עֹשֵׂ֑הוּ their Maker ‘ō·śê·hū וְעֵינָ֕יו and turn their eyes wə·‘ê·nāw אֶל־ to ’el- קְד֥וֹשׁ the Holy qə·ḏō·wōš יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל One of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl תִּרְאֶֽינָה׃ . . . tir·’e·nāh Isaiah 17:8 וְלֹ֣א They will not wə·lō יִשְׁעֶ֔ה look yiš·‘eh אֶל־ to ’el- הַֽמִּזְבְּח֖וֹת the altars ham·miz·bə·ḥō·wṯ מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה they have fashioned ma·‘ă·śêh יָדָ֑יו with their hands yā·ḏāw וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר - wa·’ă·šer וְהָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים or to the Asherahs wə·hā·’ă·šê·rîm וְהָחַמָּנִֽים׃ and incense altars wə·hā·ḥam·mā·nîm עָשׂ֤וּ they have made ‘ā·śū אֶצְבְּעֹתָיו֙ with their fingers ’eṣ·bə·‘ō·ṯāw לֹ֣א . . . lō יִרְאֶ֔ה . . . . yir·’eh Isaiah 17:9 הַה֜וּא In that ha·hū בַּיּ֨וֹם day bay·yō·wm מָעֻזּ֗וֹ their strong mā·‘uz·zōw עָרֵ֣י cities ‘ā·rê יִהְי֣וּ׀ will be like yih·yū כַּעֲזוּבַ֤ת forsaken ka·‘ă·zū·ḇaṯ הַחֹ֙רֶשׁ֙ thickets ha·ḥō·reš וְהָ֣אָמִ֔יר and summits , wə·hā·’ā·mîr אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer עָזְב֔וּ abandoned ‘ā·zə·ḇū מִפְּנֵ֖י - mip·pə·nê בְּנֵ֣י to the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וְהָיְתָ֖ה and to utter wə·hā·yə·ṯāh שְׁמָמָֽה׃ desolation . šə·mā·māh Isaiah 17:10 כִּ֤י For kî שָׁכַ֙חַתְּ֙ you have forgotten šā·ḵa·ḥat אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׁעֵ֔ךְ of your salvation yiš·‘êḵ לֹ֣א and failed lō זָכָ֑רְתְּ to remember zā·ḵā·rət וְצ֥וּר the Rock wə·ṣūr מָעֻזֵּ֖ךְ of your refuge . mā·‘uz·zêḵ עַל־ Therefore , ‘al- כֵּ֗ן . . . kên תִּטְּעִי֙ though you cultivate tiṭ·ṭə·‘î נַעֲמָנִ֔ים delightful na·‘ă·mā·nîm נִטְעֵ֣י plots niṭ·‘ê תִּזְרָעֶֽנּוּ׃ and set out cuttings tiz·rā·‘en·nū זָ֖ר from exotic zār וּזְמֹ֥רַת vines — ū·zə·mō·raṯ Isaiah 17:11 בְּי֤וֹם though on the day bə·yō·wm נִטְעֵךְ֙ you plant niṭ·‘êḵ תְּשַׂגְשֵׂ֔גִי you make them grow , tə·śaḡ·śê·ḡî וּבַבֹּ֖קֶר and on that morning ū·ḇab·bō·qer זַרְעֵ֣ךְ you help your seed zar·‘êḵ תַּפְרִ֑יחִי sprout — tap̄·rî·ḥî קָצִ֛יר yet the harvest qā·ṣîr נֵ֥ד will vanish nêḏ בְּי֥וֹם on the day bə·yō·wm נַחֲלָ֖ה of disease na·ḥă·lāh אָנֽוּשׁ׃ס and incurable ’ā·nūš וּכְאֵ֥ב pain . ū·ḵə·’êḇ Isaiah 17:12 ה֗וֹי Alas , hō·w הֲמוֹן֙ the tumult hă·mō·wn רַבִּ֔ים of many rab·bîm עַמִּ֣ים peoples ; ‘am·mîm כַּהֲמ֥וֹת they rage ka·hă·mō·wṯ יֶהֱמָי֑וּן like the roaring ye·hĕ·mā·yūn יַמִּ֖ים seas yam·mîm וּשְׁא֣וֹן and clamoring ū·šə·’ō·wn לְאֻמִּ֔ים nations ; lə·’um·mîm כִּשְׁא֛וֹן they rumble kiš·’ō·wn יִשָּׁאֽוּן׃ like the crashing yiš·šā·’ūn כַּבִּירִ֖ים of mighty kab·bî·rîm מַ֥יִם waters . ma·yim Isaiah 17:13 לְאֻמִּ֗ים The nations lə·’um·mîm יִשָּׁא֔וּן rage yiš·šā·’ūn כִּשְׁא֞וֹן like the rush kiš·’ō·wn רַבִּים֙ of many rab·bîm מַ֤יִם waters . ma·yim וְגָ֥עַר He rebukes wə·ḡā·‘ar בּ֖וֹ them , bōw
