Proverbs 26:20 בְּאֶ֣פֶס Without bə·’e·p̄es עֵ֭צִים wood , ‘ê·ṣîm אֵ֑שׁ a fire ’êš תִּכְבֶּה־ goes out ; tiḵ·beh- וּבְאֵ֥ין without ū·ḇə·’ên נִ֝רְגָּ֗ן gossip , nir·gān מָדֽוֹן׃ a conflict mā·ḏō·wn יִשְׁתֹּ֥ק ceases . yiš·tōq Proverbs 26:21 פֶּחָ֣ם Like charcoal pe·ḥām לְ֭גֶחָלִים for embers lə·ḡe·ḥā·lîm וְעֵצִ֣ים and wood wə·‘ê·ṣîm לְאֵ֑שׁ for fire , lə·’êš מְדוֹנִים so is a quarrelsome mə·ḏō·nīm וְאִ֥ישׁ man wə·’îš לְחַרְחַר־ for kindling lə·ḥar·ḥar- רִֽיב׃פ strife . rîḇ Proverbs 26:22 דִּבְרֵ֣י The words diḇ·rê נִ֭רְגָּן of a gossip nir·gān כְּמִֽתְלַהֲמִ֑ים are like choice morsels kə·miṯ·la·hă·mîm וְ֝הֵ֗ם that wə·hêm יָרְד֥וּ go down yā·rə·ḏū חַדְרֵי־ into the inmost being ḥaḏ·rê- בָֽטֶן׃ . . . . ḇā·ṭen Proverbs 26:23 כֶּ֣סֶף Like glaze ke·sep̄ סִ֭יגִים . . . sî·ḡîm מְצֻפֶּ֣ה covering mə·ṣup·peh עַל־ . . . ‘al- חָ֑רֶשׂ an earthen vessel ḥā·reś דֹּלְקִ֣ים are burning dō·lə·qîm שְׂפָתַ֖יִם lips śə·p̄ā·ṯa·yim רָֽע׃ and a wicked rā‘ וְלֶב־ heart . wə·leḇ- Proverbs 26:24 שׂוֹנֵ֑א A hateful man śō·w·nê יִנָּכֵ֣ר disguises himself yin·nā·ḵêr בִּשְׂפָתוֹ with his speech , biś·p̄å̄·ṯō יָשִׁ֥ית but he lays up yā·šîṯ מִרְמָֽה׃ deceit mir·māh וּ֝בְקִרְבּ֗וֹ in his heart . ū·ḇə·qir·bōw Proverbs 26:25 כִּֽי־ When kî- ק֭וֹלוֹ he speaks qō·w·lōw יְחַנֵּ֣ן graciously , yə·ḥan·nên אַל־ do not ’al- תַּֽאֲמֶן־ believe ta·’ă·men- בּ֑וֹ him , bōw כִּ֤י for kî שֶׁ֖בַע seven še·ḇa‘ תּוֹעֵב֣וֹת abominations tō·w·‘ê·ḇō·wṯ בְּלִבּֽוֹ׃ [fill] his heart . bə·lib·bōw Proverbs 26:26 שִׂ֭נְאָה Though his hatred nə·’āh תִּכַּסֶּ֣ה is concealed tik·kas·seh בְּמַשָּׁא֑וֹן by deception , bə·maš·šā·’ō·wn רָעָת֣וֹ his wickedness rā·‘ā·ṯōw תִּגָּלֶ֖ה will be exposed tig·gā·leh בְקָהָֽל׃ in the assembly . ḇə·qā·hāl Proverbs 26:27 כֹּֽרֶה־ He who digs kō·re·hō·ša- שַּׁ֭חַת a pit ḥaṯ יִפֹּ֑ל will fall yip·pōl בָּ֣הּ into it , bāh וְגֹ֥לֵ֥ל and he who rolls wə·ḡō·lêl אֶ֝בֶן a stone ’e·ḇen תָּשֽׁוּב׃ will have it roll back tā·šūḇ אֵלָ֥יו on him . ’ê·lāw Proverbs 26:28 שֶׁ֭קֶר A lying qer לְֽשׁוֹן־ tongue lə·šō·w·nō·še- יִשְׂנָ֣א hates yiś·nā דַכָּ֑יו those it crushes , ḏak·kāw חָ֝לָ֗ק and a flattering ḥā·lāq וּפֶ֥ה mouth ū·p̄eh יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה causes ya·‘ă·śeh מִדְחֶֽה׃ ruin . miḏ·ḥeh Proverbs 27:1 אַֽל־ Do not ’al- תִּ֭תְהַלֵּל boast tiṯ·hal·lêl בְּי֣וֹם about tomorrow bə·yō·wm
