חֶ֣רֶב the sword ḥe·reḇ נְטוּשָׁ֗ה that is drawn — nə·ṭū·šāh וּמִפְּנֵי֙ from ū·mip·pə·nê קֶ֣שֶׁת the bow qe·šeṯ דְּרוּכָ֔ה that is bent , də·rū·ḵāh וּמִפְּנֵ֖י and from ū·mip·pə·nê כֹּ֥בֶד the stress kō·ḇeḏ מִלְחָמָֽה׃ס of battle . mil·ḥā·māh Isaiah 21:16 כִּי־ For kî- כֹ֛ה this [is what] ḵōh אֲדֹנָ֖י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy אָמַ֥ר says ’ā·mar אֵלָ֑י to me : ’ê·lāy בְּע֤וֹד . . . bə·‘ō·wḏ שָׁנָה֙ “ Within one year , šā·nāh שָׂכִ֔יר as a hired worker śā·ḵîr כִּשְׁנֵ֣י would count [it] , kiš·nê כָּל־ all kāl- כְּב֥וֹד the glory kə·ḇō·wḏ קֵדָֽר׃ of Kedar qê·ḏār וְכָלָ֖ה will be gone . wə·ḵā·lāh Isaiah 21:17 וּשְׁאָ֧ר The remaining ū·šə·’ār מִסְפַּר־ . . . mis·par- קֶ֛שֶׁת archers , qe·šeṯ גִּבּוֹרֵ֥י the warriors gib·bō·w·rê בְנֵֽי־ - ḇə·nê- קֵדָ֖ר of Kedar , qê·ḏār יִמְעָ֑טוּ will be few . ” yim·‘ā·ṭū כִּ֛י For kî יְהוָ֥ה YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵֽי־ the God ’ĕ·lō·hê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl דִּבֵּֽר׃ס has spoken . dib·bêr Isaiah 22:1 מַשָּׂ֖א [This is] the burden maś·śā גֵּ֣יא against the Valley gê חִזָּי֑וֹן of Vision : ḥiz·zā·yō·wn מַה־ What mah- לָּ֣ךְ lāḵ אֵפ֔וֹא ails you now , ’ê·p̄ō·w כִּֽי־ that kî- כֻּלָּ֖ךְ you have all kul·lāḵ עָלִ֥ית gone up ‘ā·lîṯ לַגַּגּֽוֹת׃ to the rooftops , lag·gag·gō·wṯ Isaiah 22:2 עִ֚יר O city ‘îr תְּשֻׁא֣וֹת׀ of commotion tə·šu·’ō·wṯ מְלֵאָ֗ה . . . , mə·lê·’āh קִרְיָ֖ה O town qir·yāh הֽוֹמִיָּ֔ה vvv hō·w·mî·yāh עַלִּיזָ֑ה of revelry ? ‘al·lî·zāh חֲלָלַ֙יִךְ֙ Your slain ḥă·lā·la·yiḵ לֹ֣א did not lō חַלְלֵי־ die ḥal·lê- חֶ֔רֶב by the sword , ḥe·reḇ וְלֹ֖א nor were they wə·lō מֵתֵ֥י killed mê·ṯê מִלְחָמָֽה׃ in battle . mil·ḥā·māh Isaiah 22:3 כָּל־ All kāl- קְצִינַ֥יִךְ your rulers qə·ṣî·na·yiḵ נָֽדְדוּ־ have fled nā·ḏə·ḏū- יַ֖חַד together , ya·ḥaḏ אֻסָּ֑רוּ captured ’us·sā·rū מִקֶּ֣שֶׁת without a bow . miq·qe·šeṯ כָּל־ All kāl- נִמְצָאַ֙יִךְ֙ your fugitives nim·ṣā·’a·yiḵ אֻסְּר֣וּ were captured ’us·sə·rū יַחְדָּ֔ו together , yaḥ·dāw בָּרָֽחוּ׃ having fled bā·rā·ḥū מֵרָח֖וֹק to a distant place . mê·rā·ḥō·wq Isaiah 22:4 עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּ֥ן . . . kên אָמַ֛רְתִּי I said , ’ā·mar·tî שְׁע֥וּ “ Turn away šə·‘ū מִנִּ֖י from me , min·nî בַּבֶּ֑כִי let me weep bab·be·ḵî אֲמָרֵ֣ר bitterly ! ’ă·mā·rêr אַל־ Do not ’al- תָּאִ֣יצוּ try tā·’î·ṣū לְנַֽחֲמֵ֔נִי to console me lə·na·ḥă·mê·nî עַל־ over ‘al- שֹׁ֖ד the destruction šōḏ בַּת־ of the daughter baṯ- עַמִּֽי׃ of my people . ” ‘am·mî
