כֹּ֑ל at random kōl וְשֹׂכֵ֥ר is he who hires wə·śō·ḵêr כְּ֝סִ֗יל a fool kə·sîl וְשֹׂכֵ֥ר or wə·śō·ḵêr עֹבְרִֽים׃ passerby . ‘ō·ḇə·rîm Proverbs 26:11 כְּ֭כֶלֶב As a dog kə·ḵe·leḇ שָׁ֣ב returns šāḇ עַל־ to ‘al- קֵא֑וֹ its vomit , qê·’ōw כְּ֝סִ֗יל so a fool kə·sîl שׁוֹנֶ֥ה repeats šō·w·neh בְאִוַּלְתּֽוֹ׃ his folly . ḇə·’iw·wal·tōw Proverbs 26:12 רָאִ֗יתָ Do you see rā·’î·ṯā אִ֭ישׁ a man ’îš חָכָ֣ם who is wise ḥā·ḵām בְּעֵינָ֑יו in his own eyes ? bə·‘ê·nāw תִּקְוָ֖ה There is more hope tiq·wāh לִכְסִ֣יל for a fool liḵ·sîl מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ than for him . mim·men·nū Proverbs 26:13 עָ֭צֵל The slacker ‘ā·ṣêl אָמַ֣ר says , ’ā·mar שַׁ֣חַל “ A lion ša·ḥal בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ [is] in the road ! bad·dā·reḵ אֲ֝רִ֗י A fierce lion ’ă·rî בֵּ֣ין [roams] bên הָרְחֹבֽוֹת׃ the public square ! ” hā·rə·ḥō·ḇō·wṯ Proverbs 26:14 הַ֭דֶּלֶת [As] a door had·de·leṯ תִּסּ֣וֹב turns tis·sō·wḇ עַל־ on ‘al- צִירָ֑הּ its hinges , ṣî·rāh וְ֝עָצֵ֗ל so the slacker wə·‘ā·ṣêl עַל־ [turns] on ‘al- מִטָּתֽוֹ׃ his bed . miṭ·ṭā·ṯōw Proverbs 26:15 עָצֵ֣ל The slacker ‘ā·ṣêl טָ֘מַ֤ן buries ṭā·man יָ֭דוֹ his hand yā·ḏōw בַּצַּלָּ֑חַת in the dish ; baṣ·ṣal·lā·ḥaṯ נִ֝לְאָ֗ה it wearies him nil·’āh לַֽהֲשִׁיבָ֥הּ to bring it back la·hă·šî·ḇāh אֶל־ to ’el- פִּֽיו׃ his mouth . pîw Proverbs 26:16 עָצֵ֣ל The slacker ‘ā·ṣêl חָכָ֣ם [is] wiser ḥā·ḵām בְּעֵינָ֑יו in his own eyes bə·‘ê·nāw מִ֝שִּׁבְעָ֗ה than seven men miš·šiḇ·‘āh מְשִׁ֣יבֵי who answer mə·šî·ḇê טָֽעַם׃ discreetly . ṭā·‘am Proverbs 26:17 מַחֲזִ֥יק Like one who grabs ma·ḥă·zîq כָ֑לֶב a dog ḵā·leḇ בְּאָזְנֵי־ by the ears bə·’ā·zə·nê- עֹבֵ֥ר is a passerby ‘ō·ḇêr מִ֝תְעַבֵּ֗ר who meddles miṯ·‘ab·bêr עַל־ in ‘al- רִ֥יב a quarrel rîḇ לֹּֽא־ not lō- לֽוֹ׃ his own . lōw Proverbs 26:18 כְּֽ֭מִתְלַהְלֵהַּ Like a madman kə·miṯ·lah·lê·ah הַיֹּרֶ֥ה shooting hay·yō·reh זִקִּ֗ים firebrands ziq·qîm וָמָֽוֶת׃ and deadly wā·mā·weṯ חִצִּ֥ים arrows , ḥiṣ·ṣîm Proverbs 26:19 כֵּֽן־ so kên- אִ֭ישׁ is the man ’îš רִמָּ֣ה who deceives rim·māh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- רֵעֵ֑הוּ his neighbor rê·‘ê·hū וְ֝אָמַ֗ר and says , wə·’ā·mar אָֽנִי׃ “ I ’ā·nî הֲ was only hălō- מְשַׂחֵ֥ק joking ! ” mə·śa·ḥêq
