Jeremiah 34:7 וְחֵ֣יל as the army wə·ḥêl מֶֽלֶךְ־ of the king me·leḵ- בָּבֶ֗ל of Babylon bā·ḇel נִלְחָמִים֙ was fighting nil·ḥā·mîm עַל־ against ‘al- יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim וְעַ֛ל . . . wə·‘al כָּל־ vvv kāl- הַנּֽוֹתָר֑וֹת and the remaining han·nō·w·ṯā·rō·wṯ עָרֵ֥י cities ‘ā·rê יְהוּדָ֖ה of Judah — yə·hū·ḏāh אֶל־ against ’el- לָכִישׁ֙ Lachish lā·ḵîš וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- עֲזֵקָ֔ה and Azekah . ‘ă·zê·qāh כִּ֣י For kî הֵ֗נָּה these were the only hên·nāh מִבְצָֽר׃פ fortified miḇ·ṣār בְּעָרֵ֥י cities bə·‘ā·rê עָרֵ֥י - ‘ā·rê נִשְׁאֲר֛וּ remaining niš·’ă·rū יְהוּדָ֖ה in Judah . yə·hū·ḏāh Jeremiah 34:8 אַחֲרֵ֡י After ’a·ḥă·rê הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ King ham·me·leḵ צִדְקִיָּ֜הוּ Zedekiah ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū כְּרֹת֩ had made kə·rōṯ בְּרִ֗ית a covenant bə·rîṯ אֶת־ with ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- הָעָם֙ the people hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם in Jerusalem bî·rū·šā·lim לִקְרֹ֥א to proclaim liq·rō לָהֶ֖ם . . . lā·hem דְּרֽוֹר׃ liberty , də·rō·wr הַדָּבָ֛ר the word had·dā·ḇār אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- הָיָ֥ה came hā·yāh אֶֽל־ to ’el- יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ Jeremiah yir·mə·yā·hū מֵאֵ֣ת from mê·’êṯ יְהוָ֑ה YHWH Yah·weh Jeremiah 34:9 אִ֣ישׁ that each man ’îš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לְ֠שַׁלַּח should free lə·šal·laḥ חָפְשִׁ֑ים . . . ḥā·p̄ə·šîm הָעִבְרִ֥י his Hebrew hā·‘iḇ·rî עַבְדּ֞וֹ slaves , ‘aḇ·dōw וְהָעִבְרִיָּ֖ה [both male] and female wə·hā·‘iḇ·rî·yāh שִׁפְחָת֛וֹ . . . , šip̄·ḥā·ṯōw לְבִלְתִּ֧י and no lə·ḇil·tî וְאִ֧ישׁ one wə·’îš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲבָד־ should hold ‘ă·ḇāḏ- בָּ֛ם bām אָחִ֖יהוּ his fellow ’ā·ḥî·hū בִּיהוּדִ֥י Jew {in bondage} bî·hū·ḏî אִֽישׁ׃ - . ’îš Jeremiah 34:10 כָל־ So all ḵāl הַשָּׂרִ֨ים the officials haś·śā·rîm וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl הָעָ֜ם the people hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- בָּ֣אוּ entered bā·’ū בַבְּרִ֗ית into this covenant ḇab·bə·rîṯ וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ֩ agreed way·yiš·mə·‘ū לְ֠שַׁלַּח that they would free lə·šal·laḥ אִ֣ישׁ . . . ’îš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- חָפְשִׁ֔ים - ḥā·p̄ə·šîm עַבְדּ֞וֹ their menservants ‘aḇ·dōw וְאִ֤ישׁ . . . wə·’îš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שִׁפְחָתוֹ֙ and maidservants šip̄·ḥā·ṯōw לְבִלְתִּ֥י and no longer lə·ḇil·tî עֲבָד־ hold them in bondage ‘ă·ḇāḏ- בָּ֖ם bām ע֑וֹד - . ‘ō·wḏ וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֖וּ They obeyed way·yiš·mə·‘ū וַיְשַׁלֵּֽחוּ׃ and released them , way·šal·lê·ḥū Jeremiah 34:11 אַחֲרֵי־ but later ’a·ḥă·rê- כֵ֔ן - ḵên וַיָּשׁ֙וּבוּ֙ they changed their minds way·yā·šū·ḇū וַיָּשִׁ֗בוּ and took back way·yā·ši·ḇū אֶת־ - ’eṯ-
