מִלֶּ֙כֶת֙ than mil·le·ḵeṯ אֶל־ - ’el- בֵּ֣ית a house bêṯ מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה of feasting , miš·teh בַּאֲשֶׁ֕ר since ba·’ă·šer ה֖וּא [death] hū ס֣וֹף [is] the end sō·wp̄ כָּל־ of every kāl- הָאָדָ֑ם man , hā·’ā·ḏām וְהַחַ֖י and the living wə·ha·ḥay יִתֵּ֥ן should take [this] yit·tên אֶל־ to ’el- לִבּֽוֹ׃ heart . lib·bōw Ecclesiastes 7:3 כַּ֖עַס Sorrow ka·‘as ט֥וֹב is better ṭō·wḇ מִשְּׂחֹ֑ק than laughter , miś·śə·ḥōq כִּֽי־ for kî- בְרֹ֥עַ a sad ḇə·rō·a‘ פָּנִ֖ים countenance pā·nîm יִ֥יטַב is good yî·ṭaḇ לֵֽב׃ for the heart . lêḇ Ecclesiastes 7:4 לֵ֤ב The heart lêḇ חֲכָמִים֙ of the wise ḥă·ḵā·mîm בְּבֵ֣ית [is] in the house bə·ḇêṯ אֵ֔בֶל of mourning , ’ê·ḇel וְלֵ֥ב but the heart wə·lêḇ כְּסִילִ֖ים of fools kə·sî·lîm בְּבֵ֥ית is in the house bə·ḇêṯ שִׂמְחָֽה׃ of pleasure . śim·ḥāh Ecclesiastes 7:5 ט֕וֹב It is better ṭō·wḇ לִשְׁמֹ֖עַ to heed liš·mō·a‘ חָכָ֑ם a wise man’s ḥā·ḵām גַּעֲרַ֣ת rebuke ga·‘ă·raṯ מֵאִ֕ישׁ than mê·’îš שֹׁמֵ֖עַ to listen šō·mê·a‘ שִׁ֥יר to the song šîr כְּסִילִֽים׃ of fools . kə·sî·lîm Ecclesiastes 7:6 כִּ֣י For kî כְק֤וֹל like the crackling ḵə·qō·wl הַסִּירִים֙ of thorns has·sî·rîm תַּ֣חַת under ta·ḥaṯ הַסִּ֔יר the pot , has·sîr כֵּ֖ן so kên שְׂחֹ֣ק is the laughter śə·ḥōq הַכְּסִ֑יל of the fool . hak·kə·sîl זֶ֖ה This zeh וְגַם־ too wə·ḡam- הָֽבֶל׃ is futile . hā·ḇel Ecclesiastes 7:7 כִּ֥י Surely kî הָעֹ֖שֶׁק extortion hā·‘ō·šeq חָכָ֑ם turns a wise man ḥā·ḵām יְהוֹלֵ֣ל into a fool , yə·hō·w·lêl מַתָּנָֽה׃ and a bribe mat·tā·nāh וִֽיאַבֵּ֥ד corrupts wî·’ab·bêḏ אֶת־ ’eṯ- לֵ֖ב the heart . lêḇ Ecclesiastes 7:8 אַחֲרִ֥ית The end ’a·ḥă·rîṯ דָּבָ֖ר of a matter dā·ḇār ט֛וֹב is better ṭō·wḇ מֵֽרֵאשִׁית֑וֹ than the beginning , mê·rê·šî·ṯōw אֶֽרֶךְ־ [and] a patient ’e·reḵ- ר֖וּחַ spirit rū·aḥ ט֥וֹב is better ṭō·wḇ מִגְּבַהּ־ than a proud mig·gə·ḇah- רֽוּחַ׃ [one] . rū·aḥ Ecclesiastes 7:9 אַל־ Do not ’al- תְּבַהֵ֥ל be quickly tə·ḇa·hêl לִכְע֑וֹס provoked liḵ·‘ō·ws בְּרֽוּחֲךָ֖ in your spirit , bə·rū·ḥă·ḵā כִּ֣י for kî כַ֔עַס anger ḵa·‘as יָנֽוּחַ׃ settles yā·nū·aḥ בְּחֵ֥יק in the lap bə·ḥêq כְּסִילִ֖ים of a fool . kə·sî·lîm Ecclesiastes 7:10 אַל־ Do not ’al- תֹּאמַר֙ say , tō·mar
