תְּבוּנָ֑ה understanding , tə·ḇū·nāh וְאֵ֥ין no wə·’ên עֵ֝צָ֗ה counsel ‘ê·ṣāh לְנֶ֣גֶד [that] can prevail against lə·ne·ḡeḏ יְהוָֽה׃פ YHWH . Yah·weh Proverbs 21:31 ס֗וּס A horse sūs מ֭וּכָן is prepared mū·ḵān לְי֣וֹם for the day lə·yō·wm מִלְחָמָ֑ה of battle , mil·ḥā·māh הַתְּשׁוּעָֽה׃ but victory hat·tə·šū·‘āh וְ֝לַֽיהוָ֗ה [is] of YHWH . Yah·weh Proverbs 22:1 שֵׁ֭ם A good name m נִבְחָ֣ר is more desirable niḇ·ḥār רָ֑ב than great rāḇ מֵעֹ֣שֶׁר riches ; mê·‘ō·šer חֵ֣ן favor ḥên טֽוֹב׃ is better ṭō·wḇ מִכֶּ֥סֶף than silver mik·ke·sep̄ וּ֝מִזָּהָ֗ב and gold . ū·miz·zā·hāḇ Proverbs 22:2 עָשִׁ֣יר The rich ‘ā·šîr וָרָ֣שׁ and the poor wā·rāš נִפְגָּ֑שׁוּ have this in common : nip̄·gā·šū יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH Yah·weh עֹשֵׂ֖ה [is] Maker ‘ō·śêh כֻלָּ֣ם of them all . ḵul·lām Proverbs 22:3 עָר֤וּם׀ The prudent ‘ā·rūm רָאָ֣ה see rā·’āh רָעָ֣ה danger rā·‘āh וְיִסָּתֵר and take cover , wə·yis·så̄·ṯēr וּ֝פְתָיִ֗ים but the simple ū·p̄ə·ṯā·yîm עָבְר֥וּ keep going ‘ā·ḇə·rū וְֽנֶעֱנָֽשׁוּ׃ and suffer the consequences . wə·ne·‘ĕ·nā·šū Proverbs 22:4 עֵ֣קֶב The rewards ‘ê·qeḇ עֲ֭נָוָה of humility ‘ă·nā·wāh יִרְאַ֣ת [and] the fear yir·’aṯ יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH Yah·weh עֹ֖שֶׁר [are] wealth ‘ō·šer וְכָב֣וֹד and honor wə·ḵā·ḇō·wḏ וְחַיִּֽים׃ and life . wə·ḥay·yîm Proverbs 22:5 צִנִּ֣ים Thorns ṣin·nîm פַּ֭חִים and snares pa·ḥîm בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ [lie] on the path bə·ḏe·reḵ עִקֵּ֑שׁ of the perverse ; ‘iq·qêš שׁוֹמֵ֥ר he who guards šō·w·mêr נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ his soul nap̄·šōw יִרְחַ֥ק stays far yir·ḥaq מֵהֶֽם׃ from them . mê·hem Proverbs 22:6 חֲנֹ֣ךְ Train up ḥă·nōḵ לַ֭נַּעַר a child lan·na·‘ar עַל־ in ‘al- דַרְכּ֑וֹ the way ḏar·kōw פִּ֣י he should go , pî גַּ֥ם and gam כִּֽי־ when kî- יַ֝זְקִ֗ין he is old yaz·qîn לֹֽא־ he will not lō- יָס֥וּר depart yā·sūr מִמֶּֽנָּה׃ from it . mim·men·nāh Proverbs 22:7 עָ֭שִׁיר The rich ‘ā·šîr יִמְשׁ֑וֹל rule yim·šō·wl בְּרָשִׁ֣ים over the poor , bə·rā·šîm לֹ֝וֶ֗ה and the borrower lō·weh לְאִ֣ישׁ . . . lə·’îš וְעֶ֥בֶד is slave wə·‘e·ḇeḏ מַלְוֶֽה׃ to the lender . mal·weh Proverbs 22:8 זוֹרֵ֣עַ He who sows zō·w·rê·a‘ עַ֭וְלָה injustice ‘aw·lāh יִקְצוֹר will reap disaster yiq·ṣōr אָ֑וֶן . . . , ’ā·wen וְשֵׁ֖בֶט and the rod wə·šê·ḇeṭ עֶבְרָת֣וֹ of his fury ‘eḇ·rā·ṯōw יִכְלֶֽה׃ will be destroyed . yiḵ·leh
