זָכַ֤רְתִּי ‘ I remember zā·ḵar·tî לָךְ֙ lāḵ חֶ֣סֶד the devotion ḥe·seḏ נְעוּרַ֔יִךְ of your youth , nə·‘ū·ra·yiḵ אַהֲבַ֖ת your love ’a·hă·ḇaṯ כְּלוּלֹתָ֑יִךְ as a bride , kə·lū·lō·ṯā·yiḵ לֶכְתֵּ֤ךְ how you followed Me leḵ·têḵ אַחֲרַי֙ . . . ’a·ḥă·ray בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר in the wilderness , bam·miḏ·bār בְּאֶ֖רֶץ in a land bə·’e·reṣ לֹ֥א not lō זְרוּעָֽה׃ sown . zə·rū·‘āh Jeremiah 2:3 יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ Israel yiś·rā·’êl קֹ֤דֶשׁ was holy qō·ḏeš לַיהוָ֔ה to YHWH , Yah·weh רֵאשִׁ֖ית the firstfruits rê·šîṯ תְּבוּאָתֹ֑ה of His harvest . tə·ḇū·ʾå̄·ṯōh כָּל־ All kāl- אֹכְלָ֣יו who devoured her ’ō·ḵə·lāw יֶאְשָׁ֔מוּ found themselves guilty ; ye’·šā·mū רָעָ֛ה disaster rā·‘āh תָּבֹ֥א came tā·ḇō אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם upon them , ’” ’ă·lê·hem נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָֽה׃פ YHWH . Yah·weh Jeremiah 2:4 שִׁמְע֥וּ Hear šim·‘ū דְבַר־ the word ḏə·ḇar- יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH , Yah·weh בֵּ֣ית O house bêṯ יַעֲקֹ֑ב of Jacob , ya·‘ă·qōḇ וְכָֽל־ and all wə·ḵāl מִשְׁפְּח֖וֹת you families miš·pə·ḥō·wṯ בֵּ֥ית of the house bêṯ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl Jeremiah 2:5 כֹּ֣ה׀ This is what kōh יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar מַה־ “ What mah- עָ֔וֶל fault ‘ā·wel אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֥ם did your fathers ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·ḵem מָּצְא֨וּ find mā·ṣə·’ū בִּי֙ in Me bî כִּ֥י that kî רָחֲק֖וּ they strayed so far rā·ḥă·qū מֵעָלָ֑י from Me , mê·‘ā·lāy וַיֵּֽלְכ֛וּ and followed way·yê·lə·ḵū אַחֲרֵ֥י . . . ’a·ḥă·rê הַהֶ֖בֶל worthless idols , ha·he·ḇel וַיֶּהְבָּֽלוּ׃ and became worthless themselves ? way·yeh·bā·lū Jeremiah 2:6 וְלֹ֣א They did not wə·lō אָמְר֔וּ ask , ’ā·mə·rū אַיֵּ֣ה ‘ Where ’ay·yêh יְהוָ֔ה is YHWH Yah·weh הַמַּעֲלֶ֥ה who brought us up ham·ma·‘ă·leh אֹתָ֖נוּ ’ō·ṯā·nū מֵאֶ֣רֶץ from the land mê·’e·reṣ מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt , miṣ·rā·yim הַמּוֹלִ֨יךְ who led ham·mō·w·lîḵ אֹתָ֜נוּ us ’ō·ṯā·nū בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר through the wilderness , bam·miḏ·bār בְּאֶ֨רֶץ through a land bə·’e·reṣ עֲרָבָ֤ה of deserts ‘ă·rā·ḇāh וְשׁוּחָה֙ and pits , wə·šū·ḥāh בְּאֶ֙רֶץ֙ a land bə·’e·reṣ צִיָּ֣ה of drought ṣî·yāh וְצַלְמָ֔וֶת and darkness , wə·ṣal·mā·weṯ בְּאֶ֗רֶץ a land bə·’e·reṣ לֹֽא־ where no lō- אִ֔ישׁ one ’îš עָ֤בַר travels ‘ā·ḇar בָּהּ֙ bāh שָֽׁם׃ and šām וְלֹֽא־ no wə·lō- אָדָ֖ם one ’ā·ḏām יָשַׁ֥ב lives ? ’ yā·šaḇ Jeremiah 2:7 וָאָבִ֤יא I brought wā·’ā·ḇî אֶתְכֶם֙ you ’eṯ·ḵem אֶל־ into ’el- הַכַּרְמֶ֔ל a fertile hak·kar·mel אֶ֣רֶץ land ’e·reṣ לֶאֱכֹ֥ל to eat le·’ĕ·ḵōl פִּרְיָ֖הּ its fruit pir·yāh וְטוּבָ֑הּ and bounty , wə·ṭū·ḇāh וַתָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ but you came wat·tā·ḇō·’ū וַתְּטַמְּא֣וּ and defiled wat·tə·ṭam·mə·’ū
