וְאֵ֥ין and there is no wə·’ên מִשְׁפָּ֖ט justice miš·pāṭ בְּמַעְגְּלוֹתָ֑ם in their tracks . bə·ma‘·gə·lō·w·ṯām לָהֶ֔ם They have turned them into lā·hem עִקְּשׁ֣וּ crooked ‘iq·qə·šū נְתִיבֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ paths ; nə·ṯî·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem כֹּ֚ל no one kōl לֹ֥א . . . lō דֹּרֵ֣ךְ who treads dō·rêḵ בָּ֔הּ on them bāh יָדַ֖ע will know yā·ḏa‘ שָׁלֽוֹם׃ peace . šā·lō·wm Isaiah 59:9 עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּ֗ן . . . kên מִשְׁפָּט֙ justice miš·pāṭ רָחַ֤ק is far rā·ḥaq מִמֶּ֔נּוּ from us , mim·men·nū צְדָקָ֑ה and righteousness ṣə·ḏā·qāh וְלֹ֥א does not wə·lō תַשִּׂיגֵ֖נוּ reach us . ṯaś·śî·ḡê·nū נְקַוֶּ֤ה We hope nə·qaw·weh לָאוֹר֙ for light , lā·’ō·wr וְהִנֵּה־ but there wə·hin·nêh- חֹ֔שֶׁךְ is darkness ; ḥō·šeḵ לִנְגֹה֖וֹת for brightness , lin·ḡō·hō·wṯ נְהַלֵּֽךְ׃ [but] we walk nə·hal·lêḵ בָּאֲפֵל֥וֹת in gloom . bā·’ă·p̄ê·lō·wṯ Isaiah 59:10 כַֽעִוְרִים֙ Like the blind , ḵa·‘iw·rîm נְגַֽשְׁשָׁ֤ה we feel our way along nə·ḡaš·šāh קִ֔יר the wall , qîr נְגַשֵּׁ֑שָׁה groping nə·ḡaš·šê·šāh וּכְאֵ֥ין like those without ū·ḵə·’ên עֵינַ֖יִם eyes . ‘ê·na·yim כָּשַׁ֤לְנוּ We stumble kā·šal·nū בַֽצָּהֳרַ֙יִם֙ at midday ḇaṣ·ṣā·ho·ra·yim כַּנֶּ֔שֶׁף as in the twilight ; kan·ne·šep̄ בָּאַשְׁמַנִּ֖ים among the vigorous bā·’aš·man·nîm כַּמֵּתִֽים׃ we are like the dead . kam·mê·ṯîm Isaiah 59:11 כֻּלָּ֔נוּ We all kul·lā·nū נֶהֱמֶ֤ה growl ne·hĕ·meh כַדֻּבִּים֙ like bears ḵad·dub·bîm הָגֹ֣ה and moan hā·ḡōh נֶהְגֶּ֑ה . . . neh·geh וְכַיּוֹנִ֖ים like doves . wə·ḵay·yō·w·nîm נְקַוֶּ֤ה We hope nə·qaw·weh לַמִּשְׁפָּט֙ for justice , lam·miš·pāṭ וָאַ֔יִן but [find] none , wā·’a·yin לִֽישׁוּעָ֖ה for salvation , lî·šū·‘āh רָחֲקָ֥ה but it is far rā·ḥă·qāh מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ from us . mim·men·nū Isaiah 59:12 כִּֽי־ For kî- פְשָׁעֵ֙ינוּ֙ our transgressions p̄ə·šā·‘ê·nū רַבּ֤וּ are multiplied rab·bū נֶגְדֶּ֔ךָ before You , neḡ·de·ḵā וְחַטֹּאותֵ֖ינוּ and our sins wə·ḥaṭ·ṭō·w·ṯê·nū עָ֣נְתָה testify ‘ā·nə·ṯāh בָּ֑נוּ against us . bā·nū פְשָׁעֵ֣ינוּ Our transgressions p̄ə·šā·‘ê·nū כִּֽי־ are indeed kî- אִתָּ֔נוּ with us , ’it·tā·nū יְדַֽעֲנֽוּם׃ and we know yə·ḏa·‘ă·nūm וַעֲוֺנֹתֵ֖ינוּ our iniquities : wa·‘ă·wō·nō·ṯê·nū Isaiah 59:13 פָּשֹׁ֤עַ rebelling pā·šō·a‘ וְכַחֵשׁ֙ and denying wə·ḵa·ḥêš בַּֽיהוָ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh וְנָס֖וֹג turning away wə·nā·sō·wḡ מֵאַחַ֣ר from mê·’a·ḥar אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our God , ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū דַּבֶּר־ speaking dab·ber- עֹ֣שֶׁק oppression ‘ō·šeq וְסָרָ֔ה and revolt , wə·sā·rāh הֹר֧וֹ conceiving hō·rōw וְהֹג֛וֹ and uttering wə·hō·ḡōw שָֽׁקֶר׃ lies šā·qer דִּבְרֵי־ - diḇ·rê- מִלֵּ֖ב from the heart . mil·lêḇ Isaiah 59:14 מִשְׁפָּ֔ט So justice miš·pāṭ וְהֻסַּ֤ג is turned away wə·hus·saḡ אָחוֹר֙ . . . , ’ā·ḥō·wr וּצְדָקָ֖ה and righteousness ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh תַּעֲמֹ֑ד stands ta·‘ă·mōḏ מֵרָח֣וֹק at a distance . mê·rā·ḥō·wq
