל־ into ’el- הָאָרֶץ֒ the land , hā·’ā·reṣ וַנֹּ֗אמֶר we said : wan·nō·mer בֹּ֚אוּ ‘ Come , bō·’ū וְנָב֣וֹא let us go into wə·nā·ḇō·w יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim מִפְּנֵי֙ to escape mip·pə·nê חֵ֣יל the armies ḥêl הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים of the Chaldeans hak·kaś·dîm וּמִפְּנֵ֖י . . . ū·mip·pə·nê חֵ֣יל . . . ḥêl אֲרָ֑ם and the Arameans . ’ ’ă·rām וַנֵּ֖שֶׁב So we have remained wan·nê·šeḇ בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃פ in Jerusalem .” bî·rū·šā·lim Jeremiah 35:12 דְּבַר־ Then the word də·ḇar- יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַֽיְהִי֙ came way·hî אֶֽל־ to ’el- יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū לֵאמֹֽר׃ . . . : lê·mōr Jeremiah 35:13 כֹּֽה־ “ This is what kōh- יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָאוֹת֙ of Hosts , ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl אָמַ֞ר says : ’ā·mar הָלֹ֤ךְ Go hā·lōḵ וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ and tell wə·’ā·mar·tā לְאִ֣ישׁ the men lə·’îš יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וּלְיֽוֹשְׁבֵ֖י and the residents ū·lə·yō·wō·šə·ḇê יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם of Jerusalem : yə·rū·šā·lim הֲל֨וֹא ‘ Will you not hă·lō·w תִקְח֥וּ accept ṯiq·ḥū מוּסָ֛ר discipline mū·sār לִשְׁמֹ֥עַ and obey liš·mō·a‘ אֶל־ . . . ’el- דְּבָרַ֖י My words ? ’ də·ḇā·ray
