עַל־ in ‘al- עָפָ֗ר the dust , ‘ā·p̄ār בְּתוּלַת֙ O Virgin bə·ṯū·laṯ בַּת־ Daughter baṯ- בָּבֶ֔ל of Babylon . bā·ḇel שְׁבִי־ Sit šə·ḇî- לָאָ֥רֶץ on the ground lā·’ā·reṣ אֵין־ without ’ên- כִּסֵּ֖א a throne , kis·sê בַּת־ O Daughter baṯ- כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים of Chaldea ! kaś·dîm כִּ֣י For kî לֹ֤א you will no lō תוֹסִ֙יפִי֙ longer ṯō·w·sî·p̄î יִקְרְאוּ־ be called yiq·rə·’ū- לָ֔ךְ lāḵ רַכָּ֖ה tender rak·kāh וַעֲנֻגָּֽה׃ or delicate . wa·‘ă·nug·gāh Isaiah 47:2 קְחִ֥י Take qə·ḥî רֵחַ֖יִם millstones rê·ḥa·yim וְטַ֣חֲנִי and grind wə·ṭa·ḥă·nî קָ֑מַח flour ; qā·maḥ גַּלִּ֨י remove gal·lî צַמָּתֵ֧ךְ your veil ; ṣam·mā·ṯêḵ חֶשְׂפִּי־ strip off ḥeś·pî- שֹׁ֛בֶל your skirt , šō·ḇel גַּלִּי־ bare gal·lî- שׁ֖וֹק your thigh , šō·wq עִבְרִ֥י [and] wade through ‘iḇ·rî נְהָרֽוֹת׃ the streams . nə·hā·rō·wṯ Isaiah 47:3 עֶרְוָתֵ֔ךְ Your nakedness ‘er·wā·ṯêḵ תִּגָּל֙ will be uncovered tig·gāl גַּ֥ם and gam חֶרְפָּתֵ֑ךְ your shame ḥer·pā·ṯêḵ תֵּרָאֶ֖ה will be exposed . tê·rā·’eh אֶקָּ֔ח I will take ’eq·qāḥ נָקָ֣ם vengeance ; nā·qām אֶפְגַּ֖ע I will spare ’ep̄·ga‘ וְלֹ֥א no wə·lō אָדָֽם׃ס one . ” ’ā·ḏām Isaiah 47:4 גֹּאֲלֵ֕נוּ Our Redeemer — gō·’ă·lê·nū יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֖וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ שְׁמ֑וֹ is His name — šə·mōw קְד֖וֹשׁ [is] the Holy One qə·ḏō·wōš יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl Isaiah 47:5 שְׁבִ֥י “ Sit šə·ḇî דוּמָ֛ם in silence ḏū·mām וּבֹ֥אִי and go ū·ḇō·’î בַחֹ֖שֶׁךְ into darkness , ḇa·ḥō·šeḵ בַּת־ O Daughter baṯ- כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים of Chaldea . kaś·dîm כִּ֣י For kî לֹ֤א you will no lō תוֹסִ֙יפִי֙ longer ṯō·w·sî·p̄î יִקְרְאוּ־ be called yiq·rə·’ū- לָ֔ךְ lāḵ גְּבֶ֖רֶת the queen gə·ḇe·reṯ מַמְלָכֽוֹת׃ of kingdoms . mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ Isaiah 47:6 קָצַ֣פְתִּי I was angry qā·ṣap̄·tî עַל־ with ‘al- עַמִּ֗י My people ; ‘am·mî חִלַּ֙לְתִּי֙ I profaned ḥil·lal·tî נַחֲלָתִ֔י My heritage , na·ḥă·lā·ṯî וָאֶתְּנֵ֖ם and I placed them wā·’et·tə·nêm בְּיָדֵ֑ךְ under your control . bə·yā·ḏêḵ שַׂ֤מְתְּ You showed them śamt לָהֶם֙ . . . lā·hem לֹא־ no lō- רַחֲמִ֔ים mercy ; ra·ḥă·mîm עַל־ even on ‘al- זָקֵ֕ן the elderly zā·qên עֻלֵּ֖ךְ you laid a most heavy yoke ‘ul·lêḵ מְאֹֽד׃ . . . mə·’ōḏ הִכְבַּ֥דְתְּ . . . . hiḵ·baḏt Isaiah 47:7 וַתֹּ֣אמְרִ֔י You said , wat·tō·mə·rî אֶהְיֶ֣ה ‘ I will be ’eh·yeh גְבָ֑רֶת queen ḡə·ḇā·reṯ לְעוֹלָ֖ם forever lə·‘ō·w·lām עַ֣ד . ’ ‘aḏ לֹא־ You did not lō- שַׂ֥מְתְּ take śamt
