כָּל־ and all kāl- בָּנָ֑יו his sons — bā·nāw וְאֵ֖ת - wə·’êṯ כָּל־ the entire kāl- בֵּ֥ית house bêṯ הָרֵכָבִֽים׃ of the Rechabites — hā·rê·ḵā·ḇîm Jeremiah 35:4 וָאָבִ֤א and I brought wā·’ā·ḇi אֹתָם֙ them ’ō·ṯām בֵּ֣ית into the house bêṯ יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh אֶל־ to ’el- לִשְׁכַּ֗ת a chamber liš·kaṯ בְּנֵ֛י occupied by the sons bə·nê חָנָ֥ן of Hanan ḥā·nān בֶּן־ son ben- יִגְדַּלְיָ֖הוּ of Igdaliah , yiḡ·dal·yā·hū אִ֣ישׁ a man ’îš הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים of God . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אֲשֶׁר־ This [room was] ’ă·šer- אֵ֙צֶל֙ near ’ê·ṣel לִשְׁכַּ֣ת the chamber liš·kaṯ הַשָּׂרִ֔ים of the officials , haś·śā·rîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ’ă·šer מִמַּ֗עַל was above mim·ma·‘al לְלִשְׁכַּ֛ת the chamber lə·liš·kaṯ מַעֲשֵׂיָ֥הוּ of Maaseiah ma·‘ă·śê·yā·hū בֶן־ son ḇen- שַׁלֻּ֖ם of Shallum šal·lum שֹׁמֵ֥ר the doorkeeper šō·mêr הַסַּֽף׃ . . . . has·sap̄ Jeremiah 35:5 וָאֶתֵּ֞ן Then I set wā·’et·tên גְּבִעִ֛ים pitchers gə·ḇi·‘îm מְלֵאִ֥ים full mə·lê·’îm יַ֖יִן of wine ya·yin וְכֹס֑וֹת and [some] cups wə·ḵō·sō·wṯ לִפְנֵ֣י׀ before lip̄·nê בְּנֵ֣י the men bə·nê בֵית־ of the house ḇêṯ- הָרֵכָבִ֗ים of the Rechabites , hā·rê·ḵā·ḇîm וָאֹמַ֥ר and I said wā·’ō·mar אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם to them , ’ă·lê·hem שְׁתוּ־ “ Drink šə·ṯū- יָֽיִן׃ some wine .” yā·yin Jeremiah 35:6 לֹ֣א “ We do not lō נִשְׁתֶּה־ drink niš·teh- יָּ֑יִן wine , ” yā·yin וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ they replied , way·yō·mə·rū כִּי֩ “ for kî אָבִ֗ינוּ our forefather ’ā·ḇî·nū יוֹנָדָ֨ב Jonadab yō·w·nā·ḏāḇ בֶּן־ son ben- רֵכָ֜ב of Rechab rê·ḵāḇ צִוָּ֤ה commanded ṣiw·wāh עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ us ‘ā·lê·nū לֵאמֹ֔ר . . . , lê·mōr אַתֶּ֥ם ‘ Neither you ’at·tem וּבְנֵיכֶ֖ם nor your descendants ū·ḇə·nê·ḵem לֹ֧א are ever to lō עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- עוֹלָֽם׃ . . . ‘ō·w·lām תִשְׁתּוּ־ drink ṯiš·tū- יַ֛יִן wine . ya·yin Jeremiah 35:7 לֹֽא־ Nor are you ever lō- תִבְנ֗וּ to build ṯiḇ·nū וּבַ֣יִת a house ū·ḇa·yiṯ לֹֽא־ [or] lō- תִזְרָ֙עוּ֙ sow ṯiz·rā·‘ū וְזֶ֤רַע seed wə·ze·ra‘ לֹֽא־ [or] lō- תִטָּ֔עוּ plant ṯiṭ·ṭā·‘ū וְכֶ֣רֶם a vineyard . wə·ḵe·rem יִֽהְיֶ֖ה Those things are yih·yeh וְלֹ֥א not wə·lō לָכֶ֑ם for you . lā·ḵem כִּ֠י Instead , kî תֵּֽשְׁבוּ֙ you must live tê·šə·ḇū בָּאֳהָלִ֤ים in tents bā·’o·hā·lîm כָּל־ all kāl- יְמֵיכֶ֔ם your lives , yə·mê·ḵem לְמַ֨עַן so that lə·ma·‘an תִּֽחְי֜וּ you may live tiḥ·yū רַבִּים֙ a long rab·bîm יָמִ֤ים time yā·mîm עַל־ in ‘al- פְּנֵ֣י . . . pə·nê הָאֲדָמָ֔ה the land hā·’ă·ḏā·māh אֲשֶׁ֥ר where ’ă·šer אַתֶּ֖ם you ’at·tem
