Isaiah 59:2 כִּ֤י But kî אִם־ . . . ’im- עֲוֺנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ your iniquities ‘ă·wō·nō·ṯê·ḵem הָי֣וּ . . . hā·yū מַבְדִּלִ֔ים have built barriers maḇ·di·lîm בֵּינֵכֶ֕ם between you bê·nê·ḵem לְבֵ֖ין . . . lə·ḇên אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֑ם and your God , ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem וְחַטֹּֽאותֵיכֶ֗ם and your sins wə·ḥaṭ·ṭō·w·ṯê·ḵem הִסְתִּ֧ירוּ have hidden his·tî·rū פָנִ֛ים [His] face p̄ā·nîm מִכֶּ֖ם from you , mik·kem מִשְּׁמֽוֹעַ׃ so that He does not hear . miš·šə·mō·w·a‘ Isaiah 59:3 כִּ֤י For kî כַפֵּיכֶם֙ your hands ḵap·pê·ḵem נְגֹאֲל֣וּ are stained nə·ḡō·’ă·lū בַדָּ֔ם with blood , ḇad·dām וְאֶצְבְּעוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם and your fingers wə·’eṣ·bə·‘ō·w·ṯê·ḵem בֶּֽעָוֺ֑ן with iniquity ; be·‘ā·wōn שִׂפְתֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ your lips śip̄·ṯō·w·ṯê·ḵem דִּבְּרוּ־ have spoken dib·bə·rū- שֶׁ֔קֶר lies , še·qer לְשׁוֹנְכֶ֖ם and your tongue lə·šō·wn·ḵem תֶהְגֶּֽה׃ mutters ṯeh·geh עַוְלָ֥ה injustice . ‘aw·lāh Isaiah 59:4 אֵין־ No one ’ên- קֹרֵ֣א calls qō·rê בְצֶ֔דֶק for justice ; ḇə·ṣe·ḏeq וְאֵ֥ין no one wə·’ên נִשְׁפָּ֖ט pleads his case niš·pāṭ בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה honestly . be·’ĕ·mū·nāh בָּט֤וֹחַ They rely bā·ṭō·w·aḥ עַל־ on ‘al- תֹּ֙הוּ֙ empty [pleas] ; tō·hū וְדַבֶּר־ they tell wə·ḏab·ber- שָׁ֔וְא lies ; šāw הָר֥וֹ they conceive hā·rōw עָמָ֖ל mischief ‘ā·māl וְהוֹלֵ֥יד and give birth to wə·hō·w·lêḏ אָֽוֶן׃ iniquity . ’ā·wen Isaiah 59:5 בִּקֵּ֔עוּ They hatch biq·qê·‘ū בֵּיצֵ֤י the eggs bê·ṣê צִפְעוֹנִי֙ of vipers ṣip̄·‘ō·w·nî יֶאֱרֹ֑גוּ and weave ye·’ĕ·rō·ḡū עַכָּבִ֖ישׁ a spider’s ‘ak·kā·ḇîš וְקוּרֵ֥י web . wə·qū·rê הָאֹכֵ֤ל Whoever eats hā·’ō·ḵêl מִבֵּֽיצֵיהֶם֙ their eggs mib·bê·ṣê·hem יָמ֔וּת will die ; yā·mūṯ וְהַזּוּרֶ֖ה crack one open , wə·haz·zū·reh אֶפְעֶֽה׃ and a viper ’ep̄·‘eh תִּבָּקַ֥ע is hatched . tib·bā·qa‘ Isaiah 59:6 קֽוּרֵיהֶם֙ Their cobwebs qū·rê·hem לֹא־ cannot lō- יִהְי֣וּ be made into yih·yū לְבֶ֔גֶד clothing , lə·ḇe·ḡeḏ וְלֹ֥א and they cannot wə·lō יִתְכַּסּ֖וּ cover themselves yiṯ·kas·sū בְּמַֽעֲשֵׂיהֶ֑ם with their works . bə·ma·‘ă·śê·hem מַֽעֲשֵׂיהֶם֙ Their deeds ma·‘ă·śê·hem אָ֔וֶן are sinful ’ā·wen מַֽעֲשֵׂי־ deeds , ma·‘ă·śê- וּפֹ֥עַל and acts ū·p̄ō·‘al חָמָ֖ס of violence ḥā·mās בְּכַפֵּיהֶֽם׃ are in their hands . bə·ḵap·pê·hem Isaiah 59:7 רַגְלֵיהֶם֙ Their feet raḡ·lê·hem יָרֻ֔צוּ run yā·ru·ṣū לָרַ֣ע to evil ; lā·ra‘ וִֽימַהֲר֔וּ they are swift wî·ma·hă·rū לִשְׁפֹּ֖ךְ to shed liš·pōḵ נָקִ֑י innocent nā·qî דָּ֣ם blood . dām מַחְשְׁבֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ Their thoughts maḥ·šə·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem אָ֔וֶן are sinful ’ā·wen מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת thoughts ; maḥ·šə·ḇō·wṯ שֹׁ֥ד ruin šōḏ וָשֶׁ֖בֶר and destruction wā·še·ḇer בִּמְסִלּוֹתָֽם׃ lie in their wake . bim·sil·lō·w·ṯām Isaiah 59:8 דֶּ֤רֶךְ The way de·reḵ שָׁלוֹם֙ of peace šā·lō·wm לֹ֣א they have not lō יָדָ֔עוּ known , yā·ḏā·‘ū
