וְלֹ֤א They do not wə·lō שָׁעוּ֙ look šā·‘ū עַל־ to ‘al- קְד֣וֹשׁ the Holy qə·ḏō·wōš יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל One of Israel ; yiś·rā·’êl וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לֹ֥א they do not lō דָרָֽשׁוּ׃ seek ḏā·rā·šū יְהוָ֖ה YHWH . Yah·weh Isaiah 31:2 ה֤וּא Yet hū וְגַם־ He too wə·ḡam- חָכָם֙ [is] wise ḥā·ḵām וַיָּ֣בֵא and brings way·yā·ḇê רָ֔ע disaster ; rā‘ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לֹ֣א He does not lō הֵסִ֑יר call back hê·sîr דְּבָרָ֖יו His words . də·ḇā·rāw וְקָם֙ He will rise up wə·qām עַל־ against ‘al- בֵּ֣ית the house bêṯ מְרֵעִ֔ים of the wicked mə·rê·‘îm וְעַל־ and against wə·‘al- עֶזְרַ֖ת the allies ‘ez·raṯ פֹּ֥עֲלֵי of evildoers pō·‘ă·lê אָֽוֶן׃ . . . . ’ā·wen Isaiah 31:3 וּמִצְרַ֤יִם But the Egyptians ū·miṣ·ra·yim אָדָם֙ are men , ’ā·ḏām וְֽלֹא־ not wə·lō- אֵ֔ל God ; ’êl וְסוּסֵיהֶ֥ם their horses wə·sū·sê·hem בָּשָׂ֖ר are flesh , bā·śār וְלֹא־ not wə·lō- ר֑וּחַ spirit . rū·aḥ וַֽיהוָ֞ה When YHWH Yah·weh יַטֶּ֣ה stretches out yaṭ·ṭeh יָד֗וֹ His hand , yā·ḏōw עוֹזֵר֙ the helper ‘ō·w·zêr וְכָשַׁ֤ל will stumble , wə·ḵā·šal עָזֻ֔ר and the one he helps ‘ā·zur וְנָפַ֣ל will fall ; wə·nā·p̄al כֻּלָּ֥ם both kul·lām יִכְלָיֽוּן׃ס will perish yiḵ·lā·yūn וְיַחְדָּ֖ו together . wə·yaḥ·dāw Isaiah 31:4 כִּ֣י For kî כֹ֣ה this is what ḵōh יְהוָ֣ה׀ YHWH Yah·weh אָֽמַר־ has said ’ā·mar- אֵלַ֡י to me : ’ê·lay כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר “ Like ka·’ă·šer הָאַרְיֵ֨ה a lion hā·’ar·yêh יֶהְגֶּה֩ roaring yeh·geh וְהַכְּפִ֜יר or a young lion wə·hak·kə·p̄îr עַל־ over ‘al- טַרְפּ֗וֹ its prey — ṭar·pōw אֲשֶׁ֨ר and though ’ă·šer מְלֹ֣א a band mə·lō רֹעִ֔ים of shepherds rō·‘îm יִקָּרֵ֤א is called out yiq·qā·rê עָלָיו֙ against it , ‘ā·lāw לֹ֣א it is not lō יֵחָ֔ת terrified yê·ḥāṯ מִקּוֹלָם֙ by their shouting miq·qō·w·lām יַֽעֲנֶ֑ה or subdued ya·‘ă·neh וּמֵֽהֲמוֹנָ֖ם by their clamor ū·mê·hă·mō·w·nām לֹ֣א . . . — lō כֵּ֗ן so kên יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֔וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ יֵרֵד֙ will come down yê·rêḏ לִצְבֹּ֥א to do battle liṣ·bō עַל־ on ‘al- הַר־ Mount har- צִיּ֖וֹן Zion ṣî·yō·wn וְעַל־ [and] wə·‘al- גִּבְעָתָֽהּ׃ its heights . giḇ·‘ā·ṯāh Isaiah 31:5 כְּצִפֳּרִ֣ים Like birds kə·ṣip·po·rîm עָפ֔וֹת hovering overhead , ‘ā·p̄ō·wṯ כֵּ֗ן so kên יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֖וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ עַל־ . . . ‘al- יָגֵ֛ן will protect yā·ḡên יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim גָּנ֥וֹן He will shield it gā·nō·wn וְהִצִּ֖יל and deliver it ; wə·hiṣ·ṣîl פָּסֹ֥חַ He will pass over it pā·sō·aḥ וְהִמְלִֽיט׃ and preserve it . ” wə·him·lîṭ
