וְחָפ֥וּ they cover wə·ḥā·p̄ū רֹאשָֽׁם׃ their heads . rō·šām Jeremiah 14:4 בַּעֲב֤וּר - ba·‘ă·ḇūr הָאֲדָמָה֙ The ground hā·’ă·ḏā·māh חַ֔תָּה is cracked ḥat·tāh כִּ֛י because kî לֹא־ no lō- הָיָ֥ה . . . hā·yāh גֶ֖שֶׁם rain ḡe·šem בָּאָ֑רֶץ has fallen on the land . bā·’ā·reṣ אִכָּרִ֖ים The farmers ’ik·kā·rîm בֹּ֥שׁוּ are ashamed ; bō·šū חָפ֥וּ they cover ḥā·p̄ū רֹאשָֽׁם׃ their heads . rō·šām Jeremiah 14:5 כִּ֤י Even kî גַם־ . . . ḡam- אַיֶּ֙לֶת֙ the doe ’ay·ye·leṯ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה in the field baś·śā·ḏeh וְעָז֑וֹב deserts wə·‘ā·zō·wḇ יָלְדָ֖ה her newborn fawn yā·lə·ḏāh כִּ֥י because kî הָיָ֖ה there is hā·yāh לֹֽא־ no lō- דֶּֽשֶׁא׃ grass . de·še Jeremiah 14:6 וּפְרָאִים֙ Wild donkeys ū·p̄ə·rā·’îm עָמְד֣וּ stand ‘ā·mə·ḏū עַל־ on ‘al- שְׁפָיִ֔ם barren heights ; šə·p̄ā·yim שָׁאֲפ֥וּ they pant šā·’ă·p̄ū ר֖וּחַ for air rū·aḥ כַּתַּנִּ֑ים like jackals ; kat·tan·nîm עֵינֵיהֶ֖ם their eyes ‘ê·nê·hem כָּל֥וּ fail kā·lū כִּי־ for kî- אֵ֥ין lack ’ên עֵֽשֶׂב׃ of pasture . ” ‘ê·śeḇ Jeremiah 14:7 אִם־ Although ’im- עֲוֺנֵ֙ינוּ֙ our iniquities ‘ă·wō·nê·nū עָ֣נוּ testify ‘ā·nū בָ֔נוּ against us , ḇā·nū יְהוָ֕ה O YHWH , Yah·weh עֲשֵׂ֖ה act ‘ă·śêh לְמַ֣עַן for the sake lə·ma·‘an שְׁמֶ֑ךָ of Your name . šə·me·ḵā כִּֽי־ Indeed , kî- מְשׁוּבֹתֵ֖ינוּ our rebellions mə·šū·ḇō·ṯê·nū לְךָ֥ lə·ḵā רַבּ֥וּ are many ; rab·bū חָטָֽאנוּ׃ we have sinned against You . ḥā·ṭā·nū Jeremiah 14:8 מִקְוֵה֙ O Hope miq·wêh יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl מֽוֹשִׁיע֖וֹ its Savior mō·wō·šî·‘ōw בְּעֵ֣ת in times bə·‘êṯ צָרָ֑ה of distress , ṣā·rāh לָ֤מָּה why lām·māh תִֽהְיֶה֙ are You ṯih·yeh כְּגֵ֣ר like a stranger kə·ḡêr בָּאָ֔רֶץ in the land , bā·’ā·reṣ וּכְאֹרֵ֖חַ like a traveler ū·ḵə·’ō·rê·aḥ נָטָ֥ה who stays but a night nā·ṭāh לָלֽוּן׃ . . . ? lā·lūn Jeremiah 14:9 לָ֤מָּה Why lām·māh תִֽהְיֶה֙ are You ṯih·yeh כְּאִ֣ישׁ like a man kə·’îš נִדְהָ֔ם taken by surprise , niḏ·hām כְּגִבּ֖וֹר like a warrior kə·ḡib·bō·wr לֹא־ lō- יוּכַ֣ל powerless yū·ḵal לְהוֹשִׁ֑יעַ to save ? lə·hō·wō·šî·a‘ וְאַתָּ֧ה Yet You wə·’at·tāh בְקִרְבֵּ֣נוּ are among us , ḇə·qir·bê·nū יְהוָ֗ה O YHWH , Yah·weh נִקְרָ֖א and we are called niq·rā וְשִׁמְךָ֛ by Your name . wə·šim·ḵā עָלֵ֥ינוּ . . . ‘ā·lê·nū אַל־ Do not ’al- תַּנִּחֵֽנוּ׃ס forsake us ! tan·ni·ḥê·nū Jeremiah 14:10 כֹּֽה־ This is what kōh- יְהוָ֜ה YHWH Yah·weh
