Isaiah 57:20 וְהָרְשָׁעִ֖ים But the wicked wə·hā·rə·šā·‘îm נִגְרָ֑שׁ are like the storm-tossed niḡ·rāš כַּיָּ֣ם sea , kay·yām כִּ֤י for kî לֹ֣א it cannot lō הַשְׁקֵט֙ be still haš·qêṭ יוּכָ֔ל . . . , yū·ḵāl מֵימָ֖יו and its waves mê·māw וַיִּגְרְשׁ֥וּ churn up way·yiḡ·rə·šū רֶ֥פֶשׁ mire re·p̄eš וָטִֽיט׃ and muck . wā·ṭîṭ Isaiah 57:21 אֵ֣ין “ There is no ’ên שָׁל֔וֹם peace , ” šā·lō·wm אָמַ֥ר says ’ā·mar אֱלֹהַ֖י my God , ’ĕ·lō·hay לָרְשָׁעִֽים׃ס “ for the wicked . ” lā·rə·šā·‘îm Isaiah 58:1 קְרָ֤א “ Cry qə·rā בְגָרוֹן֙ aloud , ḇə·ḡā·rō·wn אַל־ do not ’al- תַּחְשֹׂ֔ךְ hold back ! taḥ·śōḵ הָרֵ֣ם Raise hā·rêm קוֹלֶ֑ךָ your voice qō·w·le·ḵā כַּשּׁוֹפָ֖ר like a ram’s horn . kaš·šō·w·p̄ār וְהַגֵּ֤ד Declare wə·hag·gêḏ לְעַמִּי֙ to My people lə·‘am·mî פִּשְׁעָ֔ם their transgression piš·‘ām וּלְבֵ֥ית and to the house ū·lə·ḇêṯ יַעֲקֹ֖ב of Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ חַטֹּאתָֽם׃ their sins . ḥaṭ·ṭō·ṯām Isaiah 58:2 וְאוֹתִ֗י For wə·’ō·w·ṯî י֥וֹם day yō·wm יוֹם֙ after day yō·wm יִדְרֹשׁ֔וּן they seek Me yiḏ·rō·šūn יֶחְפָּצ֑וּן and delight yeḥ·pā·ṣūn וְדַ֥עַת to know wə·ḏa·‘aṯ דְּרָכַ֖י My ways , də·rā·ḵay כְּג֞וֹי like a nation kə·ḡō·w אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- עָשָׂ֗ה does ‘ā·śāh צְדָקָ֣ה what is right ṣə·ḏā·qāh לֹ֣א and does not lō עָזָ֔ב forsake ‘ā·zāḇ וּמִשְׁפַּ֤ט the justice ū·miš·paṭ אֱלֹהָיו֙ of their God . ’ĕ·lō·hāw יִשְׁאָל֙וּנִי֙ They ask Me yiš·’ā·lū·nî צֶ֔דֶק for righteous ṣe·ḏeq מִשְׁפְּטֵי־ judgments ; miš·pə·ṭê- יֶחְפָּצֽוּן׃ they delight yeḥ·pā·ṣūn קִרְבַ֥ת in the nearness qir·ḇaṯ אֱלֹהִ֖ים of God . ” ’ĕ·lō·hîm Isaiah 58:3 לָ֤מָּה “ Why lām·māh צַּ֙מְנוּ֙ have we fasted , ṣam·nū וְלֹ֣א and You have not wə·lō רָאִ֔יתָ seen ? rā·’î·ṯā עִנִּ֥ינוּ [Why] have we humbled ‘in·nî·nū נַפְשֵׁ֖נוּ ourselves , nap̄·šê·nū וְלֹ֣א and You have not wə·lō תֵדָ֑ע noticed ? ” ṯê·ḏā‘ הֵ֣ן “ Behold , hên בְּי֤וֹם on the day bə·yō·wm צֹֽמְכֶם֙ of your fast , ṣō·mə·ḵem תִּמְצְאוּ־ you do tim·ṣə·’ū- חֵ֔פֶץ as you please , ḥê·p̄eṣ תִּנְגֹּֽשׂוּ׃ and you oppress tin·gō·śū וְכָל־ all wə·ḵāl עַצְּבֵיכֶ֖ם your workers . ‘aṣ·ṣə·ḇê·ḵem Isaiah 58:4 הֵ֣ן - hên תָּצ֔וּמוּ You fast tā·ṣū·mū לְרִ֤יב with contention lə·rîḇ וּמַצָּה֙ and strife ū·maṣ·ṣāh וּלְהַכּ֖וֹת to strike ū·lə·hak·kō·wṯ רֶ֑שַׁע viciously re·ša‘ בְּאֶגְרֹ֣ף with your fist . bə·’eḡ·rōp̄ לֹא־ You cannot lō- תָצ֣וּמוּ fast ṯā·ṣū·mū כַיּ֔וֹם as you do today ḵay·yō·wm קוֹלְכֶֽם׃ and have your voice qō·wl·ḵem לְהַשְׁמִ֥יעַ be heard lə·haš·mî·a‘ בַּמָּר֖וֹם on high . bam·mā·rō·wm Isaiah 58:5 יִֽהְיֶה֙ Is yih·yeh הֲכָזֶ֗ה this hă·ḵā·zeh
