יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וּלְאֶ֣בֶן a stone ū·lə·’e·ḇen נֶ֠גֶף of stumbling ne·ḡep̄ וּלְצ֨וּר and a rock ū·lə·ṣūr מִכְשׁ֜וֹל of offense , miḵ·šō·wl לְיוֹשֵׁ֖ב to the dwellers lə·yō·wō·šêḇ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ of Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim לְפַ֣ח a trap lə·p̄aḥ וּלְמוֹקֵ֔שׁ and a snare . ū·lə·mō·w·qêš Isaiah 8:15 רַבִּ֑ים Many rab·bîm וְכָ֥שְׁלוּ will stumble wə·ḵā·šə·lū בָ֖ם over these ; ḇām וְנָפְל֣וּ they will fall wə·nā·p̄ə·lū וְנִשְׁבָּ֔רוּ and be broken ; wə·niš·bā·rū וְנוֹקְשׁ֖וּ they will be ensnared wə·nō·wq·šū וְנִלְכָּֽדוּ׃ס and captured . ” wə·nil·kā·ḏū Isaiah 8:16 צ֖וֹר Bind up ṣō·wr תְּעוּדָ֑ה the testimony tə·‘ū·ḏāh חֲת֥וֹם [and] seal ḥă·ṯō·wm תּוֹרָ֖ה the law tō·w·rāh בְּלִמֻּדָֽי׃ among my disciples . bə·lim·mu·ḏāy Isaiah 8:17 וְחִכִּ֙יתִי֙ I will wait wə·ḥik·kî·ṯî לַיהוָ֔ה for YHWH , Yah·weh הַמַּסְתִּ֥יר who is hiding ham·mas·tîr פָּנָ֖יו His face pā·nāw מִבֵּ֣ית from the house mib·bêṯ יַעֲקֹ֑ב of Jacob . ya·‘ă·qōḇ וְקִוֵּ֖יתִֽי־ I will put my trust wə·qiw·wê·ṯî- לֽוֹ׃ in Him . lōw Isaiah 8:18 הִנֵּ֣ה Here hin·nêh אָנֹכִ֗י am I , ’ā·nō·ḵî וְהַיְלָדִים֙ and the children wə·hay·lā·ḏîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh נָֽתַן־ has given nā·ṯan- לִ֣י me lî לְאֹת֥וֹת as signs lə·’ō·ṯō·wṯ וּלְמוֹפְתִ֖ים and symbols ū·lə·mō·wp̄·ṯîm בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל in Israel bə·yiś·rā·’êl מֵעִם֙ from mê·‘im יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֔וֹת of Hosts , ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ הַשֹּׁכֵ֖ן who dwells haš·šō·ḵên בְּהַ֥ר on Mount bə·har צִיּֽוֹן׃ס Zion . ṣî·yō·wn Isaiah 8:19 וְכִֽי־ When wə·ḵî- יֹאמְר֣וּ men tell yō·mə·rū אֲלֵיכֶ֗ם you ’ă·lê·ḵem דִּרְשׁ֤וּ to consult dir·šū אֶל־ . . . ’el- הָאֹבוֹת֙ the spirits of the dead hā·’ō·ḇō·wṯ וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֔ים and the spiritists hay·yid·də·‘ō·nîm הַֽמְצַפְצְפִ֖ים who whisper ham·ṣap̄·ṣə·p̄îm וְהַמַּהְגִּ֑ים and mutter , wə·ham·mah·gîm הֲלוֹא־ shouldn’t hă·lō·w- עַם֙ a people ‘am אֶל־ . . . ’el- יִדְרֹ֔שׁ consult yiḏ·rōš אֱלֹהָ֣יו their God [instead] ? ’ĕ·lō·hāw הַמֵּתִֽים׃ Why consult the dead ham·mê·ṯîm בְּעַ֥ד on behalf of bə·‘aḏ הַחַיִּ֖ים the living ? ha·ḥay·yîm אֶל־ . . . ’el- Isaiah 8:20 לְתוֹרָ֖ה To the law lə·ṯō·w·rāh וְלִתְעוּדָ֑ה and to the testimony ! wə·liṯ·‘ū·ḏāh אִם־ If ’im- לֹ֤א they do not lō יֹֽאמְרוּ֙ speak yō·mə·rū הַזֶּ֔ה according to this haz·zeh אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer כַּדָּבָ֣ר word , kad·dā·ḇār אֵֽין־ they have no ’ên- ל֖וֹ lōw שָֽׁחַר׃ light of dawn . šā·ḥar Isaiah 8:21 וְעָ֥בַר They will roam the land wə·‘ā·ḇar בָּ֖הּ , bāh נִקְשֶׁ֣ה dejected niq·šeh וְרָעֵ֑ב and hungry . wə·rā·‘êḇ
