דִבֵּ֑ר they speak ḏib·bêr מִרְמָ֣ה deception . mir·māh בְּפִ֗יו With his mouth bə·p̄îw יְדַבֵּ֔ר a man speaks yə·ḏab·bêr שָׁל֤וֹם peace šā·lō·wm אֶת־ to ’eṯ- רֵעֵ֙הוּ֙ his neighbor , rê·‘ê·hū וּבְקִרְבּ֖וֹ but in his heart ū·ḇə·qir·bōw יָשִׂ֥ים he sets yā·śîm אָרְבּֽוֹ׃ a trap for him . ’ā·rə·bōw Jeremiah 9:9 לֹֽא־ Should I not lō- אֶפְקָד־ punish ’ep̄·qāḏ- בָּ֖ם them bām הַעַל־ for ha·‘al- אֵ֥לֶּה these things ? ’êl·leh נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָ֑ה YHWH . Yah·weh לֹ֥א Should I not lō תִתְנַקֵּ֖ם avenge ṯiṯ·naq·qêm נַפְשִֽׁי׃ס Myself nap̄·šî אִ֚ם on ’im בְּג֣וֹי such a nation bə·ḡō·w אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- כָּזֶ֔ה as this ? ” kā·zeh Jeremiah 9:10 אֶשָּׂ֧א I will take up ’eś·śā בְכִ֣י a weeping ḇə·ḵî וָנֶ֗הִי and wailing wā·ne·hî עַל־ for ‘al- הֶ֨הָרִ֜ים the mountains , he·hā·rîm קִינָ֔ה a dirge qî·nāh וְעַל־ over wə·‘al- מִדְבָּר֙ the wilderness miḏ·bār נְא֤וֹת pasture , nə·’ō·wṯ כִּ֤י for kî נִצְּתוּ֙ they have been scorched niṣ·ṣə·ṯū מִבְּלִי־ so no mib·bə·lî- אִ֣ישׁ one ’îš עֹבֵ֔ר passes through , ‘ō·ḇêr ק֣וֹל and the lowing qō·wl מִקְנֶ֑ה of cattle miq·neh וְלֹ֥א is not wə·lō שָׁמְע֖וּ heard . šā·mə·‘ū מֵע֤וֹף Both the birds mê·‘ō·wp̄ הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ of the air haš·šā·ma·yim וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- בְּהֵמָ֔ה the beasts bə·hê·māh נָדְד֖וּ have fled ; nā·ḏə·ḏū הָלָֽכוּ׃ they have gone away . hā·lā·ḵū Jeremiah 9:11 וְנָתַתִּ֧י “ And I will make wə·nā·ṯat·tî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְרוּשָׁלִַ֛ם Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim לְגַלִּ֖ים a heap of rubble , lə·ḡal·lîm מְע֣וֹן a haunt mə·‘ō·wn תַּנִּ֑ים for jackals tan·nîm וְאֶת־ - ; wə·’eṯ- אֶתֵּ֥ן and I will make ’et·tên עָרֵ֧י the cities ‘ā·rê יְהוּדָ֛ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh שְׁמָמָ֖ה a desolation , šə·mā·māh מִבְּלִ֖י without mib·bə·lî יוֹשֵֽׁב׃ס inhabitant . ” yō·wō·šêḇ Jeremiah 9:12 מִֽי־ Who mî- הָאִ֤ישׁ is the man hā·’îš הֶֽחָכָם֙ wise he·ḥā·ḵām וְיָבֵ֣ן enough to understand wə·yā·ḇên אֶת־ - ’eṯ- זֹ֔את this ? zōṯ וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר To whom wa·’ă·šer פִּֽי־ has the mouth pî- יְהוָ֛ה of YHWH Yah·weh דִּבֶּ֧ר spoken dib·ber אֵלָ֖יו - , ’ê·lāw וְיַגִּדָ֑הּ that he may explain it ? wə·yag·gi·ḏāh עַל־ Why ‘al- מָה֙ . . . māh הָאָ֔רֶץ is the land hā·’ā·reṣ אָבְדָ֣ה destroyed ’ā·ḇə·ḏāh נִצְּתָ֥ה and scorched niṣ·ṣə·ṯāh כַמִּדְבָּ֖ר like a desert , ḵam·miḏ·bār מִבְּלִ֖י so no mib·bə·lî עֹבֵֽר׃ס one can pass through it ? ‘ō·ḇêr Jeremiah 9:13 יְהוָ֔ה And YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר answered , way·yō·mer עַל־ “ It is because ‘al- עָזְבָם֙ they have forsaken ‘ā·zə·ḇām
