מִנִּ֔י Mine , min·nî וְלִנְסֹ֥ךְ who form wə·lin·sōḵ מַסֵּכָ֖ה an alliance , mas·sê·ḵāh וְלֹ֣א but against wə·lō רוּחִ֑י My will rū·ḥî לְמַ֛עַן . . . , lə·ma·‘an סְפ֥וֹת heaping up sə·p̄ō·wṯ חַטָּ֖את sin ḥaṭ·ṭāṯ עַל־ upon ‘al- חַטָּֽאת׃ sin . ḥaṭ·ṭāṯ Isaiah 30:2 הַהֹלְכִים֙ They set out ha·hō·lə·ḵîm לָרֶ֣דֶת to go down lā·re·ḏeṯ מִצְרַ֔יִם to Egypt miṣ·ra·yim לֹ֣א without lō שָׁאָ֑לוּ asking šā·’ā·lū וּפִ֖י My advice , ū·p̄î לָעוֹז֙ to seek shelter lā·‘ō·wz פַּרְעֹ֔ה under Pharaoh’s par·‘ōh בְּמָע֣וֹז protection bə·mā·‘ō·wz וְלַחְס֖וֹת and take refuge wə·laḥ·sō·wṯ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ in Egypt’s miṣ·rā·yim בְּצֵ֥ל shade . bə·ṣêl Isaiah 30:3 פַּרְעֹ֖ה But Pharaoh’s par·‘ōh מָע֥וֹז protection mā·‘ō·wz וְהָיָ֥ה will become wə·hā·yāh לָכֶ֛ם your lā·ḵem לְבֹ֑שֶׁת shame , lə·ḇō·šeṯ וְהֶחָס֥וּת and the refuge wə·he·ḥā·sūṯ מִצְרַ֖יִם of Egypt’s miṣ·ra·yim בְּצֵל־ shade bə·ṣêl- לִכְלִמָּֽה׃ your disgrace . liḵ·lim·māh Isaiah 30:4 כִּֽי־ For though kî- שָׂרָ֑יו their princes śā·rāw הָי֥וּ are hā·yū בְצֹ֖עַן at Zoan ḇə·ṣō·‘an וּמַלְאָכָ֖יו and their envoys ū·mal·’ā·ḵāw יַגִּֽיעוּ׃ have arrived yag·gî·‘ū חָנֵ֥ס in Hanes , ḥā·nês Isaiah 30:5 כֹּ֣ל everyone kōl הִבְאִישׁ will be put to shame hiḇ·ʾīš עַל־ because of ‘al- עַ֖ם a people ‘am לֹא־ vvv lō- יוֹעִ֣ילוּ useless yō·w·‘î·lū לָ֑מוֹ to them . lā·mōw לֹ֤א They cannot lō לְעֵ֙זֶר֙ be of help ; lə·‘ê·zer לְהוֹעִ֔יל they are good lə·hō·w·‘îl וְלֹ֣א for nothing wə·lō כִּ֥י but kî לְבֹ֖שֶׁת shame lə·ḇō·šeṯ וְגַם־ . . . wə·ḡam- לְחֶרְפָּֽה׃ס and reproach . ” lə·ḥer·pāh Isaiah 30:6 מַשָּׂ֖א [This is] the burden maś·śā בַּהֲמ֣וֹת against the beasts ba·hă·mō·wṯ נֶ֑גֶב of the Negev : ne·ḡeḇ בְּאֶרֶץ֩ Through a land bə·’e·reṣ צָרָ֨ה of hardship ṣā·rāh וְצוּקָ֜ה and distress , wə·ṣū·qāh לָבִ֧יא of lioness lā·ḇî וָלַ֣יִשׁ and lion , wā·la·yiš מֵהֶ֗ם . . . mê·hem אֶפְעֶה֙ of viper ’ep̄·‘eh מְעוֹפֵ֔ף and flying mə·‘ō·w·p̄êp̄ וְשָׂרָ֣ף serpent , wə·śā·rāp̄ יִשְׂאוּ֩ they carry yiś·’ū חֵֽילֵהֶ֗ם their wealth ḥê·lê·hem עַל־ on ‘al- כֶּ֨תֶף the backs ke·ṯep̄ עֲיָרִ֜ים of donkeys ‘ă·yā·rîm אֽוֹצְרֹתָ֔ם and their treasures ’ō·wṣ·rō·ṯām וְעַל־ on wə·‘al- דַּבֶּ֤שֶׁת the humps dab·be·šeṯ גְּמַלִּים֙ of camels , gə·mal·lîm עַל־ to ‘al- עַ֖ם a people ‘am לֹ֥א of no lō יוֹעִֽילוּ׃ profit to them . yō·w·‘î·lū Isaiah 30:7 וּמִצְרַ֕יִם Egypt’s ū·miṣ·ra·yim יַעְזֹ֑רוּ help ya‘·zō·rū הֶ֥בֶל is futile he·ḇel וָרִ֖יק and empty ; wā·rîq
