שָׁבַ֣רְתִּי you broke šā·ḇar·tî עֻלֵּ֗ךְ your yoke ‘ul·lêḵ נִתַּ֙קְתִּי֙ and tore off nit·taq·tî מוֹסְרֹתַ֔יִךְ your chains , mō·ws·rō·ṯa·yiḵ וַתֹּאמְרִ֖י saying , wat·tō·mə·rî לֹ֣א ‘ I will not lō אֶעֱבֹד serve !’ ʾɛ·ʿɛ̆·ḇōḏ כִּ֣י Indeed , kî עַֽל־ on ‘al- כָּל־ every kāl- גְּבֹהָ֗ה high gə·ḇō·hāh גִּבְעָ֞ה hill giḇ·‘āh וְתַ֙חַת֙ and under wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ כָּל־ every kāl- רַעֲנָ֔ן green ra·‘ă·nān עֵ֣ץ tree ‘êṣ אַ֖תְּ you ’at צֹעָ֥ה lay down ṣō·‘āh זֹנָֽה׃ as a prostitute . zō·nāh Jeremiah 2:21 וְאָֽנֹכִי֙ I wə·’ā·nō·ḵî נְטַעְתִּ֣יךְ had planted you nə·ṭa‘·tîḵ כֻּלֹּ֖ה like a choice kul·lōh שֹׂרֵ֔ק vine śō·rêq אֱמֶ֑ת from the very best ’ĕ·meṯ זֶ֣רַע seed . ze·ra‘ וְאֵיךְ֙ How wə·’êḵ נֶהְפַּ֣כְתְּ could you turn yourself neh·paḵt לִ֔י before Me lî סוּרֵ֖י into a rotten , sū·rê נָכְרִיָּֽה׃ wild nā·ḵə·rî·yāh הַגֶּ֥פֶן vine ? hag·ge·p̄en Jeremiah 2:22 כִּ֤י Although kî אִם־ . . . ’im- תְּכַבְּסִי֙ you wash tə·ḵab·bə·sî בַּנֶּ֔תֶר with lye ban·ne·ṯer וְתַרְבִּי־ and use an abundance wə·ṯar·bî- לָ֖ךְ lāḵ בֹּרִ֑ית of soap , bō·rîṯ נִכְתָּ֤ם the stain niḵ·tām עֲוֺנֵךְ֙ of your guilt ‘ă·wō·nêḵ לְפָנַ֔י is still before Me , ” lə·p̄ā·nay נְאֻ֖ם declares nə·’um אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִֽה׃ YHWH . Yah·weh Jeremiah 2:23 אֵ֣יךְ “ How ’êḵ תֹּאמְרִ֞י can you say , tō·mə·rî לֹ֣א ‘ I am not lō נִטְמֵ֗אתִי defiled ; niṭ·mê·ṯî לֹ֣א I have not lō הָלַ֔כְתִּי run hā·laḵ·tî אַחֲרֵ֤י after ’a·ḥă·rê הַבְּעָלִים֙ the Baals ’ ? hab·bə·‘ā·lîm רְאִ֤י Look rə·’î דַרְכֵּךְ֙ at your behavior ḏar·kêḵ בַּגַּ֔יְא in the valley ; bag·gay דְּעִ֖י acknowledge də·‘î מֶ֣ה what meh עָשִׂ֑ית you have done . ‘ā·śîṯ קַלָּ֖ה You are a swift qal·lāh בִּכְרָ֥ה young she-camel biḵ·rāh מְשָׂרֶ֥כֶת galloping here and there mə·śā·re·ḵeṯ דְּרָכֶֽיהָ׃ . . . , də·rā·ḵe·hā Jeremiah 2:24 פֶּ֣רֶה׀ a wild donkey pe·reh לִמֻּ֣ד at home in lim·muḏ מִדְבָּ֗ר the wilderness , miḏ·bār שָׁאֲפָ֣ה sniffing šā·’ă·p̄āh ר֔וּחַ the wind rū·aḥ תַּאֲנָתָ֖הּ in the heat ta·’ă·nā·ṯāh נַפְשׁוֹ of her nap̄·šō בְּאַוַּ֤ת desire . bə·’aw·waṯ מִ֣י Who mî יְשִׁיבֶ֑נָּה can restrain her passion ? yə·šî·ḇen·nāh כָּל־ All kāl- מְבַקְשֶׁ֙יהָ֙ who seek her mə·ḇaq·še·hā לֹ֣א need not lō יִיעָ֔פוּ weary themselves ; yî·‘ā·p̄ū בְּחָדְשָׁ֖הּ in mating season bə·ḥā·ḏə·šāh יִמְצָאֽוּנְהָ׃ they will find her . yim·ṣā·’ū·nə·hā Jeremiah 2:25 מִנְעִ֤י You should have kept min·‘î רַגְלֵךְ֙ your feet raḡ·lêḵ מִיָּחֵ֔ף from going bare mî·yā·ḥêp̄ וְגוֹרְנֵךְ and your throat wə·ḡō·rə·nēḵ מִצִּמְאָ֑ה from being thirsty . miṣ·ṣim·’āh וַתֹּאמְרִ֣י But you said , wat·tō·mə·rî נוֹאָ֔שׁ ‘ It is hopeless nō·w·’āš
