יְסַכְסֵֽךְ׃ and joined yə·saḵ·sêḵ אֹיְבָ֖יו his enemies {together} . ’ō·yə·ḇāw Isaiah 9:12 אֲרָ֣ם Aram ’ă·rām מִקֶּ֗דֶם from the east miq·qe·ḏem וּפְלִשְׁתִּים֙ and Philistia ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm מֵֽאָח֔וֹר from the west mê·’ā·ḥō·wr וַיֹּאכְל֥וּ have devoured way·yō·ḵə·lū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl בְּכָל־ with open bə·ḵāl פֶּ֑ה mouths . peh בְּכָל־ Despite all bə·ḵāl זֹאת֙ this , zōṯ אַפּ֔וֹ His anger ’ap·pōw לֹא־ is not lō- שָׁ֣ב turned away ; šāḇ יָד֥וֹ His hand yā·ḏōw וְע֖וֹד is still wə·‘ō·wḏ נְטוּיָֽה׃ upraised . nə·ṭū·yāh Isaiah 9:13 וְהָעָ֥ם But the people wə·hā·‘ām לֹא־ did not lō- שָׁ֖ב return šāḇ עַד־ to ‘aḏ- הַמַּכֵּ֑הוּ Him who struck them ; ham·mak·kê·hū וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לֹ֥א they did not lō דָרָֽשׁוּ׃ס seek ḏā·rā·šū יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֖וֹת of Hosts . ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ Isaiah 9:14 יְהוָ֜ה So YHWH Yah·weh וַיַּכְרֵ֨ת will cut off way·yaḵ·rêṯ מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֗ל Israel’s mî·yiś·rā·’êl רֹ֧אשׁ head rōš וְזָנָ֛ב and tail , wə·zā·nāḇ כִּפָּ֥ה [both] palm branch kip·pāh וְאַגְמ֖וֹן and reed wə·’aḡ·mō·wn אֶחָֽד׃ in a single ’e·ḥāḏ י֥וֹם day . yō·wm Isaiah 9:15 הָרֹ֑אשׁ The head hā·rōš זָקֵ֥ן is the elder zā·qên וּנְשׂוּא־ and honorable ū·nə·śū- פָנִ֖ים p̄ā·nîm ה֣וּא man , hū הַזָּנָֽב׃ and the tail haz·zā·nāḇ וְנָבִ֥יא is the prophet wə·nā·ḇî ה֥וּא - hū מֽוֹרֶה־ who teaches mō·w·reh- שֶּׁ֖קֶר lies . še·qer Isaiah 9:16 וַיִּֽהְי֛וּ For way·yih·yū מְאַשְּׁרֵ֥י those who guide mə·’aš·šə·rê הָֽעָם־ this people hā·‘ām- הַזֶּ֖ה . . . haz·zeh מַתְעִ֑ים mislead them , maṯ·‘îm וּמְאֻשָּׁרָ֖יו and those they mislead ū·mə·’uš·šā·rāw מְבֻלָּעִֽים׃ are swallowed up . mə·ḇul·lā·‘îm Isaiah 9:17 עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּ֨ן . . . kên אֲדֹנָ֗י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לֹֽא־ takes no lō- יִשְׂמַ֣ח׀ pleasure yiś·maḥ עַל־ in ‘al- בַּחוּרָ֜יו their young men ; ba·ḥū·rāw לֹ֣א He has no lō יְרַחֵ֔ם compassion yə·ra·ḥêm יְתֹמָ֤יו on their fatherless yə·ṯō·māw וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- אַלְמְנֹתָיו֙ widows . ’al·mə·nō·ṯāw כִּ֤י For kî כֻלּוֹ֙ every one of them ḵul·lōw חָנֵ֣ף is godless ḥā·nêp̄ וּמֵרַ֔ע and wicked , ū·mê·ra‘ וְכָל־ and every wə·ḵāl פֶּ֖ה mouth peh דֹּבֵ֣ר speaks dō·ḇêr נְבָלָ֑ה folly . nə·ḇā·lāh בְּכָל־ Despite all bə·ḵāl זֹאת֙ this , zōṯ אַפּ֔וֹ His anger ’ap·pōw לֹא־ is not lō- שָׁ֣ב turned away ; šāḇ יָד֥וֹ His hand yā·ḏōw
