כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר just as ka·’ă·šer יְהוָֽה׃ס YHWH Yah·weh דִּבֶּ֥ר had said . dib·ber Exodus 8:16 יְהוָה֮ Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁה֒ Moses , mō·šeh אֱמֹר֙ “ Tell ’ĕ·mōr אֶֽל־ . . . ’el- אַהֲרֹ֔ן Aaron , ’a·hă·rōn נְטֵ֣ה ‘ Stretch out nə·ṭêh אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- מַטְּךָ֔ your staff maṭ·ṭə·ḵā וְהַ֖ךְ and strike wə·haḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲפַ֣ר the dust ‘ă·p̄ar הָאָ֑רֶץ of the earth , hā·’ā·reṣ וְהָיָ֥ה that it may turn into wə·hā·yāh לְכִנִּ֖ם swarms of gnats lə·ḵin·nim בְּכָל־ throughout bə·ḵāl אֶ֥רֶץ the land ’e·reṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt . ’” miṣ·rā·yim Exodus 8:17 וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ־ This they did way·ya·‘ă·śū- כֵ֗ן . . . , ḵên אַהֲרֹ֨ן and when Aaron ’a·hă·rōn אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיֵּט֩ stretched out way·yêṭ יָד֤וֹ his hand yā·ḏōw בְמַטֵּ֙הוּ֙ with his staff ḇə·maṭ·ṭê·hū וַיַּךְ֙ and struck way·yaḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲפַ֣ר the dust ‘ă·p̄ar הָאָ֔רֶץ of the earth , hā·’ā·reṣ הַכִּנָּ֔ם gnats hak·kin·nām וַתְּהִי֙ came upon wat·tə·hî בָּאָדָ֖ם man bā·’ā·ḏām וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה and beast . ū·ḇab·bə·hê·māh כָּל־ All kāl- עֲפַ֥ר the dust ‘ă·p̄ar הָאָ֛רֶץ of the earth hā·’ā·reṣ הָיָ֥ה turned into hā·yāh כִנִּ֖ים gnats ḵin·nîm בְּכָל־ throughout bə·ḵāl אֶ֥רֶץ the land ’e·reṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ of Egypt . miṣ·rā·yim Exodus 8:18 הַחַרְטֻמִּ֧ים The magicians ha·ḥar·ṭum·mîm וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־ tried way·ya·‘ă·śū- כֵ֨ן . . . ḵên לְהוֹצִ֥יא to produce lə·hō·w·ṣî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַכִּנִּ֖ים gnats hak·kin·nîm בְּלָטֵיהֶ֛ם using their magic arts , bə·lā·ṭê·hem יָכֹ֑לוּ but they could yā·ḵō·lū וְלֹ֣א not . wə·lō הַכִּנָּ֔ם And the gnats hak·kin·nām וַתְּהִי֙ remained wat·tə·hî בָּאָדָ֖ם on man bā·’ā·ḏām וּבַבְּהֵמָֽה׃ and beast . ū·ḇab·bə·hê·māh Exodus 8:19 הִ֑וא “ This hî אֶצְבַּ֥ע is the finger ’eṣ·ba‘ אֱלֹהִ֖ים of God , ” ’ĕ·lō·hîm הַֽחַרְטֻמִּים֙ the magicians ha·ḥar·ṭum·mîm וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- פַּרְעֹ֔ה Pharaoh . par·‘ōh פַּרְעֹה֙ But Pharaoh’s par·‘ōh לֵב־ heart lêḇ- וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק was hardened , way·ye·ḥĕ·zaq וְלֹֽא־ and he would not wə·lō- שָׁמַ֣ע listen šā·ma‘ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם to them , ’ă·lê·hem כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר just as ka·’ă·šer יְהוָֽה׃ס YHWH Yah·weh דִּבֶּ֥ר had said . dib·ber Exodus 8:20 יְהוָ֜ה Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- מֹשֶׁ֗ה Moses , mō·šeh הַשְׁכֵּ֤ם “ Get up early haš·kêm בַּבֹּ֙קֶר֙ in the morning , bab·bō·qer פַרְעֹ֔ה and when Pharaoh p̄ar·‘ōh הִנֵּ֖ה vvv hin·nêh יוֹצֵ֣א goes out yō·w·ṣê הַמָּ֑יְמָה to the water , ham·mā·yə·māh וְהִתְיַצֵּב֙ stand wə·hiṯ·yaṣ·ṣêḇ
