נָ֑תֶר a wound nā·ṯer וְשָׁ֥ר [is] one who sings wə·šār בַּ֝שִּׁרִ֗ים songs baš·ši·rîm עַ֣ל to ‘al רָֽע׃פ a heavy rā‘ לֶב־ heart . leḇ- Proverbs 25:21 אִם־ If ’im- שֹׂ֭נַאֲךָ your enemy na·’ă·ḵā רָעֵ֣ב is hungry , rā·‘êḇ לָ֑חֶם give him food lā·ḥem הַאֲכִלֵ֣הוּ to eat , ha·’ă·ḵi·lê·hū וְאִם־ and if wə·’im- צָ֝מֵ֗א he is thirsty , ṣā·mê מָֽיִם׃ give him water mā·yim הַשְׁקֵ֥הוּ to drink . haš·qê·hū Proverbs 25:22 כִּ֤י For [in so doing] , kî אַ֭תָּה you ’at·tāh חֹתֶ֣ה will heap ḥō·ṯeh גֶֽחָלִ֗ים burning coals ḡe·ḥā·lîm עַל־ on ‘al- רֹאשׁ֑וֹ his head , rō·šōw וַֽ֝יהוָ֗ה and YHWH Yah·weh יְשַׁלֶּם־ will reward yə·šal·lem- לָֽךְ׃ you . lāḵ Proverbs 25:23 צָ֭פוֹן As the north ṣā·p̄ō·wn ר֣וּחַ wind rū·aḥ תְּח֣וֹלֵֽל brings forth tə·ḥō·w·lêl גָּ֑שֶׁם rain , gā·šem סָֽתֶר׃ so a backbiting sā·ṯer לְשׁ֣וֹן tongue lə·šō·wn נִ֝זְעָמִ֗ים [brings] angry niz·‘ā·mîm וּפָנִ֥ים looks . ū·p̄ā·nîm Proverbs 25:24 ט֗וֹב Better ṭō·wḇ שֶׁ֥בֶת to live še·ḇeṯ עַל־ on ‘al- פִּנַּת־ a corner pin·naṯ- גָּ֑ג of the roof gāḡ חָֽבֶר׃ than to share ḥā·ḇer וּבֵ֥ית a house ū·ḇêṯ מְדוֹנִים with a quarrelsome mə·ḏō·nīm מֵאֵ֥שֶׁת wife . mê·’ê·šeṯ Proverbs 25:25 קָ֭רִים [Like] cold qā·rîm מַ֣יִם water ma·yim עַל־ to ‘al- עֲיֵפָ֑ה a weary ‘ă·yê·p̄āh נֶ֣פֶשׁ soul ne·p̄eš ט֝וֹבָ֗ה [is] good ṭō·w·ḇāh וּשְׁמוּעָ֥ה news ū·šə·mū·‘āh מֶרְחָֽק׃ from a distant mer·ḥāq מֵאֶ֥רֶץ land . mê·’e·reṣ Proverbs 25:26 נִ֭רְפָּשׂ Like a muddied nir·pāś מַעְיָ֣ן spring ma‘·yān מָשְׁחָ֑ת or a polluted mā·šə·ḥāṯ וּמָק֣וֹר well ū·mā·qō·wr צַ֝דִּ֗יק is a righteous man ṣad·dîq מָ֣ט who gives way māṭ לִפְנֵֽי־ to lip̄·nê- רָשָֽׁע׃ the wicked . rā·šā‘ Proverbs 25:27 לֹא־ It is not lō- ט֑וֹב good ṭō·wḇ אָ֘כֹ֤ל to eat ’ā·ḵōl הַרְבּ֣וֹת too much har·bō·wṯ דְּבַ֣שׁ honey də·ḇaš וְחֵ֖קֶר or to search out wə·ḥê·qer כְּבֹדָ֣ם one’s own glory kə·ḇō·ḏām כָּבֽוֹד׃ . . . . kā·ḇō·wḏ Proverbs 25:28 עִ֣יר Like a city ‘îr חוֹמָ֑ה whose walls ḥō·w·māh פְּ֭רוּצָה are broken down pə·rū·ṣāh אִ֝֗ישׁ is a man ’îš אֲשֶׁ֤ר who ’ă·šer אֵ֖ין . . . ’ên אֵ֣ין does not ’ên מַעְצָ֣ר control ma‘·ṣār לְרוּחֽוֹ׃ his temper . lə·rū·ḥōw
