כִּֽי־ for kî- נַפְשִׁ֖י my soul nap̄·šî עָיְפָ֥ה faints ‘ā·yə·p̄āh לְהֹרְגִֽים׃פ before the murderers ! ” lə·hō·rə·ḡîm Jeremiah 5:1 שׁוֹטְט֞וּ “ Go up and down šō·wṭ·ṭū בְּחוּצ֣וֹת the streets bə·ḥū·ṣō·wṯ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם of Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim וּרְאוּ־ Look ū·rə·’ū- נָ֤א now nā וּדְעוּ֙ and take note ; ū·ḏə·‘ū וּבַקְשׁ֣וּ search ū·ḇaq·šū בִרְחוֹבוֹתֶ֔יהָ her squares . ḇir·ḥō·w·ḇō·w·ṯe·hā אִם־ If ’im- תִּמְצְא֣וּ you can find tim·ṣə·’ū אִ֔ישׁ a single person , ’îš אִם־ . . . ’im- יֵ֛שׁ . . . yêš עֹשֶׂ֥ה [anyone] who acts ‘ō·śeh מִשְׁפָּ֖ט justly , miš·pāṭ מְבַקֵּ֣שׁ [anyone] who seeks mə·ḇaq·qêš אֱמוּנָ֑ה the truth , ’ĕ·mū·nāh וְאֶסְלַ֖ח then I will forgive wə·’es·laḥ לָֽהּ׃ [the city] . lāh Jeremiah 5:2 וְאִ֥ם Although wə·’im יֹאמֵ֑רוּ they say , yō·mê·rū לָכֵ֥ן . . . lā·ḵên יְהֹוָ֖ה ‘ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives , ’ ḥay- יִשָּׁבֵֽעוּ׃ they are swearing falsely yiš·šā·ḇê·‘ū לַשֶּׁ֖קֶר . . . . ” laš·še·qer Jeremiah 5:3 יְהֹוָ֗ה O YHWH , Yah·weh הֲל֣וֹא do not hă·lō·w עֵינֶיךָ֮ Your eyes [look] ‘ê·ne·ḵā לֶאֱמוּנָה֒ for truth ? le·’ĕ·mū·nāh הִכִּ֤יתָה You struck them , hik·kî·ṯāh אֹתָם֙ - ’ō·ṯām וְֽלֹא־ but they felt no wə·lō- חָ֔לוּ pain . ḥā·lū כִּלִּיתָ֕ם You finished them off , kil·lî·ṯām מֵאֲנ֖וּ but they refused mê·’ă·nū קַ֣חַת to accept qa·ḥaṯ מוּסָ֑ר discipline . mū·sār פְנֵיהֶם֙ They have made their faces p̄ə·nê·hem חִזְּק֤וּ harder ḥiz·zə·qū מִסֶּ֔לַע than stone mis·se·la‘ מֵאֲנ֖וּ and refused mê·’ă·nū לָשֽׁוּב׃ to repent . lā·šūḇ Jeremiah 5:4 וַאֲנִ֣י Then I wa·’ă·nî אָמַ֔רְתִּי said , ’ā·mar·tî הֵ֑ם “ They hêm אַךְ־ are only ’aḵ- דַּלִּ֖ים the poor ; dal·lîm נוֹאֲל֕וּ they have played the fool , nō·w·’ă·lū כִּ֣י for kî לֹ֤א they do not lō יָדְעוּ֙ know yā·ḏə·‘ū דֶּ֣רֶךְ the way de·reḵ יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh מִשְׁפַּ֖ט the justice miš·paṭ אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ of their God . ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem Jeremiah 5:5 אֵֽלֲכָה־ I will go ’ê·lă·ḵāh- לִּ֤י lî אֶל־ to ’el- הַגְּדֹלִים֙ the powerful hag·gə·ḏō·lîm וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה and speak wa·’ă·ḏab·bə·rāh אוֹתָ֔ם to them . ’ō·w·ṯām כִּ֣י Surely kî הֵ֗מָּה they hêm·māh יָדְעוּ֙ know yā·ḏə·‘ū דֶּ֣רֶךְ the way de·reḵ יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh מִשְׁפַּ֖ט the justice miš·paṭ אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם of their God . ” ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem אַ֣ךְ But ’aḵ הֵ֤מָּה they too , hêm·māh יַחְדָּו֙ with one accord , yaḥ·dāw שָׁ֣בְרוּ had broken šā·ḇə·rū עֹ֔ל the yoke ‘ōl נִתְּק֖וּ and torn off nit·tə·qū מוֹסֵרֽוֹת׃ the chains . mō·w·sê·rō·wṯ Jeremiah 5:6 עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּן֩ . . . kên
