אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ’ă·šer לֹא־ cannot lō- יָכִ֖לוּ hold yā·ḵi·lū הַמָּֽיִם׃ water . ham·mā·yim Jeremiah 2:14 יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Is Israel yiś·rā·’êl אִם־ . . . ’im- הַעֶ֙בֶד֙ a slave ? ha·‘e·ḇeḏ ה֑וּא Was he hū יְלִ֥יד born into slavery yə·lîḏ בַּ֖יִת . . . ? ba·yiṯ מַדּ֖וּעַ Why then mad·dū·a‘ הָיָ֥ה has he become hā·yāh לָבַֽז׃ prey ? lā·ḇaz Jeremiah 2:15 כְפִרִ֔ים The young lions ḵə·p̄i·rîm יִשְׁאֲג֣וּ have roared yiš·’ă·ḡū עָלָיו֙ at him ; ‘ā·lāw נָתְנ֖וּ they have growled nā·ṯə·nū קוֹלָ֑ם with a loud voice . qō·w·lām וַיָּשִׁ֤יתוּ They have laid way·yā·šî·ṯū לְשַׁמָּ֔ה waste lə·šam·māh אַרְצוֹ֙ his land ; ’ar·ṣōw עָרָ֥יו his cities ‘ā·rāw נִצְּתָה lie in ruins , niṣ·ṣə·ṯå̄h מִבְּלִ֥י without mib·bə·lî יֹשֵֽׁב׃ inhabitant . yō·šêḇ Jeremiah 2:16 בְּנֵי־ The men bə·nê- נֹ֖ף of Memphis nōp̄ וְתַחְפְּנֵס and Tahpanhes wə·ṯaḥ·pə·nēs גַּם־ - gam- יִרְע֖וּךְ have shaved yir·‘ūḵ קָדְקֹֽד׃ the crown of your head . qā·ḏə·qōḏ Jeremiah 2:17 הֲלוֹא־ Have you not hă·lō·w- תַּעֲשֶׂה־ brought ta·‘ă·śeh- זֹ֖את this zōṯ לָּ֑ךְ on yourself lāḵ עָזְבֵךְ֙ by forsaking ‘ā·zə·ḇêḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהַ֔יִךְ your God ’ĕ·lō·ha·yiḵ בְּעֵ֖ת when bə·‘êṯ מוֹלִיכֵ֥ךְ He led you mō·w·lî·ḵêḵ בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃ in the way ? bad·dā·reḵ Jeremiah 2:18 וְעַתָּ֗ה Now wə·‘at·tāh מַה־ what will you gain mah- לָּךְ֙ lāḵ לְדֶ֣רֶךְ on your way lə·ḏe·reḵ מִצְרַ֔יִם to Egypt miṣ·ra·yim לִשְׁתּ֖וֹת to drink liš·tō·wṯ מֵ֣י the waters mê שִׁח֑וֹר of the Nile ? ši·ḥō·wr וּמַה־ What will you gain ū·mah- לָּךְ֙ lāḵ לְדֶ֣רֶךְ on your way lə·ḏe·reḵ אַשּׁ֔וּר to Assyria ’aš·šūr לִשְׁתּ֖וֹת to drink liš·tō·wṯ מֵ֥י the waters mê נָהָֽר׃ of the Euphrates ? nā·hār Jeremiah 2:19 רָעָתֵ֗ךְ Your own evil rā·‘ā·ṯêḵ תְּיַסְּרֵ֣ךְ will discipline you ; tə·yas·sə·rêḵ וּמְשֻֽׁבוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ your own apostasies ū·mə·šu·ḇō·w·ṯa·yiḵ תּוֹכִחֻ֔ךְ will reprimand you . tō·w·ḵi·ḥuḵ וּדְעִ֤י Consider ū·ḏə·‘î וּרְאִי֙ and realize ū·rə·’î כִּי־ how kî- רַ֣ע evil ra‘ וָמָ֔ר and bitter it is wā·mār עָזְבֵ֖ךְ for you to forsake ‘ā·zə·ḇêḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהָ֑יִךְ your God ’ĕ·lō·hā·yiḵ אֵלַ֔יִךְ and to have ’ê·la·yiḵ וְלֹ֤א no wə·lō פַחְדָּתִי֙ fear of Me , ” p̄aḥ·dā·ṯî נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- אֲדֹנָ֥י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָאֽוֹת׃ of Hosts . ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ Jeremiah 2:20 כִּ֣י “ For kî מֵעוֹלָ֞ם long ago mê·‘ō·w·lām
