אָחִ֗יךָ to your brother’s ’ā·ḥî·ḵā וּבֵ֥ית house ū·ḇêṯ בְּי֣וֹם in the day bə·yō·wm אֵידֶ֑ךָ of your calamity ; ’ê·ḏe·ḵā ט֥וֹב better ṭō·wḇ שָׁכֵ֥ן a neighbor šā·ḵên קָ֝ר֗וֹב nearby qā·rō·wḇ מֵאָ֥ח than a brother mê·’āḥ רָחֽוֹק׃ far away . rā·ḥō·wq Proverbs 27:11 חֲכַ֣ם Be wise , ḥă·ḵam בְּ֭נִי my son , bə·nî וְשַׂמַּ֣ח and bring joy wə·śam·maḥ לִבִּ֑י to my heart , lib·bî וְאָשִׁ֖יבָה so that I can answer wə·’ā·šî·ḇāh דָבָֽר׃ . . . ḏā·ḇār חֹרְפִ֣י him who taunts me . ḥō·rə·p̄î Proverbs 27:12 עָר֤וּם The prudent ‘ā·rūm רָאָ֣ה see rā·’āh רָעָ֣ה danger rā·‘āh נִסְתָּ֑ר and take cover ; nis·tār פְּ֝תָאיִ֗ם [but] the simple pə·ṯā·yim עָבְר֥וּ keep going ‘ā·ḇə·rū נֶעֱנָֽשׁוּ׃ [and] pay the penalty . ne·‘ĕ·nā·šū Proverbs 27:13 קַח־ Take qaḥ- בִּ֭גְדוֹ the garment biḡ·ḏōw כִּי־ of him who kî- עָ֣רַב posts security ‘ā·raḇ זָ֑ר for a stranger ; zār חַבְלֵֽהוּ׃ get collateral ḥaḇ·lê·hū וּבְעַ֖ד if it is for ū·ḇə·‘aḏ נָכְרִיָּ֣ה a foreigner . nā·ḵə·rî·yāh Proverbs 27:14 מְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ If one blesses mə·ḇā·rêḵ רֵעֵ֨הוּ׀ his neighbor rê·‘ê·hū גָּ֭דוֹל with a loud gā·ḏō·wl בְּק֣וֹל voice bə·qō·wl הַשְׁכֵּ֑ים early haš·kêm בַּבֹּ֣קֶר in the morning , bab·bō·qer תֵּחָ֥שֶׁב it will be counted tê·ḥā·šeḇ לֽוֹ׃ to him lōw קְ֝לָלָ֗ה as a curse . qə·lā·lāh Proverbs 27:15 ט֭וֹרֵד A constant ṭō·w·rêḏ דֶּ֣לֶף dripping de·lep̄ סַגְרִ֑יר on a rainy saḡ·rîr בְּי֣וֹם day bə·yō·wm מְדוֹנִים and a contentious mə·ḏō·nīm וְאֵ֥שֶׁת woman wə·’ê·šeṯ נִשְׁתָּוָֽה׃ are alike — niš·tā·wāh Proverbs 27:16 צֹפְנֶ֥יהָ restraining her ṣō·p̄ə·ne·hā צָֽפַן־ is like holding back ṣā·p̄an- ר֑וּחַ the wind rū·aḥ יִקְרָֽא׃ or grasping yiq·rā וְשֶׁ֖מֶן oil wə·še·men יְמִינ֣וֹ with one’s right hand . yə·mî·nōw Proverbs 27:17 בַּרְזֶ֣ל As iron bar·zel יָ֑חַד sharpens yā·ḥaḏ בְּבַרְזֶ֣ל iron , bə·ḇar·zel וְ֝אִ֗ישׁ so one man wə·’îš יַ֣חַד sharpens ya·ḥaḏ פְּנֵֽי־ . . . pə·nê- רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ another . rê·‘ê·hū Proverbs 27:18 נֹצֵ֣ר Whoever tends nō·ṣêr תְּ֭אֵנָה a fig tree tə·’ê·nāh יֹאכַ֣ל will eat yō·ḵal פִּרְיָ֑הּ its fruit , pir·yāh וְשֹׁמֵ֖ר and he who looks after wə·šō·mêr אֲדֹנָ֣יו his master ’ă·ḏō·nāw יְכֻבָּֽד׃ will be honored . yə·ḵub·bāḏ Proverbs 27:19 כַּ֭מַּיִם As water kam·ma·yim הַפָּנִ֣ים reflects the face hap·pā·nîm לַפָּנִ֑ים . . . , lap·pā·nîm כֵּ֤ן so kên לֵֽב־ the heart lêḇ- הָ֝אָדָ֗ם reflects the true man hā·’ā·ḏām
