אוֹתָ֗ם them ’ō·w·ṯām וְעַל־ wə·‘al- הַזֹּֽאת׃ in this haz·zōṯ בָּאָ֥רֶץ land : bā·’ā·reṣ Jeremiah 16:4 יָמֻ֗תוּ “ They will die yā·mu·ṯū מְמוֹתֵ֨י from deadly mə·mō·w·ṯê תַחֲלֻאִ֜ים diseases . ṯa·ḥă·lu·’îm לֹ֤א They will not lō יִסָּֽפְדוּ֙ be mourned yis·sā·p̄ə·ḏū וְלֹ֣א . . . wə·lō יִקָּבֵ֔רוּ or buried , yiq·qā·ḇê·rū יִֽהְי֑וּ but will lie yih·yū לְדֹ֛מֶן like dung lə·ḏō·men עַל־ on ‘al- פְּנֵ֥י vvv pə·nê הָאֲדָמָ֖ה the ground . hā·’ă·ḏā·māh יִכְל֔וּ They will be finished off yiḵ·lū וּבַחֶ֤רֶב by sword ū·ḇa·ḥe·reḇ וּבָֽרָעָב֙ and famine , ū·ḇā·rā·‘āḇ נִבְלָתָם֙ and their corpses niḇ·lā·ṯām וְהָיְתָ֤ה will become wə·hā·yə·ṯāh לְמַאֲכָ֔ל food lə·ma·’ă·ḵāl לְע֥וֹף for the birds lə·‘ō·wp̄ הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם of the air haš·šā·ma·yim וּלְבֶהֱמַ֥ת and beasts ū·lə·ḇe·hĕ·maṯ הָאָֽרֶץ׃ס of the earth . ” hā·’ā·reṣ Jeremiah 16:5 כִּֽי־ Indeed , kî- כֹ֣ה׀ this is what ḵōh יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar אַל־ “ Do not ’al- תָּבוֹא֙ enter tā·ḇō·w בֵּ֣ית a house bêṯ מַרְזֵ֔חַ [where there is] a funeral meal . mar·zê·aḥ וְאַל־ Do not wə·’al- תֵּלֵ֣ךְ go tê·lêḵ לִסְפּ֔וֹד to mourn lis·pō·wḏ וְאַל־ . . . wə·’al- תָּנֹ֖ד or show sympathy tā·nōḏ לָהֶ֑ם , lā·hem כִּֽי־ for kî- אָסַ֨פְתִּי I have removed ’ā·sap̄·tî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מֵאֵ֨ת from mê·’êṯ הַזֶּה֙ this haz·zeh הָעָ֤ם־ people hā·‘ām- שְׁלוֹמִ֜י My peace , šə·lō·w·mî הַחֶ֖סֶד My loving devotion , ha·ḥe·seḏ וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- הָֽרַחֲמִֽים׃ My compassion , ” hā·ra·ḥă·mîm נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ . ’eṯ- Jeremiah 16:6 גְדֹלִ֧ים “ Both great ḡə·ḏō·lîm וּקְטַנִּ֛ים and small ū·qə·ṭan·nîm וּמֵ֨תוּ will die ū·mê·ṯū הַזֹּ֖את in this haz·zōṯ בָּאָ֥רֶץ land . bā·’ā·reṣ לֹ֣א They will not lō יִקָּבֵ֑רוּ be buried yiq·qā·ḇê·rū וְלֹֽא־ [or] wə·lō- יִסְפְּד֣וּ mourned , yis·pə·ḏū לָהֶ֔ם . . . lā·hem וְלֹ֣א nor wə·lō יִתְגֹּדַ֔ד will anyone cut himself yiṯ·gō·ḏaḏ וְלֹ֥א . . . wə·lō יִקָּרֵ֖חַ or shave his head yiq·qā·rê·aḥ לָהֶֽם׃ for them . lā·hem Jeremiah 16:7 וְלֹֽא־ No food wə·lō- יִפְרְס֥וּ will be offered yip̄·rə·sū לָהֶ֛ם lā·hem עַל־ ‘al- לְנַחֲמ֣וֹ to comfort lə·na·ḥă·mōw אֵ֖בֶל those who mourn ’ê·ḇel עַל־ . . . ‘al- מֵ֑ת the dead ; mêṯ וְלֹֽא־ not even wə·lō- כּ֣וֹס a cup kō·ws תַּנְחוּמִ֔ים of consolation tan·ḥū·mîm יַשְׁק֤וּ will be given yaš·qū אוֹתָם֙ - ’ō·w·ṯām עַל־ for ‘al- אָבִ֖יו the loss of a father ’ā·ḇîw וְעַל־ . . . wə·‘al- אִמּֽוֹ׃ or mother . ’im·mōw
