הַמַּשּׂוֹר֙ a saw ham·maś·śō·wr יִתְגַּדֵּ֤ל boast yiṯ·gad·dêl עַל־ over him ‘al- מְנִיפ֔וֹ who saws with it? mə·nî·p̄ōw שֵׁ֙בֶט֙ It would be like a rod šê·ḇeṭ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- כְּהָנִ֥יף waving kə·hā·nîp̄ מְרִימָ֔יו the one who lifts it , mə·rî·māw מַטֶּ֖ה [or] a staff maṭ·ṭeh כְּהָרִ֥ים lifting him kə·hā·rîm לֹא־ who is not lō- עֵֽץ׃ wood ! ‘êṣ Isaiah 10:16 לָ֠כֵן Therefore lā·ḵên הָאָד֜וֹן the Lord hā·’ā·ḏō·wn יְהוָ֧ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֛וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ יְשַׁלַּ֨ח will send yə·šal·laḥ רָז֑וֹן a wasting disease rā·zō·wn בְּמִשְׁמַנָּ֖יו among [Assyria’s] stout warriors , bə·miš·man·nāw וְתַ֧חַת and under wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ כְּבֹד֛וֹ his pomp kə·ḇō·ḏōw יֵקַ֥ד will be kindled yê·qaḏ יְקֹ֖ד a fire yə·qōḏ כִּיק֥וֹד like a burning kî·qō·wḏ אֵֽשׁ׃ flame . ’êš Isaiah 10:17 אֽוֹר־ And the Light ’ō·wr- יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וְהָיָ֤ה will become wə·hā·yāh לְאֵ֔שׁ a fire , lə·’êš וּקְדוֹשׁ֖וֹ and its Holy One ū·qə·ḏō·wō·šōw לְלֶהָבָ֑ה a flame . lə·le·hā·ḇāh אֶחָֽד׃ In a single ’e·ḥāḏ בְּי֥וֹם day bə·yō·wm וּבָעֲרָ֗ה it will burn ū·ḇā·‘ă·rāh וְאָֽכְלָ֛ה and devour wə·’ā·ḵə·lāh שִׁית֥וֹ Assyria’s thorns šî·ṯōw וּשְׁמִיר֖וֹ and thistles . ū·šə·mî·rōw Isaiah 10:18 וּכְב֤וֹד The splendor ū·ḵə·ḇō·wḏ יַעְרוֹ֙ of its forests ya‘·rōw וְכַרְמִלּ֔וֹ and orchards , wə·ḵar·mil·lōw מִנֶּ֥פֶשׁ both soul min·ne·p̄eš וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- בָּשָׂ֖ר body , bā·śār יְכַלֶּ֑ה it will completely destroy , yə·ḵal·leh וְהָיָ֖ה . . . wə·hā·yāh כִּמְסֹ֥ס as a sickness consumes a man kim·sōs נֹסֵֽס׃ . . . . nō·sês Isaiah 10:19 וּשְׁאָ֥ר The remaining ū·šə·’ār עֵ֛ץ trees ‘êṣ יַעְר֖וֹ of its forests ya‘·rōw יִֽהְי֑וּ will be yih·yū מִסְפָּ֣ר so few mis·pār וְנַ֖עַר that a child wə·na·‘ar יִכְתְּבֵֽם׃פ could count them . yiḵ·tə·ḇêm Isaiah 10:20 וְהָיָ֣ה׀ - wə·hā·yāh הַה֗וּא On that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם day bay·yō·wm שְׁאָ֤ר the remnant šə·’ār יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וּפְלֵיטַ֣ת and the survivors ū·p̄ə·lê·ṭaṯ בֵּֽית־ of the house bêṯ- יַעֲקֹ֔ב of Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ לֹֽא־ will no lō- יוֹסִ֨יף longer yō·w·sîp̄ ע֜וֹד . . . ‘ō·wḏ לְהִשָּׁעֵ֖ן depend lə·hiš·šā·‘ên עַל־ on him ‘al- מַכֵּ֑הוּ who struck them , mak·kê·hū בֶּאֱמֶֽת׃ but they will truly be·’ĕ·meṯ וְנִשְׁעַ֗ן rely wə·niš·‘an עַל־ on ‘al- יְהוָ֛ה YHWH , Yah·weh קְד֥וֹשׁ the Holy qə·ḏō·wōš יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל One of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl Isaiah 10:21 שְׁאָ֥ר A remnant šə·’ār יָשׁ֖וּב will return — yā·šūḇ שְׁאָ֣ר a remnant šə·’ār יַעֲקֹ֑ב of Jacob — ya·‘ă·qōḇ אֶל־ to ’el- גִּבּֽוֹר׃ the Mighty gib·bō·wr אֵ֖ל God . ’êl
