הָעֲבֹדָ֥ה labor hā·‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh אֲשֶׁ֥ר into which ’ă·šer עֻבַּד־ you were forced ‘ub·baḏ- בָּֽךְ׃ , bāḵ Isaiah 14:4 וְנָשָׂ֜אתָ you will sing wə·nā·śā·ṯā הַזֶּ֛ה this haz·zeh הַמָּשָׁ֥ל song of contempt ham·mā·šāl עַל־ against ‘al- מֶ֥לֶךְ the king me·leḵ בָּבֶ֖ל of Babylon bā·ḇel וְאָמָ֑רְתָּ - : wə·’ā·mā·rə·tā אֵ֚יךְ How ’êḵ נֹגֵ֔שׂ the oppressor nō·ḡêś שָׁבַ֣ת has ceased , šā·ḇaṯ מַדְהֵבָֽה׃ and how his fury maḏ·hê·ḇāh שָׁבְתָ֖ה has ended ! šā·ḇə·ṯāh Isaiah 14:5 יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh שָׁבַ֥ר has broken šā·ḇar מַטֵּ֣ה the staff maṭ·ṭêh רְשָׁעִ֑ים of the wicked , rə·šā·‘îm שֵׁ֖בֶט the scepter šê·ḇeṭ מֹשְׁלִֽים׃ of the rulers . mō·šə·lîm Isaiah 14:6 מַכֶּ֤ה It struck mak·keh עַמִּים֙ the peoples ‘am·mîm בְּעֶבְרָ֔ה in anger bə·‘eḇ·rāh בִּלְתִּ֣י with unceasing bil·tî סָרָ֑ה . . . sā·rāh מַכַּ֖ת blows ; mak·kaṯ רֹדֶ֤ה it subdued rō·ḏeh גּוֹיִ֔ם the nations gō·w·yim בָאַף֙ in rage ḇā·’ap̄ בְּלִ֥י with relentless bə·lî חָשָֽׂךְ׃ . . . ḥā·śāḵ מֻרְדָּ֖ף persecution . mur·dāp̄ Isaiah 14:7 כָּל־ All kāl- הָאָ֑רֶץ the earth hā·’ā·reṣ שָׁקְטָ֖ה is at peace šā·qə·ṭāh נָ֥חָה and at rest ; nā·ḥāh פָּצְח֖וּ they break out pā·ṣə·ḥū רִנָּֽה׃ in song . rin·nāh Isaiah 14:8 גַּם־ Even gam- בְּרוֹשִׁ֛ים the cypresses bə·rō·wō·šîm אַרְזֵ֣י and cedars ’ar·zê לְבָנ֑וֹן of Lebanon lə·ḇā·nō·wn שָׂמְח֥וּ exult śā·mə·ḥū לְךָ֖ over you : lə·ḵā מֵאָ֣ז “ Since mê·’āz שָׁכַ֔בְתָּ you have been laid low , šā·ḵaḇ·tā לֹֽא־ no lō- הַכֹּרֵ֖ת woodcutter hak·kō·rêṯ יַעֲלֶ֥ה comes ya·‘ă·leh עָלֵֽינוּ׃ against us . ” ‘ā·lê·nū Isaiah 14:9 שְׁא֗וֹל Sheol šə·’ō·wl מִתַּ֛חַת beneath mit·ta·ḥaṯ רָגְזָ֥ה is eager rā·ḡə·zāh לִקְרַ֣את to meet liq·raṯ לְךָ֖ you lə·ḵā בּוֹאֶ֑ךָ upon your arrival . bō·w·’e·ḵā עוֹרֵ֨ר It stirs ‘ō·w·rêr רְפָאִים֙ the spirits of the dead rə·p̄ā·’îm לְךָ֤ to greet you — lə·ḵā כָּל־ all kāl- עַתּ֣וּדֵי the rulers ‘at·tū·ḏê אָ֔רֶץ of the earth . ’ā·reṣ כֹּ֖ל It makes all kōl מַלְכֵ֥י the kings mal·ḵê גוֹיִֽם׃ of the nations ḡō·w·yim הֵקִים֙ rise hê·qîm מִכִּסְאוֹתָ֔ם from their thrones . mik·kis·’ō·w·ṯām Isaiah 14:10 כֻּלָּ֣ם They will all kul·lām יַֽעֲנ֔וּ respond ya·‘ă·nū אֵלֶ֑יךָ to you , ’ê·le·ḵā וְיֹאמְר֖וּ saying , wə·yō·mə·rū אַתָּ֛ה “ You ’at·tāh גַּם־ too gam- חֻלֵּ֥יתָ have become weak , ḥul·lê·ṯā כָמ֖וֹנוּ as ḵā·mō·w·nū אֵלֵ֥ינוּ we are ; ’ê·lê·nū נִמְשָֽׁלְתָּ׃ you have become like us ! ” nim·šā·lə·tā
