מְעַ֛ט will be few mə·‘aṭ מִזְעָ֖ר . . . miz·‘ār ל֥וֹא [and] feeble lō·w כַבִּֽיר׃ס . . . . ” ḵab·bîr Isaiah 17:1 מַשָּׂ֖א [This is] the burden maś·śā דַּמָּ֑שֶׂק against Damascus : dam·mā·śeq הִנֵּ֤ה “ Behold , hin·nêh דַמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙ Damascus ḏam·me·śeq מוּסָ֣ר is no longer mū·sār מֵעִ֔יר a city ; mê·‘îr וְהָיְתָ֖ה it has become wə·hā·yə·ṯāh מְעִ֥י a heap mə·‘î מַפָּלָֽה׃ of ruins . map·pā·lāh Isaiah 17:2 עָרֵ֣י The cities ‘ā·rê עֲרֹעֵ֑ר of Aroer ‘ă·rō·‘êr עֲזֻב֖וֹת are forsaken ; ‘ă·zu·ḇō·wṯ תִּֽהְיֶ֔ינָה they will be left tih·ye·nāh לַעֲדָרִ֣ים to the flocks , la·‘ă·ḏā·rîm וְרָבְצ֖וּ which will lie down wə·rā·ḇə·ṣū וְאֵ֥ין with no one wə·’ên מַחֲרִֽיד׃ to fear . ma·ḥă·rîḏ Isaiah 17:3 מִבְצָר֙ The fortress miḇ·ṣār וְנִשְׁבַּ֤ת will disappear wə·niš·baṯ מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִם from Ephraim , mê·’ep̄·ra·yim וּמַמְלָכָ֥ה and the sovereignty ū·mam·lā·ḵāh מִדַּמֶּ֖שֶׂק from Damascus . mid·dam·me·śeq וּשְׁאָ֣ר The remnant ū·šə·’ār אֲרָ֑ם of Aram ’ă·rām יִֽהְי֔וּ will be yih·yū כִּכְב֤וֹד like the splendor kiḵ·ḇō·wḏ בְּנֵֽי־ vvv bə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of the Israelites , ” yiś·rā·’êl נְאֻ֖ם declares nə·’um יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָאֽוֹת׃ס of Hosts . ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ Isaiah 17:4 וְהָיָה֙ “ In wə·hā·yāh הַה֔וּא that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם day bay·yō·wm כְּב֣וֹד the splendor kə·ḇō·wḏ יַעֲקֹ֑ב of Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ יִדַּ֖ל will fade , yid·dal וּמִשְׁמַ֥ן and the fat ū·miš·man בְּשָׂר֖וֹ of his body bə·śā·rōw יֵרָזֶֽה׃ will waste away , yê·rā·zeh Isaiah 17:5 וְהָיָ֗ה as wə·hā·yāh קָצִ֣יר the reaper qā·ṣîr כֶּֽאֱסֹף֙ gathers ke·’ĕ·sōp̄ קָמָ֔ה the standing grain qā·māh יִקְצ֑וֹר and harvests yiq·ṣō·wr וְהָיָ֛ה . . . wə·hā·yāh שִׁבֳּלִ֣ים the ears šib·bo·lîm וּזְרֹע֖וֹ with his arm , ū·zə·rō·‘ōw כִּמְלַקֵּ֥ט as one gleans kim·laq·qêṭ שִׁבֳּלִ֖ים heads of grain šib·bo·lîm בְּעֵ֥מֶק in the Valley bə·‘ê·meq רְפָאִֽים׃ of Rephaim . rə·p̄ā·’îm Isaiah 17:6 עֽוֹלֵלֹת֙ Yet gleanings ‘ō·w·lê·lōṯ וְנִשְׁאַר־ will remain wə·niš·’ar- בּ֤וֹ , bōw זַ֔יִת like an olive tree za·yiṯ כְּנֹ֣קֶף that has been beaten — kə·nō·qep̄ שְׁנַ֧יִם two šə·na·yim שְׁלֹשָׁ֛ה or three šə·lō·šāh גַּרְגְּרִ֖ים berries gar·gə·rîm בְּרֹ֣אשׁ atop the tree bə·rōš אָמִ֑יר . . . , ’ā·mîr אַרְבָּעָ֣ה four ’ar·bā·‘āh חֲמִשָּׁ֗ה or five ḥă·miš·šāh פֹּֽרִיָּ֔ה on its fruitful pō·rî·yāh בִּסְעִפֶ֙יהָ֙ branches , ” bis·‘i·p̄e·hā נְאֻם־ declares nə·’um- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֥י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl Isaiah 17:7 הַה֔וּא In that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם day bay·yō·wm הָאָדָ֖ם men hā·’ā·ḏām יִשְׁעֶ֥ה will look yiš·‘eh עַל־ to ‘al-
