ל֕וֹא . . . ! lō·w כִּֽי־ For kî- אָהַ֥בְתִּי I love ’ā·haḇ·tî זָרִ֖ים foreign [gods] , zā·rîm וְאַחֲרֵיהֶ֥ם and I must go after wə·’a·ḥă·rê·hem אֵלֵֽךְ׃ them . ’ ’ê·lêḵ Jeremiah 2:26 גַּנָּב֙ As the thief gan·nāḇ כְּבֹ֤שֶׁת is ashamed kə·ḇō·šeṯ כִּ֣י when kî יִמָּצֵ֔א he is caught , yim·mā·ṣê כֵּ֥ן so kên בֵּ֣ית the house bêṯ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl הֹבִ֖ישׁוּ is disgraced . hō·ḇî·šū הֵ֤מָּה They , hêm·māh מַלְכֵיהֶם֙ their kings , mal·ḵê·hem שָֽׂרֵיהֶ֔ם their officials , śā·rê·hem וְכֹהֲנֵיהֶ֖ם their priests , wə·ḵō·hă·nê·hem וּנְבִיאֵיהֶֽם׃ and their prophets ū·nə·ḇî·’ê·hem Jeremiah 2:27 אֹמְרִ֨ים say ’ō·mə·rîm לָעֵ֜ץ to a tree , lā·‘êṣ אַ֗תָּה ‘ You ’at·tāh אָ֣בִי are my father , ’ ’ā·ḇî וְלָאֶ֙בֶן֙ and to a stone , wə·lā·’e·ḇen אַ֣תְּ ‘ You ’at יְלִדְתִּנִי gave me birth . ’ yə·liḏ·ti·nī כִּֽי־ For kî- פָנ֥וּ they have turned p̄ā·nū עֹ֖רֶף their backs ‘ō·rep̄ אֵלַ֛י to Me ’ê·lay וְלֹ֣א and not wə·lō פָנִ֑ים their faces , p̄ā·nîm וּבְעֵ֤ת yet in the time ū·ḇə·‘êṯ רָֽעָתָם֙ of trouble rā·‘ā·ṯām יֹֽאמְר֔וּ they beg , yō·mə·rū ק֖וּמָה ‘ Rise up qū·māh וְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ׃ and save us ! ’ wə·hō·wō·šî·‘ê·nū Jeremiah 2:28 וְאַיֵּ֤ה But where wə·’ay·yêh אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ are the gods ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer עָשִׂ֣יתָ you made ‘ā·śî·ṯā לָּ֔ךְ for yourselves ? lāḵ יָק֕וּמוּ Let them rise up yā·qū·mū בְּעֵ֣ת in your time bə·‘êṯ רָעָתֶ֑ךָ of trouble rā·‘ā·ṯe·ḵā יוֹשִׁיע֖וּךָ and save you yō·wō·šî·‘ū·ḵā אִם־ if they can ; ’im- כִּ֚י for kî אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ your gods ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā הָי֥וּ are hā·yū מִסְפַּ֣ר as numerous mis·par עָרֶ֔יךָ as your cities , ‘ā·re·ḵā יְהוּדָֽה׃ס O Judah . yə·hū·ḏāh Jeremiah 2:29 לָ֥מָּה Why lām·māh תָרִ֖יבוּ do you bring a case ṯā·rî·ḇū אֵלָ֑י against Me ? ’ê·lāy כֻּלְּכֶ֛ם You have all kul·lə·ḵem פְּשַׁעְתֶּ֥ם rebelled pə·ša‘·tem בִּ֖י against Me , ” bî נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH . Yah·weh Jeremiah 2:30 הִכֵּ֣יתִי “ I have struck hik·kê·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנֵיכֶ֔ם your sons bə·nê·ḵem לַשָּׁוְא֙ in vain ; laš·šāw לָקָ֑חוּ they accepted lā·qā·ḥū לֹ֣א no lō מוּסָ֖ר discipline . mū·sār חַרְבְּכֶ֛ם Your own sword ḥar·bə·ḵem אָכְלָ֧ה has devoured ’ā·ḵə·lāh נְבִֽיאֵיכֶ֖ם your prophets nə·ḇî·’ê·ḵem מַשְׁחִֽית׃ like a voracious maš·ḥîṯ כְּאַרְיֵ֥ה lion . ” kə·’ar·yêh Jeremiah 2:31 אַתֶּם֙ You [people] ’at·tem הַדּ֗וֹר of this generation , had·dō·wr רְא֣וּ consider rə·’ū דְבַר־ the word ḏə·ḇar- יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH : Yah·weh הָיִ֙יתִי֙ “ Have I been hā·yî·ṯî הֲמִדְבָּ֤ר a wilderness hă·miḏ·bār לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל to Israel lə·yiś·rā·’êl אִ֛ם or ’im
