Isaiah 28:17 וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י I will make wə·śam·tî מִשְׁפָּט֙ justice miš·pāṭ לְקָ֔ו the measuring line lə·qāw וּצְדָקָ֖ה and righteousness ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh לְמִשְׁקָ֑לֶת the level . lə·miš·qā·leṯ בָרָד֙ Hail ḇā·rāḏ וְיָעָ֤ה will sweep away wə·yā·‘āh מַחְסֵ֣ה your refuge maḥ·sêh כָזָ֔ב of lies , ḵā·zāḇ מַ֖יִם and water ma·yim יִשְׁטֹֽפוּ׃ will flood yiš·ṭō·p̄ū וְסֵ֥תֶר your hiding place . wə·sê·ṯer Isaiah 28:18 בְּרִֽיתְכֶם֙ Your covenant bə·rî·ṯə·ḵem אֶת־ with ’eṯ- מָ֔וֶת death mā·weṯ וְכֻפַּ֤ר will be dissolved , wə·ḵup·par וְחָזוּתְכֶ֥ם and your agreement wə·ḥā·zū·ṯə·ḵem אֶת־ with ’eṯ- שְׁא֖וֹל Sheol šə·’ō·wl לֹ֣א will not lō תָק֑וּם stand . ṯā·qūm כִּ֣י When kî שׁוֹטֵף֙ the overwhelming šō·w·ṭêp̄ שׁ֤וֹט scourge šō·wṭ יַֽעֲבֹ֔ר passes through , ya·‘ă·ḇōr וִהְיִ֥יתֶם you will be wih·yî·ṯem ל֖וֹ lōw לְמִרְמָֽס׃ trampled by it . lə·mir·mās Isaiah 28:19 מִדֵּ֤י As often as mid·dê עָבְרוֹ֙ it passes through , ‘ā·ḇə·rōw יִקַּ֣ח it will carry you away yiq·qaḥ אֶתְכֶ֔ם - ’eṯ·ḵem כִּֽי־ - ; kî- יַעֲבֹ֖ר it will sweep through ya·‘ă·ḇōr בַבֹּ֧קֶר morning ḇab·bō·qer בַּבֹּ֛קֶר after morning , bab·bō·qer בַּיּ֣וֹם by day bay·yō·wm וּבַלָּ֑יְלָה and by night ū·ḇal·lā·yə·lāh וְהָיָ֥ה . . . . ” wə·hā·yāh הָבִ֥ין The understanding hā·ḇîn שְׁמוּעָֽה׃ of [this] message šə·mū·‘āh רַק־ [will bring] sheer raq- זְוָעָ֖ה terror . zə·wā·‘āh Isaiah 28:20 כִּֽי־ Indeed , kî- הַמַּצָּ֖ע the bed ham·maṣ·ṣā‘ קָצַ֥ר is too short qā·ṣar מֵֽהִשְׂתָּרֵ֑עַ to stretch out on , mê·hiś·tā·rê·a‘ וְהַמַּסֵּכָ֥ה and the blanket wə·ham·mas·sê·ḵāh צָ֖רָה too small ṣā·rāh כְּהִתְכַּנֵּֽס׃ to wrap around you . kə·hiṯ·kan·nês Isaiah 28:21 כִּ֤י For kî יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh יָק֣וּם will rise up yā·qūm כְהַר־ as at Mount ḵə·har- פְּרָצִים֙ Perazim . pə·rā·ṣîm יִרְגָּ֑ז He will rouse Himself yir·gāz כְּעֵ֖מֶק as [in] the Valley kə·‘ê·meq בְּגִבְע֣וֹן of Gibeon , bə·ḡiḇ·‘ō·wn לַעֲשׂ֤וֹת to do la·‘ă·śō·wṯ מַעֲשֵׂ֙הוּ֙ His work , ma·‘ă·śê·hū זָ֣ר His strange zār מַעֲשֵׂ֔הוּ work , ma·‘ă·śê·hū וְלַֽעֲבֹד֙ and to perform wə·la·‘ă·ḇōḏ עֲבֹ֣דָת֔וֹ His task , ‘ă·ḇō·ḏā·ṯōw נָכְרִיָּ֖ה His disturbing nā·ḵə·rî·yāh עֲבֹדָתֽוֹ׃ task . ‘ă·ḇō·ḏā·ṯōw Isaiah 28:22 וְעַתָּה֙ So now , wə·‘at·tāh אַל־ do not ’al- תִּתְלוֹצָ֔צוּ mock , tiṯ·lō·w·ṣā·ṣū פֶּֽן־ or pen- מֽוֹסְרֵיכֶ֑ם your shackles mō·ws·rê·ḵem יֶחְזְק֖וּ will become heavier . yeḥ·zə·qū כִּֽי־ Indeed , kî- שָׁמַ֗עְתִּי I have heard šā·ma‘·tî מֵאֵ֨ת - mê·’êṯ אֲדֹנָ֧י from the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֛ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֖וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ וְנֶחֱרָצָ֜ה a decree wə·ne·ḥĕ·rā·ṣāh כָלָ֨ה of destruction ḵā·lāh עַל־ against ‘al- כָּל־ the whole kāl- הָאָֽרֶץ׃ land . hā·’ā·reṣ
