Isaiah 21:2 קָשָׁ֖ה A dire qā·šāh חָז֥וּת vision ḥā·zūṯ הֻגַּד־ is declared hug·gaḏ- לִ֑י to me : lî הַבּוֹגֵ֤ד׀ “ The traitor hab·bō·w·ḡêḏ בּוֹגֵד֙ still betrays , bō·w·ḡêḏ וְהַשּׁוֹדֵ֣ד׀ and the destroyer wə·haš·šō·w·ḏêḏ שׁוֹדֵ֔ד still destroys . šō·w·ḏêḏ עֲלִ֤י Go up , ‘ă·lî עֵילָם֙ O Elam ! ‘ê·lām צוּרִ֣י Lay siege , ṣū·rî מָדַ֔י O Media ! mā·ḏay הִשְׁבַּֽתִּי׃ I will put an end hiš·bat·tî כָּל־ to all kāl- אַנְחָתָ֖ה her groaning . ” ’an·ḥā·ṯāh Isaiah 21:3 עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּ֗ן . . . kên מָתְנַי֙ my body mā·ṯə·nay מָלְא֤וּ is filled mā·lə·’ū חַלְחָלָ֔ה with anguish . ḥal·ḥā·lāh צִירִ֣ים Pain ṣî·rîm אֲחָז֔וּנִי grips me , ’ă·ḥā·zū·nî כְּצִירֵ֖י like the pains kə·ṣî·rê יֽוֹלֵדָ֑ה of a woman in labor . yō·w·lê·ḏāh נַעֲוֵ֣יתִי I am bewildered na·‘ă·wê·ṯî מִשְּׁמֹ֔עַ to hear , miš·šə·mō·a‘ נִבְהַ֖לְתִּי I am dismayed niḇ·hal·tî מֵרְאֽוֹת׃ to see . mê·rə·’ō·wṯ Isaiah 21:4 לְבָבִ֔י My heart lə·ḇā·ḇî תָּעָ֣ה falters ; tā·‘āh פַּלָּצ֖וּת fear pal·lā·ṣūṯ בִּֽעֲתָ֑תְנִי makes me tremble . bi·‘ă·ṯā·ṯə·nî אֵ֚ת - ’êṯ נֶ֣שֶׁף The twilight ne·šep̄ חִשְׁקִ֔י of my desire ḥiš·qî שָׂ֥ם has turned śām לִ֖י lî לַחֲרָדָֽה׃ to horror . la·ḥă·rā·ḏāh Isaiah 21:5 עָרֹ֧ךְ They prepare ‘ā·rōḵ הַשֻּׁלְחָ֛ן a table , haš·šul·ḥān צָפֹ֥ה they lay out ṣā·p̄ōh הַצָּפִ֖ית a carpet , haṣ·ṣā·p̄îṯ אָכ֣וֹל they eat , ’ā·ḵō·wl שָׁתֹ֑ה they drink ! šā·ṯōh ק֥וּמוּ Rise up , qū·mū הַשָּׂרִ֖ים O princes , haś·śā·rîm מִשְׁח֥וּ oil miš·ḥū מָגֵֽן׃פ the shields ! mā·ḡên Isaiah 21:6 כִּ֣י For kî כֹ֥ה this [is what] ḵōh אֲדֹנָ֑י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy אָמַ֛ר says ’ā·mar אֵלַ֖י to me : ’ê·lay לֵ֚ךְ “ Go , lêḵ הַעֲמֵ֣ד post ha·‘ă·mêḏ הַֽמְצַפֶּ֔ה a lookout ham·ṣap·peh יַגִּֽיד׃ [and] have him report yag·gîḏ אֲשֶׁ֥ר what ’ă·šer יִרְאֶ֖ה he sees . yir·’eh Isaiah 21:7 וְרָ֣אָה When he sees wə·rā·’āh רֶ֗כֶב chariots re·ḵeḇ צֶ֚מֶד with teams ṣe·meḏ פָּֽרָשִׁ֔ים of horsemen , pā·rā·šîm רֶ֥כֶב riders re·ḵeḇ חֲמ֖וֹר on donkeys , ḥă·mō·wr רֶ֣כֶב riders re·ḵeḇ גָּמָ֑ל on camels , gā·māl וְהִקְשִׁ֥יב he must be alert wə·hiq·šîḇ קֶ֖שֶׁב . . . , qe·šeḇ רַב־ fully raḇ- קָֽשֶׁב׃ alert . ” qā·šeḇ Isaiah 21:8 אַרְיֵ֑ה Then the lookout ’ar·yêh וַיִּקְרָ֖א shouted : way·yiq·rā תָּמִיד֙ “ Day tā·mîḏ יוֹמָ֔ם after day , yō·w·mām אֲדֹנָ֗י my lord , ’ă·ḏō·nāy אָנֹכִ֞י I ’ā·nō·ḵî עֹמֵ֤ד stand ‘ō·mêḏ עַל־ on ‘al- מִצְפֶּ֣ה׀ the watchtower ; miṣ·peh
