Isaiah 23:7 הֲזֹ֥את Is this hă·zōṯ לָכֶ֖ם your lā·ḵem עַלִּיזָ֑ה jubilant city , ‘al·lî·zāh קַדְמָתָהּ֙ whose origin qaḏ·mā·ṯāh קֶ֤דֶם is from antiquity qe·ḏem מִֽימֵי־ . . . , mî·mê- רַגְלֶ֔יהָ whose feet raḡ·le·hā יֹבִל֣וּהָ have taken her yō·ḇi·lū·hā לָגֽוּר׃ to settle lā·ḡūr מֵֽרָח֖וֹק far away ? mê·rā·ḥō·wq Isaiah 23:8 מִ֚י Who mî יָעַ֣ץ planned yā·‘aṣ זֹ֔את this zōṯ עַל־ against ‘al- צֹ֖ר Tyre , ṣōr הַמַּֽעֲטִירָ֑ה the bestower of crowns , ham·ma·‘ă·ṭî·rāh אֲשֶׁ֤ר whose ’ă·šer סֹחֲרֶ֙יה֙ traders sō·ḥă·reh שָׂרִ֔ים are princes , śā·rîm כִּנְעָנֶ֖יהָ whose merchants kin·‘ā·ne·hā נִכְבַּדֵּי־ are renowned niḵ·bad·dê- אָֽרֶץ׃ on the earth ? ’ā·reṣ Isaiah 23:9 יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֖וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ יְעָצָ֑הּ planned it , yə·‘ā·ṣāh לְחַלֵּל֙ to defile lə·ḥal·lêl כָּל־ all kāl- גְּא֣וֹן its glorious gə·’ō·wn צְבִ֔י beauty , ṣə·ḇî לְהָקֵ֖ל to disgrace lə·hā·qêl כָּל־ all kāl- נִכְבַּדֵּי־ the renowned niḵ·bad·dê- אָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth . ’ā·reṣ Isaiah 23:10 עִבְרִ֥י Cultivate ‘iḇ·rî אַרְצֵ֖ךְ your land ’ar·ṣêḵ כַּיְאֹ֑ר like the Nile , kay·’ōr בַּת־ O Daughter baṯ- תַּרְשִׁ֕ישׁ of Tarshish ; tar·šîš אֵ֖ין there is no ’ên עֽוֹד׃ longer ‘ō·wḏ מֵ֥זַח a harbor . mê·zaḥ Isaiah 23:11 נָטָ֣ה [YHWH] has stretched out nā·ṭāh יָדוֹ֙ His hand yā·ḏōw עַל־ over ‘al- הַיָּ֔ם the sea ; hay·yām מַמְלָכ֑וֹת He has made kingdoms mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ הִרְגִּ֖יז tremble . hir·gîz יְהוָה֙ [He] Yah·weh צִוָּ֣ה has given a command ṣiw·wāh אֶל־ that ’el- מָעֻזְנֶֽיהָ׃ the strongholds mā·‘uz·ne·hā כְּנַ֔עַן of Canaan kə·na·‘an לַשְׁמִ֖ד be destroyed . laš·miḏ Isaiah 23:12 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר He said , way·yō·mer לַעְל֑וֹז “ You shall rejoice la‘·lō·wz לֹֽא־ no lō- תוֹסִ֥יפִי more ṯō·w·sî·p̄î ע֖וֹד . . . , ‘ō·wḏ הַֽמְעֻשָּׁקָ֞ה O oppressed ham·‘uš·šā·qāh בְּתוּלַ֣ת Virgin bə·ṯū·laṯ בַּת־ Daughter baṯ- צִיד֗וֹן of Sidon . ṣî·ḏō·wn ק֣וּמִי Get up qū·mî עֲבֹ֔רִי and cross over ‘ă·ḇō·rî כִּתִּיִּים to Cyprus — kit·tī·yīm גַּם־ even gam- שָׁ֖ם there šām לֹא־ you will find no lō- יָנ֥וּחַֽ rest yā·nū·aḥ לָֽךְ׃ . ” lāḵ Isaiah 23:13 הֵ֣ן׀ Look at hên אֶ֣רֶץ the land ’e·reṣ זֶ֤ה of the zeh כַּשְׂדִּ֗ים Chaldeans — kaś·dîm הָעָם֙ a people hā·‘ām לֹ֣א now lō הָיָ֔ה of no account . hā·yāh אַשּׁ֖וּר The Assyrians ’aš·šūr יְסָדָ֣הּ destined it yə·sā·ḏāh לְצִיִּ֑ים for the desert creatures ; lə·ṣî·yîm
