Proverbs 26:1 כַּשֶּׁ֤לֶג׀ Like snow kaš·še·leḡ בַּקַּ֗יִץ in summer baq·qa·yiṣ וְכַמָּטָ֥ר and rain wə·ḵam·mā·ṭār בַּקָּצִ֑יר at harvest , baq·qā·ṣîr כֵּ֤ן . . . kên כָּבֽוֹד׃ honor kā·ḇō·wḏ לֹא־ does not lō- נָאוֶ֖ה befit nā·weh לִכְסִ֣יל a fool . liḵ·sîl Proverbs 26:2 לָ֭נוּד Like a fluttering lā·nūḏ כַּצִּפּ֣וֹר sparrow kaṣ·ṣip·pō·wr לָע֑וּף or darting lā·‘ūp̄ כֵּ֥ן . . . kên כַּדְּר֣וֹר swallow , kad·də·rō·wr חִ֝נָּ֗ם an undeserved ḥin·nām קִֽלְלַ֥ת curse qil·laṯ לֹא does not lō תָבֹֽא׃ come to rest . ṯā·ḇō Proverbs 26:3 שׁ֣וֹט A whip šō·wṭ לַ֭סּוּס for the horse , las·sūs מֶ֣תֶג a bridle me·ṯeḡ לַחֲמ֑וֹר for the donkey , la·ḥă·mō·wr וְ֝שֵׁ֗בֶט and a rod wə·šê·ḇeṭ לְגֵ֣ו for the backs lə·ḡêw כְּסִילִֽים׃ of fools ! kə·sî·lîm Proverbs 26:4 אַל־ Do not ’al- תַּ֣עַן answer ta·‘an כְּ֭סִיל a fool kə·sîl כְּאִוַּלְתּ֑וֹ according to his folly , kə·’iw·wal·tōw פֶּֽן־ or pen- אָֽתָּה׃ you yourself ’āt·tāh תִּשְׁוֶה־ will be like him tiš·weh- לּ֥וֹ . . . lōw גַם־ . . . . ḡam- Proverbs 26:5 עֲנֵ֣ה Answer ‘ă·nêh כְ֭סִיל a fool ḵə·sîl כְּאִוַּלְתּ֑וֹ according to his folly , kə·’iw·wal·tōw פֶּן־ lest pen- יִהְיֶ֖ה he become yih·yeh חָכָ֣ם wise ḥā·ḵām בְּעֵינָֽיו׃ in his own eyes . bə·‘ê·nāw Proverbs 26:6 מְקַצֶּ֣ה Like cutting off mə·qaṣ·ṣeh רַ֭גְלַיִם one’s own feet raḡ·la·yim שֹׁתֶ֑ה or drinking šō·ṯeh חָמָ֣ס violence ḥā·mās שֹׁלֵ֖חַ is the sending šō·lê·aḥ דְּבָרִ֣ים of a message də·ḇā·rîm בְּיַד־ by the hand bə·yaḏ- כְּסִֽיל׃ of a fool . kə·sîl Proverbs 26:7 מִפִּסֵּ֑חַ Like lame mip·pis·sê·aḥ שֹׁ֭קַיִם legs qa·yim דַּלְי֣וּ hanging limp dal·yū וּ֝מָשָׁ֗ל is a proverb ū·mā·šāl בְּפִ֣י in the mouth bə·p̄î כְסִילִֽים׃ of a fool . ḵə·sî·lîm Proverbs 26:8 כִּצְר֣וֹר Like binding kiṣ·rō·wr אֶ֭בֶן a stone ’e·ḇen בְּמַרְגֵּמָ֑ה into a sling bə·mar·gê·māh כֵּן־ is kên- נוֹתֵ֖ן the giving nō·w·ṯên כָּבֽוֹד׃ of honor kā·ḇō·wḏ לִכְסִ֣יל to a fool . liḵ·sîl Proverbs 26:9 ח֭וֹחַ [Like] a thorn ḥō·w·aḥ עָלָ֣ה [that] falls ‘ā·lāh בְיַד־ into the hand ḇə·yaḏ- שִׁכּ֑וֹר of a drunkard šik·kō·wr וּ֝מָשָׁ֗ל is a proverb ū·mā·šāl בְּפִ֣י in the mouth bə·p̄î כְסִילִֽים׃ of a fool . ḵə·sî·lîm Proverbs 26:10 רַ֥ב Like an archer raḇ מְחֽוֹלֵֽל־ who wounds mə·ḥō·w·lêl-
