וּֽלְאַהֲרֹ֑ן and Aaron ū·lə·’a·hă·rōn וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and said , way·yō·mer לְכ֛וּ “ Go , lə·ḵū זִבְח֥וּ sacrifice ziḇ·ḥū לֵֽאלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם to your God lê·lō·hê·ḵem בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ within this land . ” bā·’ā·reṣ Exodus 8:26 מֹשֶׁ֗ה But Moses mō·šeh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר replied , way·yō·mer לֹ֤א “ It would not lō נָכוֹן֙ be right nā·ḵō·wn לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת to do la·‘ă·śō·wṯ כֵּ֔ן that , kên כִּ֚י because kî נִזְבַּ֖ח the sacrifices we offer niz·baḥ לַיהוָ֣ה to YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת would be detestable tō·w·‘ă·ḇaṯ מִצְרַ֔יִם to the Egyptians . miṣ·ra·yim הֵ֣ן If hên נִזְבַּ֞ח we offer sacrifices niz·baḥ אֶת־ that are ’eṯ- תּוֹעֲבַ֥ת detestable tō·w·‘ă·ḇaṯ לְעֵינֵיהֶ֖ם before lə·‘ê·nê·hem מִצְרַ֛יִם the Egyptians , miṣ·ra·yim וְלֹ֥א will they not wə·lō יִסְקְלֻֽנוּ׃ stone us ? yis·qə·lu·nū Exodus 8:27 נֵלֵ֖ךְ We must make nê·lêḵ שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת a three-day šə·lō·šeṯ יָמִ֔ים . . . yā·mîm דֶּ֚רֶךְ journey de·reḵ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר into the wilderness bam·miḏ·bār וְזָבַ֙חְנוּ֙ and sacrifice wə·zā·ḇaḥ·nū לַֽיהוָ֣ה to YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר as ka·’ă·šer יֹאמַ֥ר He commands us yō·mar אֵלֵֽינוּ׃ . . . . ” ’ê·lê·nū Exodus 8:28 פַּרְעֹ֗ה Pharaoh par·‘ōh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר answered , way·yō·mer אָנֹכִ֞י “ I ’ā·nō·ḵî אֲשַׁלַּ֤ח will let you go ’ă·šal·laḥ אֶתְכֶם֙ - ’eṯ·ḵem וּזְבַחְתֶּ֞ם and sacrifice ū·zə·ḇaḥ·tem לַיהוָ֤ה to YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ your God ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר in the wilderness , bam·miḏ·bār רַ֛ק but raq לֹא־ you must not lō- לָלֶ֑כֶת go lā·le·ḵeṯ הַרְחֵ֥ק very far har·ḥêq תַרְחִ֖יקוּ . . . . ṯar·ḥî·qū הַעְתִּ֖ירוּ Now pray ha‘·tî·rū בַּעֲדִֽי׃ for me . ” ba·‘ă·ḏî Exodus 8:29 אָנֹכִ֜י “ As soon as I ’ā·nō·ḵî יוֹצֵ֤א leave you , ” yō·w·ṣê מֵֽעִמָּךְ֙ . . . mê·‘im·māḵ מֹשֶׁ֗ה Moses mō·šeh הִנֵּ֨ה . . . hin·nêh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said , way·yō·mer וְהַעְתַּרְתִּ֣י “ I will pray wə·ha‘·tar·tî אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh מָחָ֑ר so that tomorrow mā·ḥār הֶעָרֹ֗ב the swarms [of flies] he·‘ā·rōḇ וְסָ֣ר will depart wə·sār מִפַּרְעֹ֛ה from Pharaoh mip·par·‘ōh מֵעֲבָדָ֥יו and his officials mê·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw וּמֵעַמּ֖וֹ and his people . ū·mê·‘am·mōw רַ֗ק But raq פַּרְעֹה֙ Pharaoh par·‘ōh אַל־ must not ’al- הָתֵ֔ל act deceitfully hā·ṯêl יֹסֵ֤ף again yō·sêp̄ לְבִלְתִּי֙ by refusing lə·ḇil·tî הָעָ֔ם to let the people hā·‘ām שַׁלַּ֣ח go šal·laḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לִזְבֹּ֖חַ and sacrifice liz·bō·aḥ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ to YHWH . ” Yah·weh Exodus 8:30 מֹשֶׁ֖ה Then Moses mō·šeh מֵעִ֣ם . . . mê·‘im וַיֵּצֵ֥א left way·yê·ṣê פַּרְעֹ֑ה Pharaoh par·‘ōh וַיֶּעְתַּ֖ר and prayed way·ye‘·tar אֶל־ to ’el-
