Exodus 13:20 וַיִּסְע֖וּ They set out way·yis·‘ū מִסֻּכֹּ֑ת from Succoth mis·suk·kōṯ וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ and camped way·ya·ḥă·nū בְאֵתָ֔ם at Etham ḇə·’ê·ṯām בִּקְצֵ֖ה on the edge biq·ṣêh הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ of the wilderness . ham·miḏ·bār Exodus 13:21 וַֽיהוָ֡ה And YHWH Yah·weh הֹלֵךְ֩ went hō·lêḵ לִפְנֵיהֶ֨ם before them lip̄·nê·hem בְּעַמּ֤וּד in a pillar bə·‘am·mūḏ עָנָן֙ of cloud ‘ā·nān לַנְחֹתָ֣ם to guide lan·ḥō·ṯām הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ their way had·de·reḵ יוֹמָ֜ם by day , yō·w·mām בְּעַמּ֥וּד and in a pillar bə·‘am·mūḏ אֵ֖שׁ of fire ’êš לְהָאִ֣יר to give them light lə·hā·’îr לָהֶ֑ם . . . lā·hem וְלַ֛יְלָה by night , wə·lay·lāh לָלֶ֖כֶת so that they could travel lā·le·ḵeṯ יוֹמָ֥ם by day yō·w·mām וָלָֽיְלָה׃ or night . wā·lā·yə·lāh Exodus 13:22 לֹֽא־ Neither lō- עַמּ֤וּד the pillar ‘am·mūḏ הֶֽעָנָן֙ of cloud he·‘ā·nān יוֹמָ֔ם by day yō·w·mām וְעַמּ֥וּד nor the pillar wə·‘am·mūḏ הָאֵ֖שׁ of fire hā·’êš לָ֑יְלָה by night lā·yə·lāh יָמִ֞ישׁ left yā·mîš לִפְנֵ֖י its place before lip̄·nê הָעָֽם׃פ the people . hā·‘ām Exodus 14:1 יְהֹוָ֖ה Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר said way·ḏab·bêr אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses mō·šeh לֵּאמֹֽר׃ . . . , lê·mōr Exodus 14:2 דַּבֵּר֮ “ Tell dab·bêr בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ . . . yiś·rā·’êl אֶל־ to ’el- וְיָשֻׁ֗בוּ turn back wə·yā·šu·ḇū וְיַחֲנוּ֙ and encamp wə·ya·ḥă·nū לִפְנֵי֙ before lip̄·nê פִּ֣י vvv pî הַחִירֹ֔ת Pi-hahiroth , ha·ḥî·rōṯ בֵּ֥ין between bên מִגְדֹּ֖ל Migdol miḡ·dōl וּבֵ֣ין . . . ū·ḇên הַיָּ֑ם and the sea . hay·yām תַחֲנ֖וּ You are to encamp ṯa·ḥă·nū עַל־ by ‘al- הַיָּֽם׃ the sea , hay·yām לִפְנֵי֙ directly opposite lip̄·nê בַּ֣עַל vvv ba·‘al צְפֹ֔ן Baal-zephon ṣə·p̄ōn נִכְח֥וֹ . . . . niḵ·ḥōw Exodus 14:3 פַּרְעֹה֙ For Pharaoh par·‘ōh וְאָמַ֤ר will say wə·’ā·mar לִבְנֵ֣י vvv liḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of the Israelites , yiś·rā·’êl הֵ֖ם ‘ They hêm בָּאָ֑רֶץ are wandering the land bā·’ā·reṣ נְבֻכִ֥ים in confusion ; nə·ḇu·ḵîm הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ the wilderness ham·miḏ·bār סָגַ֥ר has boxed them sā·ḡar עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם in . ’ ‘ă·lê·hem Exodus 14:4 וְחִזַּקְתִּ֣י And I will harden wə·ḥiz·zaq·tî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- פַּרְעֹה֮ Pharaoh’s par·‘ōh לֵב־ heart lêḇ- וְרָדַ֣ף so that he will pursue wə·rā·ḏap̄ אַחֲרֵיהֶם֒ them . ’a·ḥă·rê·hem וְאִכָּבְדָ֤ה But I will gain honor wə·’ik·kā·ḇə·ḏāh בְּפַרְעֹה֙ by means of Pharaoh bə·p̄ar·‘ōh וּבְכָל־ and all ū·ḇə·ḵāl חֵיל֔וֹ his army , ḥê·lōw מִצְרַ֖יִם and the Egyptians miṣ·ra·yim וְיָדְע֥וּ will know wə·yā·ḏə·‘ū כִּֽי־ that kî- אֲנִ֣י I ’ă·nî
