וּבֽוֹלְקָ֑הּ and leaves it in ruins . ū·ḇō·wl·qāh וְעִוָּ֣ה He will twist wə·‘iw·wāh פָנֶ֔יהָ its surface p̄ā·ne·hā וְהֵפִ֖יץ and scatter wə·hê·p̄îṣ יֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃ its inhabitants — yō·šə·ḇe·hā Isaiah 24:2 וְהָיָ֤ה - wə·hā·yāh כָעָם֙ people ḵā·‘ām כַּכֹּהֵ֔ן and priest alike , kak·kō·hên כַּעֶ֙בֶד֙ servant ka·‘e·ḇeḏ כַּֽאדֹנָ֔יו and master , ka·ḏō·nāw כַּשִּׁפְחָ֖ה maid kaš·šip̄·ḥāh כַּגְּבִרְתָּ֑הּ and mistress , kag·gə·ḇir·tāh כַּקּוֹנֶה֙ buyer kaq·qō·w·neh כַּמּוֹכֵ֔ר and seller , kam·mō·w·ḵêr כַּמַּלְוֶה֙ lender kam·mal·weh כַּלֹּוֶ֔ה and borrower , kal·lō·weh כַּנֹּשֶׁ֕ה . . . kan·nō·šeh כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר - ka·’ă·šer נֹשֶׁ֥א creditor nō·še בֽוֹ׃ and debtor . ḇōw Isaiah 24:3 הָאָ֖רֶץ The earth hā·’ā·reṣ הִבּ֧וֹק׀ will be utterly hib·bō·wq תִּבּ֛וֹק laid waste tib·bō·wq וְהִבּ֣וֹז׀ and thoroughly wə·hib·bō·wz תִּבּ֑וֹז plundered . tib·bō·wz כִּ֣י For kî יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh דִּבֶּ֖ר has spoken dib·ber אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּֽה׃ this haz·zeh הַדָּבָ֥ר word . had·dā·ḇār Isaiah 24:4 הָאָ֔רֶץ The earth hā·’ā·reṣ אָבְלָ֤ה mourns ’ā·ḇə·lāh נָֽבְלָה֙ and withers ; nā·ḇə·lāh תֵּבֵ֑ל the world tê·ḇêl אֻמְלְלָ֥ה languishes ’um·lə·lāh נָבְלָ֖ה and fades ; nā·ḇə·lāh מְר֥וֹם the exalted mə·rō·wm עַם־ - ‘am- הָאָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth hā·’ā·reṣ אֻמְלָ֖לוּ waste away . ’um·lā·lū Isaiah 24:5 וְהָאָ֥רֶץ The earth wə·hā·’ā·reṣ חָנְפָ֖ה is defiled ḥā·nə·p̄āh תַּ֣חַת by ta·ḥaṯ יֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָ its people ; yō·šə·ḇe·hā כִּֽי־ - kî- עָבְר֤וּ they have transgressed ‘ā·ḇə·rū תוֹרֹת֙ the laws ; ṯō·w·rōṯ חָ֣לְפוּ they have overstepped ḥā·lə·p̄ū חֹ֔ק the decrees ḥōq הֵפֵ֖רוּ and broken hê·p̄ê·rū עוֹלָֽם׃ the everlasting ‘ō·w·lām בְּרִ֥ית covenant . bə·rîṯ Isaiah 24:6 עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּ֗ן . . . kên אָלָה֙ a curse ’ā·lāh אָ֣כְלָה has consumed ’ā·ḵə·lāh אֶ֔רֶץ the earth , ’e·reṣ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי and its inhabitants yō·šə·ḇê בָ֑הּ ḇāh וַֽיֶּאְשְׁמ֖וּ must bear the guilt ; way·ye’·šə·mū אֶ֔רֶץ the earth’s ’e·reṣ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי dwellers yō·šə·ḇê עַל־ - ‘al- כֵּ֗ן - kên חָרוּ֙ have been burned , ḥā·rū אֱנ֖וֹשׁ and only a few ’ĕ·nō·wōš מִזְעָֽר׃ . . . miz·‘ār וְנִשְׁאַ֥ר survive . wə·niš·’ar Isaiah 24:7 תִּיר֖וֹשׁ The new wine tî·rō·wōš אָבַ֥ל dries up , ’ā·ḇal גָ֑פֶן the vine ḡā·p̄en אֻמְלְלָה־ withers . ’um·lə·lāh- כָּל־ All kāl- שִׂמְחֵי־ the merrymakers śim·ḥê- לֵֽב׃ . . . lêḇ נֶאֶנְח֖וּ now groan . ne·’en·ḥū Isaiah 24:8 מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ The joyful mə·śō·wś תֻּפִּ֔ים tambourines tup·pîm
