לָנֶ֔צַח . . . lā·ne·ṣaḥ תֵשֵׁ֣ב be inhabited ṯê·šêḇ וְלֹ֥א or wə·lō תִשְׁכֹּ֖ן settled ṯiš·kōn עַד־ from ‘aḏ- דּ֣וֹר generation dō·wr וָד֑וֹר to generation ; wā·ḏō·wr וְלֹֽא־ no wə·lō- עֲרָבִ֔י nomad ‘ă·rā·ḇî יַהֵ֥ל will pitch his tent ya·hêl שָׁם֙ there , šām לֹא־ no lō- וְרֹעִ֖ים shepherd wə·rō·‘îm יַרְבִּ֥צוּ will rest his flock yar·bi·ṣū שָֽׁם׃ there . šām Isaiah 13:21 צִיִּ֔ים But desert creatures ṣî·yîm וְרָבְצוּ־ will lie down wə·rā·ḇə·ṣū- שָׁ֣ם there , šām אֹחִ֑ים and howling creatures ’ō·ḥîm וּמָלְא֥וּ will fill ū·mā·lə·’ū בָתֵּיהֶ֖ם her houses . ḇāt·tê·hem בְּנ֣וֹת vvv bə·nō·wṯ יַֽעֲנָ֔ה Ostriches ya·‘ă·nāh וְשָׁ֤כְנוּ will dwell wə·šā·ḵə·nū שָׁם֙ there , šām וּשְׂעִירִ֖ים and wild goats ū·śə·‘î·rîm יְרַקְּדוּ־ will leap about yə·raq·qə·ḏū- שָֽׁם׃ . . . . šām Isaiah 13:22 אִיִּים֙ Hyenas ’î·yîm וְעָנָ֤ה will howl wə·‘ā·nāh בְּאַלְמנוֹתָ֔יו in her fortresses bə·ʾal·m·nō·ṯå̄w וְתַנִּ֖ים and jackals wə·ṯan·nîm עֹ֑נֶג in her luxurious ‘ō·neḡ בְּהֵ֣יכְלֵי palaces . bə·hê·ḵə·lê עִתָּ֔הּ [Babylon’s] time ‘it·tāh וְקָר֤וֹב is at hand wə·qā·rō·wḇ לָבוֹא֙ . . . , lā·ḇō·w וְיָמֶ֖יהָ and her days wə·yā·me·hā לֹ֥א will not lō יִמָּשֵֽׁכוּ׃ be prolonged . yim·mā·šê·ḵū Isaiah 14:1 כִּי֩ For kî יְהוָ֜ה YHWH Yah·weh אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- יְרַחֵ֨ם will have compassion yə·ra·ḥêm יַעֲקֹ֗ב on Jacob ; ya·‘ă·qōḇ עוֹד֙ once again ‘ō·wḏ וּבָחַ֥ר He will choose ū·ḇā·ḥar בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel bə·yiś·rā·’êl וְהִנִּיחָ֖ם and settle them wə·hin·nî·ḥām עַל־ in ‘al- אַדְמָתָ֑ם their own land . ’aḏ·mā·ṯām הַגֵּר֙ The foreigner hag·gêr וְנִלְוָ֤ה will join them wə·nil·wāh וְנִסְפְּח֖וּ and unite wə·nis·pə·ḥū עַל־ . . . ‘al- עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם with ‘ă·lê·hem בֵּ֥ית the house bêṯ יַעֲקֹֽב׃ of Jacob . ya·‘ă·qōḇ Isaiah 14:2 עַמִּים֮ The nations ‘am·mîm וּלְקָח֣וּם will escort [Israel] ū·lə·qā·ḥūm וֶהֱבִיא֣וּם and bring we·hĕ·ḇî·’ūm אֶל־ it to ’el- מְקוֹמָם֒ its homeland . mə·qō·w·mām בֵּֽית־ Then the house bêṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וְהִֽתְנַחֲל֣וּם will possess [the nations] wə·hiṯ·na·ḥă·lūm לַעֲבָדִ֖ים as menservants la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm וְלִשְׁפָח֑וֹת and maidservants wə·liš·p̄ā·ḥō·wṯ עַ֚ל in ‘al יְהוָ֔ה YHWH’s Yah·weh אַדְמַ֣ת land . ’aḏ·maṯ וְהָיוּ֙ They will make wə·hā·yū שֹׁבִ֣ים captives šō·ḇîm לְשֹֽׁבֵיהֶ֔ם of their captors lə·šō·ḇê·hem וְרָד֖וּ and rule wə·rā·ḏū בְּנֹגְשֵׂיהֶֽם׃ס over their oppressors . bə·nō·ḡə·śê·hem Isaiah 14:3 וְהָיָ֗ה - wə·hā·yāh בְּי֨וֹם On the day that bə·yō·wm יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh הָנִ֤יחַ gives you rest hā·nî·aḥ לְךָ֔ . . . lə·ḵā וּמִן־ from ū·min- מֵֽעָצְבְּךָ֖ your pain mê·‘ā·ṣə·bə·ḵā וּמֵרָגְזֶ֑ךָ and torment , ū·mê·rā·ḡə·ze·ḵā הַקָּשָׁ֖ה and from the hard haq·qā·šāh
