עָזַ֣בְנוּ we have abandoned ‘ā·zaḇ·nū אָ֔רֶץ the land ’ā·reṣ כִּ֥י because kî מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ס our dwellings miš·kə·nō·w·ṯê·nū הִשְׁלִ֖יכוּ have been torn down . ’” hiš·lî·ḵū Jeremiah 9:20 כִּֽי־ Now , kî- נָשִׁים֙ O women , nā·šîm שְׁמַ֤עְנָה hear šə·ma‘·nāh דְּבַר־ the word də·ḇar- יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH . Yah·weh וְתִקַּ֥ח Open wə·ṯiq·qaḥ אָזְנְכֶ֖ם your ears ’ā·zə·nə·ḵem דְּבַר־ to the word də·ḇar- פִּ֑יו of His mouth . pîw וְלַמֵּ֤דְנָה Teach wə·lam·mê·ḏə·nāh בְנֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ your daughters ḇə·nō·w·ṯê·ḵem נֶ֔הִי to wail , ne·hî וְאִשָּׁ֥ה and one wə·’iš·šāh רְעוּתָ֖הּ another rə·‘ū·ṯāh קִינָֽה׃ to lament . qî·nāh Jeremiah 9:21 כִּֽי־ For kî- מָ֙וֶת֙ death mā·weṯ עָ֤לָה has climbed in ‘ā·lāh בְּחַלּוֹנֵ֔ינוּ through our windows ; bə·ḥal·lō·w·nê·nū בָּ֖א it has entered bā בְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵ֑ינוּ our fortresses bə·’ar·mə·nō·w·ṯê·nū לְהַכְרִ֤ית to cut off lə·haḵ·rîṯ עוֹלָל֙ the children ‘ō·w·lāl מִח֔וּץ from the streets , mi·ḥūṣ בַּחוּרִ֖ים the young men ba·ḥū·rîm מֵרְחֹבֽוֹת׃ from the town squares . mê·rə·ḥō·ḇō·wṯ Jeremiah 9:22 דַּבֵּ֗ר Declare that dab·bêr כֹּ֚ה this is what kōh יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh נְאֻם־ says : nə·’um- נִבְלַ֣ת “ The corpses niḇ·laṯ הָֽאָדָ֔ם of men hā·’ā·ḏām וְנָֽפְלָה֙ will fall wə·nā·p̄ə·lāh כְּדֹ֖מֶן like dung kə·ḏō·men עַל־ upon ‘al- פְּנֵ֣י the open pə·nê הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה field , haś·śā·ḏeh וּכְעָמִ֛יר like newly cut grain ū·ḵə·‘ā·mîr מֵאַחֲרֵ֥י behind mê·’a·ḥă·rê הַקֹּצֵ֖ר the reaper , haq·qō·ṣêr וְאֵ֥ין with no wə·’ên מְאַסֵּֽף׃ס one to gather it . ” mə·’as·sêp̄ Jeremiah 9:23 כֹּ֣ה׀ This is what kōh יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar אַל־ “ Let not ’al- חָכָם֙ the wise [man] ḥā·ḵām יִתְהַלֵּ֤ל boast yiṯ·hal·lêl בְּחָכְמָת֔וֹ in his wisdom , bə·ḥā·ḵə·mā·ṯōw וְאַל־ nor wə·’al- הַגִּבּ֖וֹר the strong man hag·gib·bō·wr יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל - yiṯ·hal·lêl בִּגְבֽוּרָת֑וֹ in his strength , biḡ·ḇū·rā·ṯōw אַל־ nor ’al- עָשִׁ֖יר the wealthy man ‘ā·šîr יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל - yiṯ·hal·lêl בְּעָשְׁרֽוֹ׃ in his riches . bə·‘ā·šə·rōw Jeremiah 9:24 כִּ֣י But kî אִם־ . . . ’im- יִתְהַלֵּ֣ל let him who boasts yiṯ·hal·lêl הַמִּתְהַלֵּ֗ל boast ham·miṯ·hal·lêl בְּזֹ֞את in this , bə·zōṯ הַשְׂכֵּל֮ that he understands haś·kêl וְיָדֹ֣עַ and knows wə·yā·ḏō·a‘ אוֹתִי֒ Me , ’ō·w·ṯî כִּ֚י that kî אֲנִ֣י I ’ă·nî יְהוָ֔ה am YHWH , Yah·weh עֹ֥שֶׂה who exercises ‘ō·śeh חֶ֛סֶד loving devotion , ḥe·seḏ מִשְׁפָּ֥ט justice miš·pāṭ וּצְדָקָ֖ה and righteousness ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh בָּאָ֑רֶץ on the earth — bā·’ā·reṣ כִּֽי־ for kî- חָפַ֖צְתִּי I delight ḥā·p̄aṣ·tî בְאֵ֥לֶּה in these things , ” ḇə·’êl·leh נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָֽה׃ס YHWH .
