לִ֣י lî מָ֑ר anguish ; mār וְאַתָּ֞ה but Your wə·’at·tāh חָשַׁ֤קְתָּ love ḥā·šaq·tā נַפְשִׁי֙ has delivered me nap̄·šî מִשַּׁ֣חַת from the pit miš·ša·ḥaṯ בְּלִ֔י of oblivion , bə·lî כִּ֥י for kî הִשְׁלַ֛כְתָּ You have cast hiš·laḵ·tā כָּל־ all kāl- חֲטָאָֽי׃ my sins ḥă·ṭā·’āy אַחֲרֵ֥י behind ’a·ḥă·rê גֵוְךָ֖ Your back . ḡê·wə·ḵā Isaiah 38:18 כִּ֣י For kî שְׁא֛וֹל Sheol šə·’ō·wl לֹ֥א cannot lō תּוֹדֶ֖ךָּ thank You ; tō·w·ḏe·kā מָ֣וֶת Death mā·weṯ יְהַלְלֶ֑ךָּ cannot praise You . yə·hal·le·kā יֽוֹרְדֵי־ Those who descend yō·wr·ḏê- ב֖וֹר to the Pit ḇō·wr לֹֽא־ cannot lō- יְשַׂבְּר֥וּ hope yə·śab·bə·rū אֶל־ for ’el- אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ Your faithfulness . ’ă·mit·te·ḵā Isaiah 38:19 חַ֥י The living , ḥay חַ֛י only the living , ḥay ה֥וּא . . . hū יוֹדֶ֖ךָ can thank You , yō·w·ḏe·ḵā כָּמ֣וֹנִי as I do today kā·mō·w·nî הַיּ֑וֹם . . . ; hay·yō·wm אָ֣ב fathers ’āḇ יוֹדִ֖יעַ will tell yō·w·ḏî·a‘ לְבָנִ֔ים their children lə·ḇā·nîm אֶל־ about ’el- אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ Your faithfulness . ’ă·mit·te·ḵā Isaiah 38:20 יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh לְהוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי will save me ; lə·hō·wō·šî·‘ê·nî נְנַגֵּ֛ן we will play songs nə·nag·gên וּנְגִנוֹתַ֧י on stringed instruments ū·nə·ḡi·nō·w·ṯay כָּל־ all kāl- יְמֵ֥י the days yə·mê חַיֵּ֖ינוּ of our lives ḥay·yê·nū עַל־ in ‘al- בֵּ֥ית the house bêṯ יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH . Yah·weh Isaiah 38:21 יְשַׁעְיָ֔הוּ Now Isaiah yə·ša‘·yā·hū וַיֹּ֣אמֶר had said , way·yō·mer יִשְׂא֖וּ “ Prepare yiś·’ū דְּבֶ֣לֶת a lump də·ḇe·leṯ תְּאֵנִ֑ים of pressed figs tə·’ê·nîm וְיִמְרְח֥וּ and apply wə·yim·rə·ḥū עַֽל־ it to ‘al- הַשְּׁחִ֖ין the boil , haš·šə·ḥîn וְיֶֽחִי׃ and he will recover . ” wə·ye·ḥî Isaiah 38:22 חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ And Hezekiah ḥiz·qî·yā·hū וַיֹּ֥אמֶר had asked , way·yō·mer מָ֣ה “ What māh א֑וֹת will be the sign ’ō·wṯ כִּ֥י that kî אֶעֱלֶ֖ה I will go up ’e·‘ĕ·leh בֵּ֥ית to the house bêṯ יְהוָֽה׃ס of YHWH ? ” Yah·weh Isaiah 39:1 הַהִ֡וא At that ha·hi·w בָּעֵ֣ת time bā·‘êṯ בַּ֠לְאֲדָן Merodach-baladan bal·’ă·ḏān בֶּֽן־ son ben- בַּלְאֲדָ֧ן of Baladan bal·’ă·ḏān מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- בָּבֶ֛ל of Babylon bā·ḇel שָׁלַ֡ח sent šā·laḥ מְרֹדַ֣ךְ mə·rō·ḏaḵ סְפָרִ֥ים letters sə·p̄ā·rîm וּמִנְחָ֖ה and a gift ū·min·ḥāh אֶל־ to ’el- חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ Hezekiah , ḥiz·qî·yā·hū וַיִּשְׁמַ֕ע for he had heard way·yiš·ma‘ כִּ֥י about kî חָלָ֖ה [Hezekiah’s] illness ḥā·lāh וַֽיֶּחֱזָֽק׃ and recovery . way·ye·ḥĕ·zāq
