צְבָא֑וֹת of Hosts {declare} : ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ אִם־ “ Surely ’im- לֹ֞א . . . lō רַבִּים֙ many rab·bîm בָּתִּ֤ים houses bāt·tîm יִֽהְי֔וּ will become yih·yū לְשַׁמָּ֣ה desolate , lə·šam·māh גְּדֹלִ֥ים great mansions gə·ḏō·lîm וְטוֹבִ֖ים . . . wə·ṭō·w·ḇîm מֵאֵ֥ין vvv mê·’ên יוֹשֵֽׁב׃ left unoccupied . yō·wō·šêḇ Isaiah 5:10 כִּ֗י For kî עֲשֶׂ֙רֶת֙ ten ‘ă·śe·reṯ צִמְדֵּי־ acres ṣim·dê- כֶ֔רֶם of vineyard ḵe·rem יַעֲשׂ֖וּ will yield ya·‘ă·śū אֶחָ֑ת [but] a ’e·ḥāṯ בַּ֣ת bath [of wine] , baṯ חֹ֖מֶר and a homer ḥō·mer וְזֶ֥רַע of seed wə·ze·ra‘ יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה [only] ya·‘ă·śeh אֵיפָֽה׃פ an ephah [of grain] . ” ’ê·p̄āh Isaiah 5:11 ה֛וֹי Woe hō·w מַשְׁכִּימֵ֥י to those who rise early maš·kî·mê בַבֹּ֖קֶר in the morning ḇab·bō·qer יִרְדֹּ֑פוּ in pursuit of yir·dō·p̄ū שֵׁכָ֣ר strong drink , šê·ḵār מְאַחֲרֵ֣י who linger mə·’a·ḥă·rê בַנֶּ֔שֶׁף into the evening , ḇan·ne·šep̄ יַדְלִיקֵֽם׃ to be inflamed yaḏ·lî·qêm יַ֖יִן by wine . ya·yin Isaiah 5:12 וְהָיָ֨ה - wə·hā·yāh מִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֑ם At their feasts miš·tê·hem וְאֵ֨ת - wə·’êṯ כִנּ֜וֹר are the lyre ḵin·nō·wr וָנֶ֗בֶל [and] harp , wā·ne·ḇel תֹּ֧ף tambourines tōp̄ וְחָלִ֛יל and flutes wə·ḥā·lîl וָיַ֖יִן and wine . wā·ya·yin לֹ֣א They disregard lō יַבִּ֔יטוּ - yab·bî·ṭū פֹּ֤עַל the actions pō·‘al יְהוָה֙ of YHWH Yah·weh לֹ֥א and fail lō רָאֽוּ׃ to see rā·’ū וּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה the work ū·ma·‘ă·śêh יָדָ֖יו of His hands . yā·ḏāw Isaiah 5:13 לָכֵ֛ן Therefore lā·ḵên עַמִּ֖י My people ‘am·mî גָּלָ֥ה will go into exile gā·lāh מִבְּלִי־ for their lack mib·bə·lî- דָ֑עַת of understanding ; ḏā·‘aṯ וּכְבוֹדוֹ֙ their dignitaries ū·ḵə·ḇō·w·ḏōw מְתֵ֣י . . . mə·ṯê רָעָ֔ב are starving rā·‘āḇ וַהֲמוֹנ֖וֹ and their masses wa·hă·mō·w·nōw צִחֵ֥ה are parched ṣi·ḥêh צָמָֽא׃ with thirst . ṣā·mā Isaiah 5:14 לָכֵ֗ן Therefore lā·ḵên שְּׁאוֹל֙ Sheol šə·’ō·wl הִרְחִ֤יבָה enlarges hir·ḥî·ḇāh נַפְשָׁ֔הּ its throat nap̄·šāh וּפָעֲרָ֥ה and opens ū·p̄ā·‘ă·rāh לִבְלִי־ wide its enormous liḇ·lî- חֹ֑ק . . . ḥōq פִ֖יהָ jaws , p̄î·hā וְיָרַ֨ד and down go wə·yā·raḏ הֲדָרָ֧הּ [Zion’s] nobles hă·ḏā·rāh וַהֲמוֹנָ֛הּ [and] masses , wa·hă·mō·w·nāh וּשְׁאוֹנָ֖הּ her revelers ū·šə·’ō·w·nāh וְעָלֵ֥ז and carousers wə·‘ā·lêz בָּֽהּ׃ ! bāh Isaiah 5:15 אָדָ֖ם So mankind ’ā·ḏām וַיִּשַּׁ֥ח will be brought low , way·yiš·šaḥ אִ֑ישׁ and each man ’îš וַיִּשְׁפַּל־ humbled ; way·yiš·pal- גְבֹהִ֖ים the arrogant ḡə·ḇō·hîm תִּשְׁפַּֽלְנָה׃ will lower tiš·pal·nāh וְעֵינֵ֥י their eyes . wə·‘ê·nê
