Proverbs 23:17 אַל־ Do not ’al- לִ֭בְּךָ let your heart lib·bə·ḵā יְקַנֵּ֣א envy yə·qan·nê בַּֽחַטָּאִ֑ים sinners , ba·ḥaṭ·ṭā·’îm כִּ֥י but kî אִם־ . . . ’im- כָּל־ always continue kāl- הַיּֽוֹם׃ . . . hay·yō·wm בְּיִרְאַת־ in the fear bə·yir·’aṯ- יְ֝הוָ֗ה of YHWH . Yah·weh Proverbs 23:18 כִּ֭י For kî אִם־ surely ’im- יֵ֣שׁ there is yêš אַחֲרִ֑ית a future , ’a·ḥă·rîṯ וְ֝תִקְוָתְךָ֗ and your hope wə·ṯiq·wā·ṯə·ḵā לֹ֣א will not lō תִכָּרֵֽת׃ be cut off . ṯik·kā·rêṯ Proverbs 23:19 שְׁמַע־ Listen , šə·ma‘- אַתָּ֣ה . . . ’at·tāh בְנִ֣י my son , ḇə·nî וַחֲכָ֑ם and be wise , wa·ḥă·ḵām וְאַשֵּׁ֖ר and guide wə·’aš·šêr לִבֶּֽךָ׃ your heart lib·be·ḵā בַּדֶּ֣רֶךְ on the right course . bad·de·reḵ Proverbs 23:20 אַל־ Do not ’al- תְּהִ֥י join tə·hî בְסֹֽבְאֵי־ those who drink too much ḇə·sō·ḇə·’ê- יָ֑יִן wine yā·yin בְּזֹלֲלֵ֖י or gorge bə·zō·lă·lê בָשָׂ֣ר themselves on meat ḇā·śār לָֽמוֹ׃ . lā·mōw Proverbs 23:21 כִּי־ For kî- סֹבֵ֣א the drunkard sō·ḇê וְ֭זוֹלֵל and the glutton wə·zō·w·lêl יִוָּרֵ֑שׁ will come to poverty , yiw·wā·rêš נוּמָֽה׃ and drowsiness nū·māh תַּלְבִּ֥ישׁ will clothe them tal·bîš וּ֝קְרָעִ֗ים in rags . ū·qə·rā·‘îm Proverbs 23:22 שְׁמַ֣ע Listen šə·ma‘ לְ֭אָבִיךָ to your father lə·’ā·ḇî·ḵā זֶ֣ה who zeh יְלָדֶ֑ךָ gave you life , yə·lā·ḏe·ḵā וְאַל־ and do not wə·’al- תָּ֝ב֗וּז despise tā·ḇūz אִמֶּֽךָ׃ your mother ’im·me·ḵā כִּֽי־ when kî- זָקְנָ֥ה she is old . zā·qə·nāh Proverbs 23:23 קְ֭נֵה Invest in qə·nêh אֱמֶ֣ת truth ’ĕ·meṯ וְאַל־ and never wə·’al- תִּמְכֹּ֑ר sell it — tim·kōr חָכְמָ֖ה in wisdom ḥāḵ·māh וּמוּסָ֣ר and instruction ū·mū·sār וּבִינָֽה׃ and understanding . ū·ḇî·nāh Proverbs 23:24 אֲבִ֣י The father ’ă·ḇî צַדִּ֑יק of a righteous man ṣad·dîq גּוֹל will greatly rejoice gōl יָגוֹל . . . , yå̄·ḡōl יוֹלֵד and he who fathers yō·lēḏ חָ֝כָ֗ם a wise son ḥā·ḵām וְיִשְׂמַח will delight in him wə·yiś·maḥ בּֽוֹ׃ . . . . bōw Proverbs 23:25 אָבִ֥יךָ May your father ’ā·ḇî·ḵā וְאִמֶּ֑ךָ and mother wə·’im·me·ḵā יִֽשְׂמַח־ be glad , yiś·maḥ- יֽוֹלַדְתֶּֽךָ׃ and may she who gave you birth yō·w·laḏ·te·ḵā וְ֝תָגֵ֗ל rejoice ! wə·ṯā·ḡêl Proverbs 23:26 בְנִ֣י My son , ḇə·nî תְּנָֽה־ give me tə·nāh- לִבְּךָ֣ your heart lib·bə·ḵā
